But your file is not at an actual local office.  It is still at VSC.

However, when they receive your N400 . . . they will suspend evaluation of your I751 and put you at the back of the line for joint I751 N400 evaluation.

And yes, sometimes the N400 moves a little faster than the concurrent I751, so when you show up for N400 they send you back home to wait until I751 is finished.  It has been reported here.

We are often misled when told that we can apply for the N400 at X point in time.

Yes, that is true . . . but we are not aware that this doesn't mean anything will speed up, and more likely will slow down your case.

@Leo7777 my ultimate goal is to get the Citizenship and i am eligible to submit the N400 this month which i am going to do to. It seems like they are already moving my I751 from one location to another which implicates that someone is about to look at my file soon. Based on this, I don't think N400 could move fast enough for them to send me back home and wait until I751 is finished.

    Hi @BizzyD,

Prior to receiving this approval notice, did you get a notice saying your case was received by the local office? If yes, what date was it?

    thanks!

    I am a June 17 filer.

I called USCIS this afternoon and was told that my case got transferred to the local office on April 9th while my online case status still remain the same where they said they received my case in June 17. The representative also said the all I751 applications always got transferred to the local office and the local office is always the one who approves these case.

Can I trust this representative? Sorry for my ignorance but i always thought it is the Service Centers who approves I751 applications.

    Thanks!

did you file with csc or vsc

my understanding is that most cases are reviewed and approved by the service centers,  some do get transferred to local offices, but i dont believe "all I751 applications" got transferred

    I filed with VSC

The processing time at my local office is 21.5 to 46.5 months which means i could possibility wait for another 36 months (aka 3 years)!!!

    This is ridiculous!!!

I am going to apply for N400 online. Does anyone know if USCIA will make me reapply for N400 if I751 petition doesn't get lifted up before the first N400 interview?

  5. London is finally printing as well

    Updated 25 June 2015

London has begun printing nonimmigrant and immigrant visas. We are working as quickly as possible to clear the backlog of pending visa cases and hand your passport to the courier company for delivery. The approved courier will send a tracking message once it receives your passport. You should wait for that message. During this time, we cannot provide status updates by email or phone.

If you have a nonimmigrant visa interview appointment scheduled for June 26 onwards, you should attend but be aware that your application may take longer to process than the advertised 5- 7 workdays. Immigrant visa applicants should also attend their interview but should allow 10 - 15 workdays for their application to be processed.

great news for those applying via the US embassy in London

  6. Hello everyone, we are in the process of gathering our documents since the NVC told my fiancé that our case has been forwarded here in HK.

My question is regarding the police clearance, I am aware that I have to get a police Clearance here in HK since I've been working here since Oct.2008. But before I came here in HK, I also have worked for 2 yrs and few months in Singapore (2006 to Oct 2008). To my question "DO I STILL NEED TO GET A SINGAPORE POLICE CLEARANCE TOO, even though it has been 7 yrs.?

Thank you and I appreciate any answers.

You don't need the checklist for the police report in Singapore. In fact, you are not going to get an official checklist from NVC until you submit imcomple supporting documents. Don't waste your time waiting for it. Instead, what I did was, I provide them a copy of the NOA2 and a screen shot of the case number with my name on it (you can get it here https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/). The guy didn’t even mentioned that word “checklist”.

All they want to see a proof from you that you are applying for the US immigration.

If you are still not sure, call them and talk to them

    Good luck!

  7. Milwaukee ;)

Ah! Yes, says your local office will be Chicago. All good! I love DC, such a beautiful city. It was the first city in the US I ever visited!

Local office means The local USCIS office nearest you and/or that you will be filing at.

I submitted all my paperwork to the Chicago Lockbox. No? I should put DC instead?

ya...the cherry blossom in spring is beautiful too :goofy:
