  1. I am totally extatic but little scared that there's been a mistake... I mailed in my AOS papers on Sep 13, received NOA1 about ten days later, and had did my biometrics on Oct 5th. My case was transferred to CSC and touched 3 times w/in last week. The last email I received was on Oct 18th saying that my case was received for processing in California but I just got a welcome to the USA notice in the mail saying that my case was approved and I will get my card w/in 3 weeks!!! I was never called for an interview so I am worried that there was some kind of mistake??? Is this possible that I was approved this quick and without an interview ?

  2. I thought things would get simpler once we got thru getting K1 visa.. but I guess it doesn't end just yet! We're trying to fill out all the AOS forms correctly and would appreciate any help on several points:

I, the foreign wife :), used to live and work in the US some years back but then went back to my home country. Little did I know I would meet an American there and come back, so anyhow, I already have a SS number from before and when I worked, I had an H1B visa.

Given that fact, what would I put on my I-765 application when it asks wheteher I'm applying for renewal or a new EAD card? I would think it is not a renewal since I left the country some years back and my H1B has nothing to do with this application.. but not sure there...

Also what should I put under question "Current immigration status" Am I still a K1 fiancee, or is it something else now since we are married and I will be mailing I-765 along with my I-485?

Another question - we decided that I will keep my last name for the time being. Is that going to be a problem for the AOS process? We already have a joint checking account and I would think that our marriage certificate would be enough of a proof for a drivers license or anything else?

Thanks in advance, not being corny but it would be so hard to do all of this without VJ!

  3. Ok thanks guys for shedding some lights to my concerns as on the instructions for filing Form 1-485, it mentions Police Clearances. So I wasn't sure.

    [/quote

It mentions a police clearance for these cases that are described in an I-485 supplement form. You file the I-485 without supplement forms. So no police clearance is required.

I had to get the FBI clearance for my K1 visa (I lived in the US for 7 years) so does that have any value for AOS process? I was fingerprinted in Croatia and waited for about 12 weeks to receive the report back from the FBI and it would be awesome if they can just use that instead of doing the same thing over? Does anyone know if this is a possiblity?

    thanks!

  4. slowly, am getting crazy.... after i waited so long to get the NOA2 and i was so happy, it seems the waiting time will not end. and, what make me to be frustrated even more is, i have no chance to rich anybody at NVC.. only the f..... automated system. and, of course, they say daily the same... we have not received ur case.. bla bla. after soon 3 weeks??? i ve sent a mail, no reply. thanks.

anybody a idea what i have to do to get somebody there i can talk with? or do they have diffrent numbers?

    its really unbeleiveble... :crying:

Hey Goldie, I have the same situation  ! My fiance is going to call NVC again today, whenever he wakes up over there :), and I also sent an email and still waiting for reply. I've heard that people get Package 3 within 10-14 days after their NOA2 so I'm getting worried too cause we didn't get any emails or any notice in the mail either.. I also contacted the US embassy here in Croatia and of course they don't know anything either. And we thought it was really going well after we got our NOA2 (May 2nd)!

The NVC is nothing more than a point of distribution for K visa applications. All that the NVC will do is pass on your petition to the appropriate Consulate.

Be patient. The next time you'll hear anything is probably when your petition reaches the consulate.

    Lidija,

good to hear others are in the same situation.. but still, i just have no more patience now. and i hate when i cant do anything or cant get any information. well, i guess all we can do is waiting until we hear from our embassys. i thought that the NVC as well send a letter to the fiancee wher they inform them which embassy they will deal with...

Goldie wanted to give you an update of my situation. My fiance called 603 334 0700, waited only couple of minutes and talked to the lady at NVC. She said they received our application yesterday (took 12 days) and that it will be forwarded to the embassy in Croatia in 2-4 weeks!!! Wow that's a lot longer than we expected so I'm kinda pissed but what can I do. Wait like everyone on here I guess.. It was definitely a good idea to call not only for the status updated, but we also found out that they somehow have a wrong date of birth for me in the system and even though they have my 325 form and copies of my passport, they want me to send them my passport pages again so that they can make a correction. I just hope that doesn't cause further delays now. Good luck to you and call if you can't stop thinking about it!

