Hello,
My husband has eligibility to become a U.S. citizen in 2 years! We were talking about the possibility of petitioning his sister. Does anyone know actual wait times for siblings (4th preference category) from Guatemala?
I look forward to hearing from you!
Thanks,
Christine

I really don't know, maybe they want the passport. Anyway I hope you find out soon.

EdenG, I'm confused. So you already had one 221(g). Weren't you supposed to send in the passport with the documents? What is the status on ceac? What is the status on ustraveldocs? What did the courier service say exactly?

I found the answer to my own question.
"Then, once you arrive in the U.S., you can expect your SSN card at your mailing address in about 3 weeks."
But do you think we can get it sooner? Thanks ?

My husband is IR1 visa recipient. He just got here on Saturday. How long do you think it will take to receive the social security card? We checked the box on the visa application to have the Social Security card mailed directly to the house. We paid the green card fee (immigrant visa fee) Saturday night. Thanks for your help!

Lol, don't try to use logic! The visa people do not operate in our realm!
The same thing happened to me (and a lot of people). If your documents meet their requirements, it should change to ISSUED in a few days, I'd say by the 20th. But each country is different and has their own processing times. If there are any issues, they will let you know, but I'm sure all is cool and they are just re-verifying your entire case.

What is the status exactly?

Hubby has visa and sealed envelope in hand, he comes home tomorrow! Thanks everyone on Visa Journey!!!

Oh, our I-864 was out of date, so we had to submit a new one with I-864a and letter from employer stating he will still have his job when he returns, since all income is from my husband, the intending immigrant.
We sent that in April 29th, same day as interview
May 7th Issued status
May 14 Visa ready for pick up
Finally... ?
Check out my embassy review, it has more details

I'm going to do it because he's been gone for 4 weeks, we have an eight week old baby, he needs to go to work on Monday and I don't want to take any chances of him not being here any longer... but thanks anyway !!!

But my husband called the cargo espreso office they looked in his envelope and they saw that there's his passport in there with the visa on it and another sealed envelope!!!

Anyone ever buy the flight before having the visa in hand? I'm thinking about doing it but wanted to get some opinions.
The courier says passport is ready for pick-up. Thinking about picking it up on Friday and booking the flight for Saturday.
Let me know! Thanks.

Mi gente guatemalteca!
My husband's visa is ready for pick-up! We found out because he called the Cargo Expreso office. But the status did not update on the ustraveldocs site.
So it is pretty safe to say that if the status say, "Passport has been received from the consular section, and is currently being processed for delivery," that means that your passport may very well be ready for pick-up. Call to check everyday from that point forward. This advice may apply to other countries, as well!
Yayyyyyyyyyyy ???❤️?☺️

No problem, my pleasure ?

Hey JennyLu,
Did you get the cc? Do you have your interview date yet?
We've gone through the whole process, including I-601a. Now my hubby is in Guatemala waiting to get his passport delivered. I can't believe how long it takes! On Saturday, he will have been there 4 weeks! I hope yours goes faster! (Although he did get there a week and a half early to make sure he had time to get new policiacos and penales, since they are only good for 6 months).
Keep me posted!

Also 2014 tax return and w-2's from the joint sponsor as well.
It's just so you can be prepared and your visa for your family is not delayed any further.
-
Well, just make sure your family will bring the copies of your tax return from 2014, and copies of the W-2's from 2014. If your current income today is the same as the current income you wrote on the I-864 last March, and that can be proven by looking at your 2014 tax return, it shouldn't be a problem.
If you can though, send along current pay stubs from your employer and the joint sponsor's employer as proof that your current income is what you said it was, if there's any doubts.
This entails a little bit more work now, but not the burden of getting the signatures again. You'll be glad you did the work now, as opposed to having to do it after the interview IF you get a 221(g).
-
I think so as long as the financial information (income, etc.) is the same. When did you send it in?

Hi there,
Please read my review of the Guatemalan embassy. It contains the answer to your question, but in a nutshell, yes bring them and not just copies of what you submitted but a new AOS with all updated info, and dates.
It may not be necessary but that's what I suggest. Of course copies of the original can't hurt either.
And no, you have to bring your interview letter to the medical appointment... so you can't go yet.

EdenG, did you check your case status on ceac?
Change of Address Help!
in USCIS Service Centers

correction
I had almost the exact same issue as you, LaJumpa. Let me respond so that I can help you and anyone else who needs help:
My husband (green card holder) and I recently moved. We submitted the AR-11 and I-865 by certified mail. I just got the I-797C, Notice of Action confirming they received my I-865. I was listed as the Petitioner and Sponsor. I believe Crazy Cat is correct. I am the beneficiary of the I-865 as well as the petitioner. My husband's A# was written in small type above my name in both the Petitioner and Beneficiary boxes.
I have received no confirmation that the AR-11 was processed, except for receiving the certified mail return receipt. I called USCIS at the number on the notice of action form, 800–375–5283. I also received the automated response and was unable to speak with an agent. After calling multiple times I decided to try to change my husband's address online. All you have to do is log into the USCIS account. At first I didn't know what to do because he doesn't have a pending case. You need to click on "myUSCIS" where it says "Apply for immigration benefits..." On the next screen you should see a box that says "Change your address". Then fill out that form and it will be recorded. I hope that helps.
