  1. Just a question,

I arrived at the POE in JFK to trigger my green card (I'm in the DV category)

    Payed ELIS Fee: 1st May

    Arrived at POE: June 27th

    Received SSN: 6th July

and then on the 21st July on the USCIS tracker my card has gone into production and it has not moved since. I'm a bit concerned since others in this thread had their GC mailed after a few days in production.

    Any advice?

Production to shipping can take 2-3 weeks, I'd chill for a while. We all stress so much over this, unnecessarily so, imho. It'll come. I'd give it until the end of the month.

  2. Still no updates since July 17th when the case status changed to tell us they were producing the card. Fingers crossed something changes by the end of the month. Can't believe my husband's been here a month already! And to think we waited so long :)

Mine took 11 days from start of production to delivery. It did say to allow up to a month or so, it's been 12 days for you so I wouldn't panic just yet. The status will probably update in the next couple of days anyway. :-)

  3. It may or may not work on there. If it does that means the card is actually in production and should give you a tracking number (which normally happens when ELIS says "closed")

Since the cards come out of Texas, then I suggest, because TSC is behind in most things, it's likely slow with this as well.

Mine came from Lees Summit, MO.

No mention of Texas in the shipment tracking.

  4. Hurray!!! I got update this time today, on my elis account on 17/7/2015. When i checked on uscis online case status, i got thi....on 17/7/2015, we began producing ur card and will be mailed to the address u gave us. My question is, how long it takes to get the card after this message? Thanks...

My status changed 9th July, today 20th July, I received my new card. 11 days from start of production to delivery. It's close!

  5. My case, although confusing, isn't really complicated.

My wife is USC, I'm British, we have two adopted UK children.

We looked at filing petitions for all 3 of us, but after doing some research, realised that our two kids have a right to automatic US citizenship by adoption. So we took that path for the kids and an IR-1 immigrant visa and subsequent green card for myself.

I did all the paperwork myself. So long as you're *very* thorough in your reading and preparation, I don't believe you need a lawyer. I used the VJ forums for info, I also participated in a U.S. Embassy London web chat, which was useful for answering most of my queries.

Had I used the same process for my kids as I used for myself, I'd have also paid lots more.

Their process costs $550 per child. Total $1100.

    My process cost -

    $420 for I-130 petition

    $325 for visa fee

    £245/$390 for medical

    £18/$28 for visa/passport shipping

    A total of $1163.

I saved $1226 by doing my own research, not using a lawyer and filling out all my own paperwork. You can do it. :-)

  6. You need to give it 90 days from the payment date, May 20th. So August 18, 2015.

If you still don't have your green card by then, contact the USCIS and speak to a supervisor. They may put in a service request. If you don't have it by the end of the service request, have your USC spouse contact their congressman or senator.

From payment date or POE date? I guess POE if you paid first, as technically you could pay and not have POE for more than 90 days later. If you enter then pay, then it's from payment date?
  7. @davebrit73. oh i see. But where do u get this update date on elis? Because my only says...case recieved date Feb 25th and and payment submitted 20/may. So, where do yall check update date on elis again?

So yours doesn't look like this?

    Receipt ID: IOExxxxxxxxxx

    Request Type: USCIS Immigrant Fee

Case Received Date: Jun 1, 2015

    Received as: E-file

    Status: In Process

    Status Date: Jul 8, 2015

    Payment: Submitted

  8. Hi!

Our poe will be in the end of the month

Is that normal that elis says "optimized" and "in process"?

    Request Type: USCIS Immigrant Fee

Case Received Date: Jul 2, 2015

    Received as: E-file

    Status: In Process

    Status Date: Jul 7, 2015

    Payment: Submitted

Mine was also optimized before POE. It didn't really mean anything so I wouldn't worry about it.

  9. I checked ELIS this morning and finally have a status change!!

The status update was 8th July - ELIS still shows "in process", but I copied and pasted the receipt number into the USCIS status page and instead of an error, I got this -

On July 8, 2015, we began producing your new card for your Form OS155A, Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration, Receipt Number IOExxxxxxxxxx. We will mail your card to the address you gave us. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

    Finally, something is happening. Yay!

