Davin and Rachel, I just noticed your interview date in Montreal. Congrats!

Don't bother with a transfer now. It takes a week or more for Montreal to transfer the case and then about a month for your interview. If you tried to transfer now, your interview date would probably be after your scheduled date in Montreal.

I've been madly scrambling making plans to go stay out west with some relatives and I have transferred my paperwork to Vancouver. I have an interview date for June 4 @ 10am, which is perfect. This way I can keep my August 18 wedding date... thank goodness!

The names thing should not really be an issue. on the form for the background check, there is a section for "other names used" which should cover that.

Heck, im even thrilled for me! thats one less person in front of us....

Hey .. I had wondered what my results to my tests were .. they had told me that I wouldn't have received the package if I did not have a clean bill of health .. that eased my mind (plus .. you get to actually look at the chest exray )

I dont recall what the name of Rach's doc was (the one in London), but they attached a sticky note to the inner envelope saying all tests were normal at least.

Well, we were hoping to be moved before out our little Emily became a true canadian... But allas... Montrial let us down, and I'm affraid theres no saving her now!

as far as the getting married in canada (with a divorce) part goes... I recently jumped through those hoops, and it wasnt too too bad.. Getting the actual mariage certificate afterwards was the bad part.

Take your US divorce decree to an CA lawyers office... any will do... He'll give it a read through, and make sure the requirements for canadian divorce are satisfied. He just types up a letter, which you then ship off to thunder bay (Allong with your wedding date set)

Once your married, however, you have to apply for the certificate before you can procede with any imagration stuff... that was a 3 month problem for us. They would not expidite it (like they did with the license to get married) because there was no "solid date" we needed it by... so they drug their feet.

Since your looking into making the move to canada... waiting of the actual mariage certificate may not be such a problem for you, as im not sure when/where they will require that.

Montreal gave us an interview date of May 9th at 8:30 a.m. when Jon called through! I'm still in shock ...

holly cow! 8 days notice (like 3 by the time the letter arrives) is a little scary. I'll have to call tommarow and check on ours, our packets arrived around the same time.

Well, I have several theories about this delay now...

a. Montreal hates me.

b. Canada Post hates me.

c. They both hate me and have made a pact to torture me.

d. I have lost my frickin' mind!

I'm trying to keep my cool, but seriously! If it was issued yesterday, why haven't they mailed it... and if it has been mailed, why isn't it showing up on the tracking?

I've had to reschedule both of my exams this week b/c I couldn't take the stress of having to get there at last minute!

I feel bad complaining when I know people are still waiting for their interviews, but it makes me feel a bit better - I just want it to be over!

ETA: there is also the possibility that Michael wrote down the tracking number wrong, in which case he won't even need a green card because I will leave him here (jk).

at the point were at in our lives, I cant give mtl but another month or so before i just start looking for work in canada, and just start the move that direction. My wife and 6month old baby just isnt working out so well staying with her mother... and i just cant afford rent in canada + mortage in the US=P

I could rant and rave all day... but where would that get me?... hehe, lets try some positive reinforcement!

Actually... looking at timelines since january (when they changed over to the different process), montreal appears to be cranking out interviews within a month of packet4. We should be able to tell you if that holds true for us in a few days.

Just filled this out online and while it creates the barcode on the first page fine, the one at the end (on page three) looks a complete mess and certainly unlike any barcode I've seen before - is this right?!

(Had a look at the example forms and they don't seem to include it.)

Yup, thats right. It generates a 2 dimensional barcode that actually contains all the information you entered into the form. Why, they go through all that instead of having you fill out the form and submit it electronicly, i have no clue... use of our government dollars at work again!

but yea.. anyway, that static like gibberish at the bottom barcode is correct =)

so, im sitting here getting ready to fill out the real version of the i-134, and starting to question one little part... i'll have to give a moments background first.

My wife and i are persuing a K3, and durring the course of the process, we've had a child. Since we were married before the child was born, she qualifies for a certificate of brith born abroad, so she is not "immigrating" (i think?)

So... In section 3 of the 134, under "name of spouse and children accompanying", i've listed none, and none...

in section 8, under dependants, i've listed our daughter.

and for my logic:

Even tho she is currently residing in canada with her mother (I lack food recepticals on my chest), for all legeal purposes she may as well allready be in the US. Does this sound right to everyone?

Yea, unfortunatly I dont think uscis uses any form of logical process. I know many people report a few touches in a row just prior to being approved. Mine, however was touchless for about a month then BAM, approved. Seems to be a bit different for everyone.
