Congratulation. Her Phil citizenship is a separate issue and it can be done later. The important issue right now is apply for  a US passport which can take up to 6 weeks(expedite) or 10-12 weeks for routine processing time.

I was not sure is the Philippines was notified of her naturalization.  Yes we already have an appoint ment to apply for the passport.

    Thank you

She will need her expired green card, and the NOA1 from ROC  - this will have a notation on it extending the validity of the green card for one year.

Did you complete ROM and is her passport in her married name?

Air fare must be in the name on the passport, and if the name on the passport and green card are not the same you need to carry a copy of your marriage certificate.

Do remember when entering the Philippines - stay together, in the same line, so that you can get the BB stamp in your passport

The only letter we have is the one reminding her to file for ROC.  We will be sending the ROC packet in the next 2 weeks.  Her passport is still in her maiden name so she is ticketed in her maiden name.

Is the extension letter issued after they receive the ROC packet?  How long does it take to receive the extension letter?

  3. My wife's green card expires the end of March and we are planning to travel to the Philippine in April.  We will be filing for her ROC in the next week.  What do we need for her to be admitted back into the US?

    Thank you in advance

  4. I have a strange situation and am looking for what options I may have.  Two cousins of my wife are currently in an orphanage.  The oldest was raped by her father which is how she ended up in the orphanage.  Her younger sister lived with my wife for 2 years until my wife came here on a K1.  The younger girl is about to turn 18 and the girls are being told they will need to leave the orphanage.  The older girl is currently 20.  The orphanage has said they will look for a foster parent for them.  Is there any type of visa that they may be eligible for that would allow them to come here and live with us?

    Thank you,

    Dan

  5. What is the best way to send money to Thailand.  I will be sending direct to a bank account.  Unfortunately my credit Union will not do foreign transfers.  Western Union takes 4 days to complete the transfer.  Is there another service that is faster?

    Thank you

  6. We would like to bring our nieces( age 7&9) to the US to visit so we can take them to Disney World. I know it is difficult to get a visitor visa for Filipinos. Will we experience the same difficulties trying to get a visitor visa for our Nieces? Has anyone here been able to get a visitor visa for a nephew or niece?

    Thank you

  7. When my wife left manila on her K1 visa (Nov 2015) she did not have to pay the tax. We traveled to Manila this year (May 2016). When we left Manila, I did not have to pay any taxes. She did have to pay the Airport tax before they would give her a boarding pass.

  8. Thanks so much,

What was the cost of the Biometrics stuff that you needed to do?

Did you send a Money Order or Personal Check?

We sent a personal check, that way I see when its cashed.

We sent a personal check $1070 with the AOS packet. That includes the biometrics. We also included G-1145 so we received an email with the Case # when they received it. The online information for the Case # states the following:

"On February 11, 2016, we accepted the fingerprint fee for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSCxxxxxxxx. Our National Benefits Center location is working on your case. We mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice."

  9. Key items for you fiancee should have for CFO are all divorce decrees, your mothers maiden name, you Land line phone number (not cell). A copy of your birth certificate and a copy of your passport bio page. My fiancee had all of these and sailed through the CFO. She was told by her interviewer that they check to make sure she knows about all of your prior marriages/divorce.

The most important thing is that she needs to be confident during the interview. Relax, it' not as bad as some messages you read about the CFO interview.

  10. My wife applied for her SSN before we were married. She checked the legal alien allowed to Work. She received her SSN card 2 weeks later. The card said she is not allowed to work without authorization. The SSN web site can be confusing but USCIS says you cannot work until you receive you EAD. We recently filed for AOS and are waiting for her EAD & AP.

  11. My filipino wife is experiencing her first midwest winter now. It is not as cold as Wisconsin but still a real adjustment for her. Her second day here we spent shopping for coats, shoes, boots, hats, and gloves. I got here one of the heated throws so she can wrap up in that when she gets cold. I also recommend an electric blanket!!! I keep the house warmer than I used to which does help. the humidifier and rice cooker helps to keep the air from drying out too much. She is adjusting to the colder temperatures very well.

  12. Okay thank Im understanding this whole thing alot more. I think this will help me to be more prepared for when this actually happens. Thank you oh and one last thing they way i understand it is that i just buy a ticket for her online or something with a debit card or whatever i choose to pay with and shell pick it up there? anyways yeah thanks!

Yes - You can purchase the ticket online and she will get boarding passes when she check in at the airport. There are many VJ members that have been through the K1 process. You definitely want to follow the Philippines forum here. Both Hank & Greenbaum have created web sites that will take you through the process step by step. Here are the links to their web sites.

  13. If you have your boarding pass for your next flight you go directly to your gate.

In Manila when you check in and check your bag at the Delta counter, they will give you all of your boarding passes to the final destination.

When you arrive at Narita, follow the signs for international connections. You will pass through security again. After security, go down the stair and you will see two video screen with information on departing flights. Find your next delta flight to find the departing gate number. Go directly to that gate and wait for them to begin boarding.

When you arrive in Atlanta, it will probably be terminal F which is the new international terminal. Follow the signs for immigration. Once you have cleared immigration you need to retrieve all of your checked bags and proceed through customs. After customs there will be a place for you to drop your bags for your connecting flight.

Check the video screens for your next delta flight to find the terminal and gate number. The Atlanta airport has an underground train that will take you to the terminal for your next flight.

  14. Can anyone recommend a agency , para legal or a firm that can take care of all paperwork for a fiancé visa from the Philippines , someone that won't take your entire savings

I went through the K1 process for my Filipino fiance and we were just married 2 weeks ago. I did pay someone $1200 to help me put the K1 visa petition together and he did a great job. If I had to do it over again, I would do it myself and save the $1200. The guides here are very easy to follow. You should also use the Philippines forum here on VJ as it is specific to the process for a Filipino fiance or spouse.

There are some web pages created specifically for the Filipino K1 visa process. Both Hank & Greenbaum have created web pages that will guide you step by step through the process. You can find those web pages here:
