  1. Hello,

Me and my wife are now living in the US.She is a permanent resident. We are both currently not working. She has a ss# and her pr card.I am having trouble getting insurance for my wife who is chinese and was living in Japan for the last 10 years...so she doesnt have a medical record either because she hasnt been sick Does anyone haven any suggestions or a company i can try for her?? we are living in Tx now.

    thanks in advanced

  2. Well...im 34 and my wife is 31.My wife is fluent in Chinese and Japanese and is a good English speaker. We talk in English every day.She came to Japan orginally on a students visa and has worked in Japan since graduating.(10 years in total.)I have been in Japan for 5 yrs and we have know each other for 4.7 years. We have been living since March 03,Married AUG-04.We have no prior weddings or divorces.I dont see why this would happen with the evidence we provided(including an apartment lease and we have worked at the same company..since thats where we met.)

Im just shocked because tokyo sent us a packet and told use to send back the ds-230 and schedule an interview from the website like we did and we get told we are now in AP....

  3. (is the beneficiary u or your wife ?)i am the petitioner and my wife is chinese the beneficiary.

We have been living together for 4 years, been to each others country together and have the visas and stamps to prove it, and married about 2years and 10 months.I dont understand why we would be put in AP.We were given a case number from tokyo and we told would be going for an IR-1.We were going to try and do DCF.It sucks because ive been charged $60 dollars(4 phonecalls) and i never talk to someone who directly knows about my case. They wont tell us anything.

  4. is anyone else who has been approved I-130, got a case number, received a packet with the ds-230 from the embassy, sent the ds-230 to the embassy, applied for an interview ...and then been put in AP?????

what gives with this ??? Why would Tokyo do this after all the other steps have been completed??

Anyone in the position, like me....who was waiting to get an interview date and been told you are now in AP???

    HELP!!!

  5. We are stuck and I have no idea why.We got a packet from tokyo with a case number, sent the ds-230 and applied for an interview and got no response, so i have called tokyo 4 times(cost 15 dollars each time)and every time they promised to call us back and only the last time they called me back saying...the case was going through ap...but i couldnt not get a clear reason why....it doesnt make sense..

we were approved, got a case number, got a packet from tokyo and then we are told we are under ap....it flat out sucks because we thought we have her visa by now or in the next 2 weeks.

Tokyo is has not been helpful as far as customer service!!!

  6. Hello, We applied for an interview on 5/3 via the webiste, got no response, so i contacted tokyo 3 more times each time..they promised me that they would call me and let me know when the interview date would be.I called them today and they called me back saying our case on under administrative processing????

is it normal for this to happen if you are trying to schedule an interview??? From what i understand there is no way to find out how long it will take them to complete this......

I imagine this is because my wife is CHINESE.(i heard that China has a high fraud rate) I thought we would have a solid case since we have lived together for 4 years now.We will have been married 3 years this AUG.She has lived in Japan for 10 years(1st as a student and then working in japan)I have visited China with her and she has come to visit the US with me.We have visas and stamps to prove this.

Does anyone have any advice for me ??? We were playing to leave this june. What else can i do??

    Thanks in advance

  7. I feel like we are getting the run around in Tokyo. Here the story..Last month we receive our Noa2(for our I-130) and a letter from Tokyo telling us what was needed for the Ir-1 visa. This envelope had a blank ds-230.We decided to apply for an interview via the website and that was 5-3-07.After one week of not hearing anything, i made my 1st call to the tokyo embassy(which cost $15 bucks for 15 mins). Then they tell me on the phone we need to send/fax the ds-230(this was never mentioned in the instructions for the IR-1 visa. Then, the lady told me she could contact me later that week. But she didnt..nobody did.

So, i waited another week...nothing so i called for the 2nd time(now its $30 bucks wasted in total)on friday the 18th and they told they didnt know and they would fax me the info later. So, they called me and said it going to take longer.Im trying to find out why??? they dont know whats going on and why its so difficult to give us a date or telling us about our case.

any advice??? because we were hoping to have the interview this month.

  8. Just read the vaccination requirements on the website posted above. If something has to be given in two doses (normally only hepatitis is like this) she will have the first in her country. If she chooses to have the follow up, she can do that in the US. Having only had the first does is not going to present a problem at her interview.

Sweet....that would be awesome....she had the 1st one last year and we will get the 2nd TD/DP this week. You saved me a big head ache....

  9. I found her document and it was in japanese so it was a little hard to translate but she needs 2 DT/TD injection(we are going to get the 2nd this friday) but we have to wait 6-12 months for the final injection.

She also needs a mumps injection.

i hope we can still go the IR-1 route because i had no idea we would have this immunisation issue before our interview...we cant wait 6 more months, it times to leave this place....

kitkat1 said Tetanus-Diphtheria (TD) shots are given together. This can be given and done when your wife settles here in the US. Since TD shots are not routinely given in my Country: Philippines (and not available), all applicants are advised to get the TD shots in the US.

But since she's on an IR-1 visa she may opt not to get it. Or she can go to any Civil Surgeons to get the TD shots and have the record transfer to the I-693 Supplement Vaccination form. (what about this??) But IR and CR visa category need not really have to do it since we are not subject for an Adjustment of Status. Hope this info helps.

