  1. I have used the USPS every-time I have shipped something, and guess I am lucky nothing has gone missing. If you use DHL, I am guessing like Fedex, the person receving the items must pay import fees or taxes? I believe this happened when I shipped a bunch of items using FEDEX and the fee she paid to get the box was worth more than the contents of the box.

  2. I have used here for gift baskets:

and here for flowers and cakes:

Not sure your budget, but have found they deliver without a problem.

Note if you order a cake from Flora, your fiance will need to go pick up at the bakery.

Another option is if you know someone in the Philippines, have them do for you. Cheapest route as they can do themselves, and you only need to send money via Western Union.

    OR

I buy gifts for family members, box and send them over now. My fiance puts them up until Christmas.

On a side note, she is mad I do that as i she hates that I spend money. I am impractical, and she is practical, so we are a perfect match. LOL...

  3. Not sure if coincidence or not. My RFE was 09/01/2015. I was about 53 business days into waiting (they told me on the phone i had to wait 60 days before they could even see if a problem) when I wrote my senator seeking help. The next day it was approved. I never heard anything from my senator so no clue if sheer coincidence, or if a call was made. I have used my senators in the past and it is always interesting how some things can be done when a call comes from their office.

  4. Skip the wedding/the fitting. Just go there and have a party for her family and friends when you arrive. Make a it a vacation and just be happy that you have the K1 and she is coming home with you. If that doesn't work, then when you arrive at you first destination start going to all the other airlines that have flights to Manila and if you really want to do this, jump on the first one that heads out that can fit you in. Will be expensive, but if that is what you want you may get lucky. My fiance is practical and would kill me if I did this (the wedding, the extra money for tickets, etc..lol).... Good luck!

  5. Depends on what you want out of life. I met my fiance online three years ago. Since then, I have vistied her and her family five or six times, stayed with them during Christmas, met most of her friends, and found her to be as good in person as she showed on the net. Neither of us wanted to rush into anything as this was a huge step for her, as well as a lot of responsibilty for me. We have had our ups and downs, but always come through smiling. I think paitence is a virtue you will need to get through all the things it takes to get done. And this is on both sides. Actually, much easier for her than me. And I never took this as a game, as playing around with people is not something I want to do in life, as you never know where you are going when this life ends. This lady was not meant for you and much better she ended. Long distanace relationships are not for everyone, but I can not be happier with the person I have met. She is one in a million and well worth the wait. Good luck!

  6. Thanks everyone. She goes to court for this on Friday so will see what happens. I really think he planned it this way to make her have to wait even longer. I feel more bad for her than me as she was afraid to tell me as we started this process in 2012, but you are correct, this is a time consuming and life draining process on both parties. At this time, I guess I have to grin and bear it until I see what this Friday's outcome happens to be.

  7. Two kids, 10 and 4. The boy lives with my fiance, the girl with his family. They split when the boy was 5 and he has never paid for anything for his son while they were married nor when living apart. He has never moved out of his famlies house. His sister is married to an American and they recevie money from them when needed. I thought the same thing about money but that does not seem to be the case as that was my first thought as well. Being so close and having taken so long, I can see this will take even longer. So again, in holding pattern, and we all know nothing happens fast in that country.

  8. Long story short. Fiance was four days from getting certificate of finality when her ex changed his mine and now wants custody of the kids who he has never supported in his life time. Now they are going to court. Any idea how long these custody cases take on average? Any suggestions? All help appreciated.
