  1. He already have K1 and we are marrying second week of December. But thanks. I will keep Utah marriage in mind if any of my friends asked. If that option was available like 8 years ago, I wouldn't have to wait for my citizenship to start dating internationally.
  2. Him working right away wasn't really part of the plan regardless. And K1 was our only option since samesex marriages are taking painfully slow in getting legalized in Asian countries. And the ones that legalized it, have painful process to award visas to most people from Asian countries. Anyways, I see that I-485 time is about 18 months. Not sure if consular processing is an option to make it faster? (That's the way I did my green card back in the day)
  3. So my fiance wanted to take my last name, and also change his first name to be more Americanized. (He already chosen that before we started the K1 process. I told him to hold off until marriage, since it would be a little easier). Having gone through legal name change myself (using court order) 10 years ago, I think the procedure is, after the marriage, 1. He has to apply for a new Indian passport? Any documentation needed? Will marriage certificate have both new and old name? 2. Update USCIS record somehow? or just do it together with adjustment of status? 3. Can he apply for SSN right after marriage, since technically will he have the right to work being spouse of US citizen? Or he has to wait until the adjustment of status is processed? (No rude comments please. Just need legally acceptable answers.)
  4. My fiance's visa got approved. The status shows this. Any idea how long does it take from approved to issued?
  5. Check out your timeline, and then watch similar timelines. You can get the answer for those who were recently approved. I seen even 3 to 5 days. When I went for consular processing for my green card in Montreal in 2015, I got the visa next day.. (same day was possible if their system didn't go down.
  6. For those who have case in Ready state, are you able to schedule appointment yet? We are getting the message "No slots available". But again, US mission in India have completely different appointment booking site (usvisascheduling.com) compared to everyone else which is ustraveldocs. Just want to see what everyone's experience had been.
  7. Since US mission in India have separate appointment booking site, compared to everyone else who gets through ustraveldocs, I thought it would be better idea to ask it here in regional discussion. So my fiance's case is in ready state on CEAC site. However when we try to schedule appointments in Mumbai VAC, we get No slots available. Is it the same experience for everyone? For those who recently booked appointment, how long did it take you to find actual appointment?
  8. In Transit as well. Received this in the email attachment The National Visa Center (NVC) received your fiancé (e)’s/spouse’s approved I-129F petition from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). NVC will now forward the petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in Mumbai (Bombay), India. Please note that the transfer process can take several weeks. The U.S. Embassy or Consulate will contact your fiancé (e)/spouse when they are ready to process his or her petition.
  9. K1 is by all means immigrant visa. Because the purpose of it is to convert to permanent resident after 90 days. And yes MNL stands for Manila. NVC case numbers always start with three letters representing the city the embassy is located in.
  10. keep making inquiry every week. Looking at NOA2 date, I am pretty sure you should have NVC case number by now and will most probably shipped to embassy in next Tuesday/Wednesday batch.
  11. Yes, people who guide and follow up after their cases recently complete are definitely assets. Most of us on the other hand just move on.
  12. Your case is already in Transit. Ours is still at NVC. So I am hoping it goes in transit on 29th. My fiance is part of a whatsapp group for K1 visa in India and following the process along with others.
  13. Schedule your interview. if the foreign embassy do not provide PCC on time, try to reschedule the interview.
  14. Congratulations. Our NVC case number was assigned on 15th. So it didn't leave NVC that week. I am hoping it leaves on the 29th. If embassy in Nepal received your case from NVC within 6 days, I am sure so will in India. And I expect the ready state for my fiance on September 4th. Please do let me know once your try to book an appointment, about how far is the first appointment available.
  15. You are asking this in a wrong place. I assume you are looking for K1 visa and not nonimmigrant visa. Look in the Middle East and North African forum: https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/97-middle-east-and-north-africa/ Nonimmigrant visa wait times can be checked online: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/wait-times.html
  16. I received this today (if you don't have actual case number in the reply, NVC may have just updated the response format): To Whom it Concerns: The invoice I.D. number for visa petition BMB***************** is: ********* The beneficiary I.D. number for ****, **** is *********. You will be notified once this case is forwarded to the assigned US Embassy/Consulate General.
  17. Deekol, Please fill out your timeline. You haven't created a timeline yet.
  18. I feel like both replies Deekol received, seem like random standard message. When USCIS has sent it to NVC at the time of NOA2, that's the time NVC should have a physical copy. Received and not entered in the system is just pretty stupid thing, they are probably just trying to keep our nerves calm. It's so stupid in this day and age for data to be physically getting mailed from USCIS to NVC and manual re-entry in the system, when we have super fast cloud technologies available. But I guess they want to keep such delays to slow down people trying to immigrate.
