  1. Hope everyone is doing well I had the same issue as Jen didn't know how to reply back from my phone. But I wanted to badly reply to PriyaB especially bc I was freaking out when I got called in again. In my case all they needed was an oath and finger prints, I'm just glad they were able to call you back and I know in your case the medical is expired but get that to them as soon as you can. Idy hopefully you will hear from them soon praying for you. Friend2ya I don't get why it's taking them longer in January than it did in December. If I were you I would involve the senator it will be better than you emailing them. Good luck to everyone and praying for all of you for this journey to be over soon.

BTW I did my poe on January 1st thru Pearson airport. The first officer was extremely nice he checked my passport and said glad to have you and sent me into a secured room to the next officer to activate my visa. There nothing was asked only he explained to me what the next steps will be and I was ready to board my plane. The whole thing was literally 5 minutes. Last week I received my SSN now just waiting for the green card.

  2. No change, still shows Refused - but was updated if you remember when you asked about the courier bar code last week, that was I sent and probably triggered the status to Dec 22. Yes, and perhaps we might see some people either getting new updates on Monday.

Boxing Day December 26, Saturday Observance - ON

Since it does not look like they are conducting any interviews, then I'm sure they are working on the files. And if they are open this week for 4 days and you file is complete there is a possibility you will get issued. If not for sure the first week of January will happen. Hang in there you are almost at the finish line. And being ir1 is the best feeling since you don't have to deal with this headache for a long time till your citizenship.

  3. Enjoy ray, happy holidays!!

By next week Tuesday, I will have my lawyer to email the consulate and see if her power is good..

To everyone who is still waiting, Monday is not a holiday in Montreal(Only in Ontario)

Thank you Friend2ya happy holidays to you too. They might pick their pace after the holidays but if you are in the same predicament then you will be issued 4 weeks from the day they received your additional documents at the consulate. It's always good to inquire but just be a little bit patient since it has not been 4 weeks. I did not think Monday they will be open since boxing day is consider a national holiday in Canada. But if they are then an extra day for them to work on your file. Btw did your status change to AP yet?

  4. Omg finally issued my passport is being mailed to me today, and there is a possibility I will receive it tomorrow. God is good at all times. To those waiting don't ever lose hope your day will come soon, till then all of you will remain in my prayers. Happy Holidays.

ahhh nevermind guys, we're both back in AP lol. that was short lived:( is it normal to bounce back?

You will be issued by tmr:) Tuesday you will get your passport. Sooo happy for you?
  5. This is great news! Very, very happy for you! Maybe you'll get issued by the end of today, maybe tomorrow!!!! :joy:

Thank you Jenn, I am hoping for the same thing but all of a sudden my ceac is down I can't check my status, maybe they are working on my file?. At the end of the day I'm just glad I'm out of AP. Praying and hoping for everyone to receive good news soon. Hang in there, there a light at the end of the tunnel?

  6. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! ??? out of the AP nightmare!!! That's the best gift anyone could get right now!!!! ???

Thank you so much I hope you will get there soon too. I know you been waiting longer than anyone. Hang in there sending you positive vibes and Christmas miracles.?

  7. Five months since interview...no visa yet. Last time it was checked was December 10th. We had recieved a letter from our senators office a few days before saying our case was still in admin.

Priya if anything the senator should let you know what the hold up is. The consulate or Dos might not be able to tell it to you but for sure your congress person can, especially because it has been this long without any specific reason. And don't be afraid to email them constantly, also tell your partner to do the same. And ask to know why your status is in ap.

  8. Ray of sunshine, I'm backing away from the emails too... I've sent quite a few, and twice they've ignored me. So i think I'm doing more harm than good in terms of that.

I really can't see us waiting up to 8 weeks or even longer, that seems to fall into the category of exceptional circumstances, so lets keep our fingers crossed! The average amount of waiting time in November got my hopes up, but of course December is a busy month and it was bound to slow down. No doubt the recent terrorism issues don't help:( It sucks not knowing where our case stands at this point, what they're doing, etc. but just stay positive! You and I are going into our 4th week!!!