By the time you are in the US on a spousal visa, it's too late. For immigrant visas, vaccinations are required for the interview, precisely because there is no AOS in the US and it needs to be done prior to visa issuance. Perhaps there are exceptions made in the Philippines or in other countries where the vaccination is not available, but I personally would not take the risk of not getting them since they are not optional.

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/ty...tml#Vaccination

    Vaccination Requirements

In general, applicants for immigrant visas are required to have all of the following vaccinations:

    Mumps

    Measles

    Rubella

    Polio

    Tetanus and diptheria toxoids

    Pertussis

    Influenza type B

    Hepatitis B

    Varicella

    Pneumococcal

Bring your vaccination records to the immigrant visa medical examination, if you have them. The panel physician decides which vaccinations you will need, appropriate to your age, medical condition and medical history.

  10. Hello,

My wife went to get her vaccinations but i am confused on what this will do with us getting her Ir-1 visa.I found out my wife needs to get 2 more injections for Tetanus and diphtheria....but the doctor told her that one takes about a one month and the final one takes 8 months before she can get the final injection.

So, when she goes to take her medical exam, her vaccination report will be incomplete because she wont have that THIRD(Tetanus and diphtheria injection)and final injection before her med exam. Does this mean we are screwed from getting the IR-1 in the next month???

Can she still get the visa and enter the US if we are missing just one injeection??

Any advice....we are planning to be in the states by AUG!!!

  11. congrats iluvmymac

we are waiting for the Tokyo embassy to give us a offical interview date, we are approved, have a case number are just waiting for tokyo!!!

We had to reapply for police certs, ours expired and we need to do a new medical exam because our expired....(We decided to stay in japan for an extra year...planned to DCF and then it got canceled changed and became available again)

  12. Hey M..sorry i am confusing YOU and myself....

I thought assets for me and my wife would could be cash only since thats all I have right now.I dont have a house, car, property..etc.

You need annual US income of $17K+ OR assets held anywhere, by you or wife, equal to $51K+/

Since I have over $59,000US in the bank or in C.O.D's and my wife has about $20,000US in the bank.I guess we wont need co sponsor since we have enough cash. Thank you for explaining ..i think i understand it

If your Japanese income will not continue in the US, then no, you may not 'count' it on your I-864.

Yes, we both have foreign incomes so we cant use our incomes so i will show the them the MONEY!!!

  13. I have no property or US income...i cant use my Japanese income RIGHT??

If thats true.....i can only use MY ASSETS X3 for this 2007... can only be..$51,339RIGHT....and I have this and the current 2007 guidelines..for a Family size 2 ($13,690)/(125%)$17,113X5 = $85,565

$85,565 - $51,339 = this would mean im short...$34,226....and i assume i cant use my wifes assets because i can only use assets X 3. RIGHT.....??????????

So....i guess i need a co-sponsor since im unable to use my foreign income and use more than X 3 for assets.... :(

  14. It's probably enough but double and triple check. You also have to show evidence of all of these assets. Probably wouldn't hurt to have a co-sponsor just in case.

I had my parents send me a a formal letter from the bank(with accounts #'s,balances and cod's amount as well as my current statements from the bank with the account balances and cod's.

I will go this week to my Japanese banks and get the same thing for me and my wife.

I believe we would have about 80,000 total in USD...so i think that would meet the required amount of money....

  15. Hello,

I am filing out the I-864 and I have a few questions.I believe that I cannot count my income or my wives income since we are living in Japan....so that means we can only include the money in the bank and assets...or co sponsor...so for an household of 2(me and her)...would $80, 000 be enough to meet the 2 year requirement??I have 4 bank accounts, 2 in the states(saving and checking which i have maintained for over 15 years and 2 in Japan.)

If I dont have a job in the states.. would that affect my chances of getting this approved???...we are planning to move back and live with my parents for a while.

I think by having a valid DL, 2 current bank accounts that I wouldnt have a problem with establishing a domicile....RIGHT???

    Thanks again for your help

  16. I just got back to my apartment and I was able to see the info we received from Tokyo.

The large envelope was address to my wife in ENGLISH and Japanese.

The 1st page was basically telling her to apply for immigration to the US.

This page included her Case Number, Preference Category IR1, Priority date FEB 28, 2007(whats this)

Page 2 Immigrant Visa Instructions (dated april 17,2007)It basically says go to the website and print out the docs)

Page 3 photo copy page about police records in China

Page 4(4pages stapled together) (titled: please take note)documents required..basically saying to submit original documents or notarized/certified copy)Then there is a list of documents with a check boxes and we must include beneficiary proof of birth and other(written in RED INK)English TranslationPage 2(documents..about China)page 3(birth Certificates about china(page 3)continues)

Page 5 DS-230 part 1 with her IR-1 case number and stamped return asap

Page 6 DS-230 part 2 with her IR-1 case number and stamped return asap

So....i guess, i gather the necessary docs from the website, schedule an interview via the website,go the interview and we should have the visa. Is this right???

    Has anyone else received this???

  17. Do you need to include a copy of our foreign W-2s with the IRS DOC??? If so, is a COPY of the W-2 ok?? and do we need to include a translation for the foreign w-2's?? (im in Japan and our W-2's are in Japanese.

Can we use the EZ form(1040/2555) for previous years

I was able to gather all the info(2555/1040) for filing my taxes for the last 5 years and i will send it out next week when i get back to my apartment.I hope I can just use copies of my forms since i am just sending them next week.