  10. Just trying to get a handle on the process. I was assuming that when the fiance gets off the plane, she reports to customs and they ask a few questions and that's it. From what I am reading this is not the procedure. What is the actual process? Thanks in advance. For the record, my fiance's poe will be New Orleans.

Where is she flying in from? Unless she's coming non-stop from Panama City, Cancun or Punta Cana, the POE is going to be another hub city, such as Dallas/Ft Worth, Houston or Miami.

My process at LAX three weeks ago (today!) was really easy - the whole thing took 6 minutes. I was out in the street within 10 minutes of gate arrival.

The agent opened my envelope, stamped a few pages, took my fingerprints and photo electronically, then I had to go and do physical ink-based fingerprints and sign an I551 application card in a box twice, then I was done. Absolutely ZERO questions, in my case. Every case is different, but it can be as simple as that. Best of luck!

  11. You actual GC will have a 2 year duration (assuming you've been married less than 2 years). Try a 2 year expiration date.

I've been married for 13 years, the temporary green card endorsement in my passport clearly states -

"UPON ENDORSEMENT SERVES AS TEMPORARY I-551 EVIDENCING PERMANENT RESIDENCE FOR 1 YEAR"

I've sorted it out guys, it was May 24th 2016. Thanks!

  12. Hi All,

I had my POE at LAX on May 25th 2015. That's the date stamped on my IR1 visa, which is now valid for 1 year as a temporary I551 until my card arrives.

I returned to the UK on June 3rd. I'm trying to check-in online for a flight to Houston tomorrow and the check in is failing.

    I'm selecting "I am a Permanent U.S. resident"

I enter my green card number, adding A0nnnnnnnn.

What do I use for the expiration date?

24th May 2016 or 25th May 2016? Or select "No expiration date"?

    Any ideas?

Presumably I need to add the 'A0'?

    Thanks!

  13. Given how names are written on an SSN I'm not sure how you can tell the difference betweena middle and first unless all 3 names were written without spaces? My husband's SSN has everything written in a single line. Mine is on two lines.

Anyhow, the green card for you is likely fine.

I found out it was incorrect when I tried to sign-up for ssa.gov

I called the SSA and they advised me that I had three first names and no middle names and that's what was kicking out my attempts to sign-up.

  14. IOE number doesn't show up in case status until you're at least optimized, but often not until the case is closed and card is produced. Then it gives you a tracking number.

You also won't see much movement for at least 3 weeks after POE. I have not seen a card come quicker than that.

Thanks for the advice NLR, I appreciate it.

I also had a name issue with my SSN card - I had to go to the Social Security office to get it corrected - my two middle names were included in my first name, so I ended up with three first names and no middle names at all!

I just had to show my passport and IR1 visa and they fixed it. I'm hoping this wont cause an issue with the green card issuance.

I've already been to the California DMV and have my drivers permit, so there were no problems there. Presumably now I just have to bide my time and wait for the green card to show up, or do I need to speak to USCIS?

    Any ideas?

  15. Hi All,

My POE was 25th May at LAX.

    ELIS shows this -

    Receipt ID: IOExxxxxxxxxxx

    Request Type: USCIS Immigrant Fee

Case Received Date: Apr 2, 2015

    Received as: E-file

    Status: In Process

    Status Date: May 26, 2015

    Payment: Submitted

I received my SSN card on June 2nd, so I'm already all good with that. :-)

I had to return to the UK yesterday (June 4th) to wrap-up some work-related items and terminate my house lease. I did tell the CBP officer at LAX that i'd be doing this, she said it's fine.

So presumably now I just wait for the status in ELIS to change? When I enter the IOE number in USCIS, I get "My Case Status does not recognize the receipt number entered. Please check your receipt number and try again."

Do I need to do anything? Thanks guys.