JennNMike they touched my file today on their own since receiving the additional documents on November 24th, without me emailing them. I will check again my status later the end of business day. Hopefully I will get out of that dreading status of Administrative processing. And hoping the same for you since we been waiting for 4 freaking weeks.Hang in there I will be back later:):)

  9. Hi my friend!!

yes, it's me! still waiting!! :clock: reading VJ post on a Saturday night! LOL!! :) Unfortunately my case is still at the consulate, 3 congressional inquiries and they always answer the same "still on AP, you need to wait".

So... I guess I don't have other choice but wait and pray.

Thank you for the positive vibes!!! all my best to you as well, Happy Holidays and new year with our love ones!! :goofy:

Lol I'm doing the same thing hoping I find similar timeline as mine. Sent new documents to Montreal it was received by the consulate on November 24th but so far nothing. They told me it takes 8 weeks from the time new documents are received, but I still involved a senator and he was told my file is with adjudication officer and soon it will be resolved. I don't how soon is soon, the wait is a silence killer. But we have to remain optimistic.

  10. I forgot to come back in this thread. The visa was issued yesterday, December 18. Hopefully we can pick it up early next week.

We turned in the original of the document we messed up with on November 20, they got it November 23. The officer was given it on December 7. They told my wife conflicting information. I finally wrote them and poured out my heart. They worked on it the next two days.

This not the scary bad AP though.

Congrats Callmeshams I'm glad the ordeal is over for you. And someone who works there actually have a heart. My documents were received by the consulate on the 24th of November but via email we were told they need 8 weeks time to adjudicated the visa and there is nothing we can do but wait. They don't care about the holiday and family being apart no special treatment in Montreal. Anyhow Happy holidays and enjoy your life with your loved one. All the best!

  11. My case has been on AP for 7 months at Montreal. No additional documents needed. the consular officer said "Everything looks fine, you need to wait 2 or 3 weeks". My husband is a Canadian Citizen but was born in Cuba. Has been here in US many times visiting and his police records from both countries are clean. The consulate always answer the same thing to me and to my congressman, "Still on AP you need to wait". Has been a really hard and sad waiting but not other choices are given.

Good luck to everybody waiting, All the best!! and Happy Holidays

Idy I remember you. I can't believe you are still waiting, Montreal is just so slow, I hope soon this nightmare will be over for all of us. Sending positive vibes your way. Happy Holidays.

  12. Don't you forget. Some staff would also request an additional day(Until Jan 5) spend abroad with family, so that shorten people to work. And next week its a long weekend for Canadian. Usually as far as I see, 4-6 weeks to take an adjudicator to make a decision on a visa. After that, you can flood them with emails. :)

By the way, did you read the news about the shooter visa? Also now complicates more of the timing as well...because the immigration officer screwed up!!

At this time I can't send any more emails, they were already pissed off with my last a few emails so I'm staying away from the spot light. I did all I could even involved the senator and all I got is I have to wait up to 8 weeks:(:(. But I'm hoping 4 to 6 weeks that is better than 8. Yeah and I just read about the visa shooting news that is hard to swallow. I been in this journey for 2 years now and I'm now an ir1 visa and I hope I don't get stuck some more because of all this craziness.I don't know how much more I can take of this waiting and not knowing business.

  13. I was under the impression from their website that they only close the 25th and the 1st, but I could be wrong?

If they are in fact not processing any more visa's until the 29th, maybe they are backed up? It is also the busiest time of the year for Canada Post, so that may not help either.

Hopefully this only applies to very recent visa applications though, and not to those of us who are still waiting from weeks/months ago.

Christmas eve and new year's eve I'm sure they will close early.Any Canadian holiday that falls on Saturday it's observed on the following Monday, there for they are closed December 28th for boxing day. And closed on Monday January 4th bc it's some type of holiday in Quebec. And Canada post is another headache it self. If they are not going to issue visas or conduct more interviews the least they can do is work on our files and just give us a break. How long does it take for an adjudication officer to make a decision on a file? I doubt it takes almost 4 weeks. I'm beyond frustrated with this consulate for dragging me for months.

  14. You did really said that..I thought I wouldn't go over his/her authority who ever works behind the counter...I guess I am going to unleash myself, tell it how I feel. Like I say, we all want the best for everyone but sometimes they don't see the priority like ours who has family, waiting for the loves to come home, and who knows how many sham marriage had been approved, because every case is different blah blah --Give me a break!!

So, ray of sunshine. How did you start with the politicians to help you?

