jv86 got a reaction from J&Radventure in Affidavit of Support and Tax Years
    Hi all,
We have my wife's visa interview at the embassy in Jordan at the start of February and I have filed back taxes in order to ensure the Affidavit is complete. My question though is that I have the returns/transcripts for 2014, 2013 and 2012 but not 2015 as it was not due and still isn't. Does anyone know if this will be a hold up and if it is necessary to file the 2015 taxes (for myself and the joint sponsor) in order for the affidavits to be accepted now that the deadline is so close or will the 'latest' tax return (2014) be accepted?
    Many thanks.

There will be no opportunity to request an alternate spelling of her name prior to the green card being printed. In order to have the spelling changed prior to the Removal of Conditions process, then an I-90 will have to be filed along with the applicable fee. Having it spelled to her preference during the ROC process may not be automatic, a legal document showing her name spelled to her preference may be necessary (you would likely need said document should you chose to go the I-90 route).
Social Security office will probably also want to see an identity document before they proceed to issue her a card with her number.

IMO, you're better off waiting the two months to file (you file a petition, your wife will apply for a visa later). Here is why I think this, while you may receive a quick approval from a USCIS service center stateside, there is no guarantee that will happen (USCIS officially denies auto expediting petitions filed by petitioners who live abroad so if a quick approval did not come, you couldn't argue). Furthermore, you would have to deal with the NVC, the NVC got severely backlogged last year and only now are things starting to move slightly quicker but nowhere near the pace as in the past. By filing at the field office in Jordan, you will still have a the fastest available track even if you cannot file until June because you can bypass the NVC.
