  1. Hello, i've been studying for my interview all day and just now I found a white paper in the envelope that they sent me with the interview date. I don't have that tax form they ask, I only have all our tax stuff that we will present to H&R for the income tax. I also don't have a notarized copy of our daughter's birth certificate. What can I do? my interview is at 8am :( I totally messed up. Also, is it required that our daughter comes with us to the interview? she's in preschool and we don't know if it would be good for her to be at this kind of place or if it would be positive that she's there with us. Thanks for any answer to my question.

  2. Hello! we're ready to mail the packet tomorrow but I'm stuck at a very simple thing, The cover letter. I was looking for samples here and I noticed that some people say "Enclosed please find MY...." while some others "Enclosed please find MY HUSBAND'S/WIFE'S". Who's supposed to sign the cover letter? the previous two (for K1) were signed by my husband but now that I'm the one applying for citizenship I thought I'd be the one signing?

  3. Hello! I came to the U.S. on a K1 visa and have been here for 4 yrs, I was so busy being a wife and a mom that I didn't realize I could have applied for citizenship already (90 days before the 3rd yr if i'm correct..) and well, I had the plan to apply for my parents but now I don't know if I should do it while I'm still a resident or if I should wait till I get my citizenship. I have no idea what to do, I've been reading the guides but I guess I haven't been looking in the right places. Thanks in advance for any help. :)

  4. Wow, God is great. My husband and I sent our AOS papers on July 6th, and on October 11th we received an email saying that they had ordered the production of the card and just now i received another email saying that on October 12th they mailed me the welcome letter. About a month ago we received a letter telling us that our case would be transfered to CA to be processed faster; last month we had several touches and now it's just amazing to realize that they skipped the interview. God is so great.

I wanted to send you guys this message to thank the great ppl of VJ for having helped me/us so much through the K1 visa process and now with the AOS, again, i have no idea how things would have been if we hadn't found this site. May God bless us all, and may He continue giving us the strength to be better wives/husbands.

    Hugs and Blessings.

  5. Thank you for your replies. Well, two days ago I went to the post office and they told me the package wont be delivered and to wait for it to be sent back, they didnt tell us any reason for it so, we decided to mail a second package, we were going to do so today but, we found out that the checks we mailed were cashed yesterday, what can we do now? I called the post office again and they have no info. How can we contact USCIS regarding this? how can we know we dont have to mail that second package?

  6. Hello. Two weeks ago we mailed our AOS and now we have no information about it, we've called our post office, also the one in chicago and the 800 number and they have no info about it; my I-94 expires the 21st (saturday), so now what? will i be sent back home? also, if immigration does receive it, can i check my status using my old WAC number?

Thanks for your help in advance.

  7. Hello. My fiance and I got our K1 on the 22nd, he flew to be with me at the interview and the whole embassy process went smoothly. They let my fiance into the embassy without even asking for his passport, then, they told us to sit and wait to get for fingerprinting, after that, a guy (who we thought was a consular, but he wasnt) called us to check the papers we had, my fiance stood next to me all along. That guy asked us for the papers that have to do with the I-134, we had lots of stuff but since my fiance's income is above the poverty guidelines, they only requested for his last tax return, we were pleased to hear that guy say 4 times that everything looked great. He asked us for evidence and i asked him what he wanted cuz we had everything ready :) we ended up giving him letters from family and friends, a couple of pictures, and 3 letters, it's worth mentioning that it meant a lot that he noticed all the evidence we had, he kept on smiling at us telling us we had more than enough and that we might be asked to add more evidence at the actual interview.

Well, they made us sit down for a couple of minutes and my fiance and i noticed the consular reviewing our file for a couple of seconds, then he took the approval ticket and called out my name. My fiance stood next to me and the consular asked me "is this your spouse?" i said "not yet, he will be, soon, though" he smiled and said "so u guys are going to live in florida" we said yes and he smiled again and asked us where we met, he asked my fiance where he works and what he does, he asked the same thing to me and i was still talking when he said "yeah yeah yeah you are approved, you will be getting your passport with your visa next week" omggggggg, my fiance and i couldnt believe it! the interview lasted less then two minutes!!! we feel so blessed and happy, it is true what they say that if you have a real relationship you shouldnt worry about anything. We thank the Lord so much for having us this present, the day of the interview was my fiance's birthday and he says it was the best because he's gotten the greatest present: ME

Sorry about this long post, just wanted to share our news, and i hope this helps other couples to feel confident about their future interviews. God bless us all.

  8. Hi. My fiance co-sponsored for his brother in law's nephew back in 2001, is he supposed to mention him in the I-134 form? He also filed residency for his parents 3 yrs ago and unfortunately his mom passed away last year in the middle of the process, should he mention her too?

Thanks for your help in advance.

  9. These damm POE officers have to understand that not every culture has the same beliefs and they too have customs and traditions that need to be considered.

ditto! we want a religious ceremony first too, i emailed the embassy and they told me to ask my religious leader if it was possible to do things in that order, and he said yes, so, i just hope we have no problem; they're supposed to respect other cultures' traditions, and mostly, what people consider their family values. Good luck!

  10. Hello. My mom had tourist visa for 25 yrs and it expired two years ago, last year she applied and was denied. Now she wants to apply again because she wants to be at my wedding when i enter with a K1 next yr. I know she has to prove that she has strong ties here in my country that would make her come back, but, what kind of paperwork should she bring to the interview in order to prove that? shes a 56 yr old woman and is retired, my dad's tourist visa expired too but he applied again and it was granted. Thanks in advance for any help you provide. I didnt know where else to ask this question.