When you been waiting and you have no clear answer you email them anything and everything. But as you can see nothing as changed I'm still waiting. All you have to do is tell your petitioner to contact her congressman or senator they will make her sign privacy act of release form and explain what she needs them to do. From there they will email Montreal on your behalf. They usually email them back sometimes with the same answer like the one they tell you but in a different tone.

  15. Well, no update for me...As we are all waiting to get approved to see our family. I am wondering what are they doing in the consulate, Xmas party and spilled cocktails on the printer machine??

I dont hate at all, but really?? if new processing get the visa before us waiting that's not fair at all

By the way as I mentioned, I am feeling stupid not embarrassed for sending those DOS courier documents to the consulate...hope its a good thing rather than asks for it later...

    Have a good weekend everyone..!!

? at the spilling cocktails who knows. I did email them saying how unfair it is, but they reply back saying every case is different. So I guess it might seem unfair to us but to them it ain't, and they don't care since they think are doing their job right.
  16. It could be bs, but it may also be progress in the right direction.

And the 29th may only apply to new visa's done recently! our cases have been there since November... some good news has to come!

I hope it's a progress in the right direction. The last time there was an issue with their system everyone was affected and those who sent in additional documents were stuck for 8 weeks. But I hope you are right and will just continue to be optimistic.

  17. Another week done. Nothing has changed on my end, no touch since Dec 7.

I spoke to our lawyer this week, and he wasn't able to give me much insight except for that he thinks that the reason my case is taking so long is that its probably been sent to washington for "further background checks" since I "have ties to the middle east" aka my dad was born in Morocco. Although, he immigrated to Canada when he was twelve, and besides that we are Jewish, that is if their concern has to do with radicalization.

This all feels so unfair. I feel like I have one foot out the door, but meanwhile I am feeling super useless day in and day out. I sort of had everything wrapped up thinking I'd be living there by now.

Unsure how to proceed, thinking I will try to start working again once the holidays are over, since I honestly have no clue how long AP will last. That is the most frustrating part for all of us, we don't know if this limbo will last weeks, months or maybe even a year???

I'm trying my hardest to remain positive, but it's really hard because I don't know what the endpoint is.

Just had to vent a little, but I really hope that everyone else is able find positivity. I could definitely use some positive vibes right about now, this is really hard!

I'm so sorry you are feeling this way. I honestly understand what is that like. And many of us here are going thru the same thing you are not alone. All we can do is pray and hope they issue our visa soon. No one knows why anyone is put on AP therefore don't stress to much about it, it could just be something minor. Since this days I'm at home and have nothing better to do I read many many posts from all over the world on VJ. And there are males and females applicant from the "unfriendly countries" being issued with no problem even after all those awful events happening. This is why I'm telling you not to read to much into what your background is and the reason you might be on AP. Hang in there we are all in this together:).

  18. Another day is gone and no change, the senator was told my file is with an adjudicating officer and this matter should be solved soon. I don't know if I should take that as a good sign or another bs they tell us so we can back off. And to know no visa can be printed until December 29th is just heartbreaking. I guess Happy Holidays to you all, maybe we will join our loved ones in the new years.

  19. I don't think i will be either... average wait time for k1 visa's after sending documents in November was 10-15 business days it seemed. I am now on day 17. No one seems to even touch my case. My status's have never changed, besides the date, and those were usually due to emails.

The best we can do is hope for good news over the next few business days. I know, it is hard to stay positive.

Can your fiance visit you during the holidays?

We were so close yet so far anyone who submitted their documents after November the 18th we are stuck. I stumbled on someone post who got issued on December 22nd and were able to get their passport back on the 23rd but that was with Loomis. CP are slow so if we don't hear by today or Monday. Xmas will be spent in Canada:(

  20. That sounds like the good AP, can be answered and dealt with in Immigration terms quickly.

The consulate in Montreal can take 8 to 12 weeks to resolved matter's like that,so the wait is much longer than other embassies. And now the holidays are here so much closer and and short of stuff who knows how much longer we will be stuck on AP:(

  21. Montreal embassy received my documents after my I-601 approval last Tuesday Nov 24th but my statues hasn't changed from Refused since then ... How long did it take for you to see the changes like AP?!

They received my requested documents the same day as your date. But still I'm under AP. Anything new on your end?
