  1. Hi!!!

After 14 months waiting, today we received an email from the consulate requesting new medical, new police report and a new application!! they are not requesting the passport yet, but knowing they are working on the case makes us so happy!!!! :dancing:(L):dancing:

WOW!!!! Though I am so happy to hear that they have actually responded to you. I hope that the issue comes very soon. Best of luck to you.

  2. We drove our car from Canada to Phoenix and we didn't import our car. We imported in Phoenix by going to the airport. You can get list of POEs near your city to see where you can go to get the paperwork signed. It was actually much MUCH easier in Phoenix than it was at the border.

  3. Hi Clim,

I crossed the border last weekend at Rainbow bridge (for my first stamp) and Detroit (for permanent move). At Rainbow bridge, they asked if I wanted to import the car and I said no. I tried to import the car at Detroit but they had issues with my paperwork so what they told me to do is go back to Toyota and get a new letter. I can then import at any POE afterwards if I wanted to. So I think you should be able to move in without importing the car and then import the car later on. I believe the grace period is a month or two is what they told us. Hope this helps.

  4. Hi Sean, yes I did. I took evidence of job submission from my husband but the officer didn't care but I would take it just in case they do choose to ask. Additionally, the problem I had was with I-864. This is what I had in terms of that: I-864 from my husband, I-864A from my in-laws. So essentially I was missing I-864 from my in laws so I was given a 221g for that so make sure your paperwork in that term is good. I think what you have is perfect. I didn't have any such thing as my husband was living with me in Canada so we only had a bank statement, a personalized letter from my husband stating the intent of living in the US and voter registration card. Good luck!

  5. Yes that is fine. You can take the offer letter at the interview. We had my in-laws sponsor us and we didn't have a place but our intended address for my in-laws. My husband gave his intention of domicile through bank statement, personal letter, etc. At the interview, consulate asked me if he had a job offer and he didn't. It didn't cause us any issues.

  6. CandAM is right. The congressman for me changed things as well. That's when we got the real answer, otherwise we were getting standard email responses. But you do have to work very closely with the congressman as they probably have a lot of cases. But I was in the same boat as CandAm. I was given a 221g for missing document on May 27 and was placed in AP from May 27 to June 5th. Then was ready until it was issued on Sept 11. It was a looong unbareable journey but it is nice to be with my husband in a home. Good luck to all and hope the Montreal journey ends for you all.

  7. I would like to provide some update. I got an email last night around 9ish that package was picked up and was being shipped to Brampton location. I got an email this morning that it was ready for pick up and I have it!!! I am soooo happy and hugged my passport after being apart for like 4 months :). Planning to leave tomorrow or Friday via Lewiston since I have a bird. Thank you everyone for your support, listening to my rant and giving me guidance. Good luck to those that are waiting. It is really hard to wait (from experience) and nothing makes it easier but to state that there is hope and light at the end of the tunnel. Just keep on your application and push it, don't wait for it - that's the only advise I can give.

  8. Thank you CandAM. Idy, I do hope that your congressman becomes active and imposes Montreal to response and tell you what the heck is going on. This is unfair and no one should be kept in dark for that long. Their automated responses are unreliable and are certainly not true. I know that because the automated response were so far from truth for my application. Let me know if you need anything.

  9. Hi Idy,

Thank you!!! I have a question for you. Did montreal ever respond to your congressman? They didn't also to mine so I think our congressman contacted someone at the DOS b/c this is the email we got yesterday. You see how the address below is DC...just FYI.

Montreal reports the problem has been resolved. The ineligibility no longer appears in the system. Montreal is checking to ensure that no other issues remain. If everything is in order, they will be able to issue the visa and will be in direct contact with the applicant. I would expect this to happen no later than tomorrow.

    Regards,

    Consular Officer
    U.S. Department of State
    Congressional Liaison Office
    Washington, D.C. 20510

  10. Hi all,

Rays of sunshine, they kept my passport too and in fact the officer said we want to so we can issue the visa once we receive your missing document b/c I showed him concern of my inability to travel for work. That was back in May 27, 2015. I have yet to receive my visa. Not try to get you feeling down. I think that you should continuously keep track of it, involved your senator or congressman/woman as soon as possible. I kept hoping every week that this would be it but that was not the case.

I am sorry for ahadu and idy too. I know how devastating it feels. I hope that all of us get our visas soon and can reunite. Amen.

  11. Hi ahadu,

There is a long story. My interview was May 27 so I have been waiting long time and I think so have you. I had my congresswoman contact the consulate in which they told me that I need a CBP flag (issue was cleared but the system still left the flag in there) needed to be clear. So there was quite bit of email back and forth and it was a response to an email. If you read old post here, you can find it.

    Thanks.

  12. Wow, a huge congratulations to you both! I am so sorry of the events that played out in the delays that has caused but it sounds like it was special, small and romantic. Stay safe with the hurricane and good luck with US immigration again but hopefully it will be much easier experience. In my entire experience, I found out that the lack of communication internally in Montreal as well between DHS sub divisions causes the delays more and more. I hope that it gets better and I hope that message means I am getting my visa soon.

  13. Hi all,

I have some good news. I got this email from the consulate today. I am beyond happy and hope this means my visa will be issued soon!!!

    Good morning,

    Thank you for your email!

Please note that that your case is in its final stage of adjudication. Can you please confirm that once the visa is issued you will enter the United States through the Rainbow Bridge Port of Entry. Please confirm by sending an email to Montreal-IV-DV@state.gov.

    Best regards,

  14. Hello I'm in a similar boat but it has not been that long since I was put on ap. My interview was on aug 12th In fact he approved me and gave me a welcome letter and told me I will receive my passport in 2 to 3 weeks its been 2 weeks now and reading from all the people who are put on ap is just horrible. Were you told you are approved also? Just wondering if I should start bugging them instead taking their word for it.

Neither of us were approved at the interview and were given a 221g. For me, it was a missing document. Both of us are May interviewees but a lot of people post that has gotten their approval. Don't lose hope.

  15. Oh wow!! I have to say I have never seen a response like that to a Congressman... So sorry Idy and New User 1000 that you are still in limbo. It has been hectic here but I keep checking to see if I'll see the GREAT NEWS!!! I am praying that August will not end before you get some positive news.MTL is really on a different planet!!!

Thank you!!! your support has truly been amazing. I agree with you that I cannot believe they are now not able to provide response to the congressman/woman in a reasonable time...
