1. They will not change your name on your passport, they will only make a notation of your married name on it.
2. Last I remember, the fee is between 100 to 120 or so. Not too sure about it.
3. They will not let you fly with a passport with less than 6 months til expiration. But since you are flying back with a vietnamese passport, I assume it should be ok.
4. I don't believe you need a passport to apply for N-400.

They ask my wife why was she is here and who is her fiance at the time. And also simple questions like did you bring this or that but they will have pictures for you since they know most don't understand English.

We got the marriage license and the certificate on the same day in Alameda county clerk office.
-
The sealed envelope will be sent to USCIS, so there's nothing to worry about besides having a clueless IO who request for another medical. Keep your fingers cross and good luck.
-
you would use the American format, which is 06/14/2007

I sent the original to my wife for her to take to her interview. I do believe you need both original and a copy of the birth certificate for the interview.
-
I wouldn't bet on it. It took my wife about 10 days to get it in the mail, but you never know, it could happen but just don't put your hope too high.

Congratulation! Your green card been approved and you should be expecting it in the mail in about a week or so.
-
typically a week or so you should be expecting your visa in hand.
-
Check can be made from either.

For Vietnam Consulate, just bring as many as you wish, they won't have time to go thru them all. But make sure you have photos of you two together, and photos with families and friends. Do not bring it with a photo album, they won't accept it.
-
yes, you just give them the required information and you get it instantly.

You can just get the transcript online on this link

Thank you and yes she is the Citizen. We have to request it online from the department of vital records from the of Connecticut. She actually had a birth card but the IO said she needs the other one showing parents full names. Also we live in my mother inlaw's house and pays rent. We submitted a joint lease agreement yesterday. Is it legal to rent from her mother?
It might be quicker if you get it from the county clerk office and It is totally legal to rent from your parent or in-law.

You can just date it with a future date close to the interview and it wouldn't be any issue. Just make sure it's not over 30 days old.
-
Having your case at NBC or other service center besides your local center means most likely you will be approved without interview from what I have seen so far from others.
-
We received our letter a few days after the status update. You guys should have got the letter by now. Try calling them or do a e-request to request another interview notice letter.
-
Once they mail the card, it should arrive in 2 days so be sure to look out for the mailman. You don't want to end up like me missing my delivery and have no idea they even attempted the delivery since I never got the tracking number from USCIS and they ended up sending it back to USCIS.
P.S. Some mention putting your name on the mailbox as well to prevent mailman from sending your card back in case they don't recognize your name.

If you applied for AOS under your married name, your married name should already be in the system. We only brought our marriage certificate to have my wife's name changed to her married name and we didn't run into any issue.

Hi TylerTrúc!
I know u got visa , congrats...
Can help me this question?
Example my mother passport is Nguyen Thi Hoa
Visa they give is :
Surname : Nguyen
Given name : Thi Hoa
Ur visa also so same ? Given name is middle name first, then Name is last.
Make me confused?????please help me , do we need to go embassy to fix?
Thanks so much
That's how it works in Vietnam. Middle name will always go with first name with middle name being in front. It's totally normal, there's no need for you to do anything. During POE, they will put it like that on the system as well but you will have no problem entering the US.

I'm guessing they still haven't clear your background check yet so they can't go any further. Age gap shouldn't be a problem as some of VJers have bigger gaps than 22.

Almost, the same thing happened to me recently (not for greencard though) . I was waiting for a package from France. My mailbox has never been blocked by anything. USPS never attempted to deliver. I emailed company in France(thinking it had not been shipped), and they told me it was at the Post Office. I picked up the package (small padded envelope) at my local office and it had a notice on it that said receptacle blocked. The postal worker told me that they were just about to return it to sender, because it had been there 15 days. The next day there was a notice stuck on my front door for the package I had already picked up. Thanks USPS!!!
SMH..

Had similar experience, our fill in USPS delivery guy took it upon himself to return my husbands Immigration letters due to the fact that he didnt recognized his name.(I lived in my house for 14 yrs). SSN cards were also returned as well and we had to get a replacement. I spoke with USPS manager and all they could do is apologize. It took me 2 months after reguesting from USCIS via email to send it again and to find out what was sent and returned. I also write his name in the box so it will not happen again. It is frustrating when we have been waiting for progress for so long for it to be returned just because of incompetence. You are not alone, we are just the unlucky ones....
I made a e-request for them to re-send the card, hopefully they won't give me a hard time and just re-send it ASAP.

Korruptor - I feel your pain. One of your assumptions is probably correct: Too lazy to go the extra step for your delivery. I hold several USPS mailing permits (publishing biz) and have had numerous problems with incompetency. The USPS will often drop a "Notice of Delivery" card with the rest of your mail. This is the little colored card that notifies you of a delivery attempt. However, these cards are often lost or overlooked - it's a horrible system that gets a lot of complaints.
It's hard to avoid the USPS when dealing with government agencies - for obvious reasons. Incompetency breeds incompetency.
Good luck!
I wish they have the option for us to just go pick it up at the office instead of trying to deliver it to us. Hopefully I heard back from them soon and no issue getting them to resend the card ASAP.
Small question

Yes, once you have your AP or green card.