  6. My advice is to not even look at that page! I drove myself crazy and was wondering the same thing cause Nebraska until just recently had early January as processing date, but we still received our NOA2 on May 5th even though our NOA1 was dated Feb 22! So apparently those dates are not correlated and I am not sure what the official date really represents.

As for the time estimate for your NOA2, VJ timeline is pretty good!

    Good luck !

  7. Hello everyone,

another dillema.. my fiance changed jobs since we filed our I-129. Does anyone know whether this could be a problem since his g325 states his previous employer and now I34 that I received will have his current employer? i.e do I need the last paystub from his previous employer at my interview?

    Thanks in advace !

  8. Hey VJ members!

It seems that a bunch of people are getting approved this week! Ours came in yesterday and we were never touched or anything!!! Our NOA2 timeline was around May 17th so I was completely shocked to get an email this morning :dance::dance: !! What a great way to start a day but of course now its really hard to focus at work! Good luck to everyone !

  9. Hey all! I couldn't log on for a while cause of work so it was an interesting read this morning ! Can't believe some of the comments made, seriously, people shouldn't post unless they actually have something relevant to say.. moral lectures really don't count as that..

to everyone that actually addressed my question, thanks a bunch! You were definitely right. my fiance hasn't been married before so that's why he just couldn't find a way to prove his "single" status. I got my normal birth certificate yesterday and found out why they misinformed me last week - in case I was getting married to a EU citizen, I would indeed need this other type of b-certificate and proof of marital status. The lady didn't know this doesn't apply to the States.

Ivona, thanks for the court info, I will look into that, hope to need it all soon :)

  10. I`m confused, why would you need that?

I just got my birth certificate for the interview, and it isn`t connected to your US fiance birth certificate and/ or marital status proof....

package 3 doesn`t mention it, nor did the Embassy when I called....

one tip: for Croatian documents, if you want them to be valid for AOS later, you need to get international verification for both birth certificate, and both police certificates before you translate them

thanks Ivona, not sure what this is all about but I called to inquire about getting my birth certificate and was told that if this was for the purpose of getting married abroad, the procedure of getting it is slightly different and I would need his birth certificate, his proof of citizenship and proof that he is not married in order to get mine?

How do you get international certification? I appreciate any advice on this:)

  11. Hi everyone!

This might be country specific but I will still ask in hope someone has advice. Ok so I need a birth certificate for my K1 interview, but before I can get one here in Croatia, I need one from my American fiance along with a proof that he is single. (or stating his marital status) Does anyone know where he would get that, would that be indicated on his birth certificate itself or would that be some kind of certificate?

    thanks in advance

  12. Hi everyone,

I am really confuzed about the processing timelines. After over a month, Nebraska updated its page yesterday.. but for only 2 weeks, from Dec 21 to Jan 7!

We received our NOA1 on Feb 22nd so given this pace, that would mean that we can expect our NOA2 in about 3 months? On the other hand, visa journey gives an average of 70 days from filing to NOA2 (link below) and I noticed that some people that filed past the date given online, already received their NOA2..

this is really confuzing and frustrating, we can't plan anything.. I need to give one month notice at work so I would love to at least have some kind of idea. does anyone know how this really work and what timeframe to expect?

  13. I was so excited to see online that our case was approved (03/22/2006)...Tears of joy...I hope everyone has a speedy process and many good wishes to all...Thank you so much to VJ and all the members for all the information...April

Great news to all congratulations :dance: ! Dwight I noticed that you received your NOA1 mid January and CA is currently processing apps submitted by 12/31/05. This gives me hope that things could actually be moving faster!

  14. Hey everyone!

Congrats on your NOA2 Milka! I really envy you cause the processing date on Nebraska is still December 21 so I guess for us this means another 3-4 months just for that... hope they speed up!

ok so my question is regarding the DS156K requirement for proof of engagement. What is that? I mean is that the same as proof of relationship or is an engagement ring or some kind of ceremony required at this point?

    thanks
