  1. Just a quick update on our status.... We had our interview 5-7-2008, got approved, and picked up the visa the next day! Were finaly done! On a side note, our interview was originaly scheduled in march, but we rescheduled due to a sick baby. The bonus of that, is that our 2 year anniversary was in april, so we got issued an IR1 instead of a CR1... so WE ARE DONE!!!!!!!

  2. We managed to reschedule ours in Montreal without a problem. Although, it took almost a week for them to get back to us. (they didnt give us our rescheduled date untill the day we were supposed to be at the interview!)

  3. I suppose you could call it a conspiracy. The big push behind the flu shots... and the government funding to keep them cheap, is to try to curb massive flu epidemics. The strains of flu virus in the immunization are supposed to be some of the more contagious strains.

Why could you call it a conspiracy? well... if 1/2 of the workforce is at home sick, not making money... thats that much less you can be taxed for, that much less product being made, and overall bad for the economy.... ok.. yea... its a far cry to call it a conspiracy.. but the foil hat wearers could cling to that.

As for getting sick from a flu shot... Its not uncommon to catch a cold after any immunization. While your immune system is busy fighting off the fake flu, its left somewhat vaunerable. At least thats the way its been explained to me....

  4. Thanks! well, actually pre-thanks, baby will be here any day (hour?) now...

Is there any other corrispondence we should have recieved since we sent in our RFE? i finaly called the automated system today, to find it was complete on dec 14th, but we never got anything in the mail.... Must be about time to start making some phone calls, make sure its not lost somewhere (granted, not really in a rush... still need another couple of months before the interview!)

  5. We used little "post-it bookmarks" on each document, and labled them original or copy. When you go to turn them in, she'll ask for each document one at a time (and quickly!) so that helps allot to be able to find them as quickly as she's asking for em =)

But yea, as it was said, bring the original and copy of EVERYTHING. They'll return most of your originals except for i134, police and medical at the begining of your verbal interview.

  6. the UPS Store (formerly Mailboxes etc.) also provides a notatrie service. other than that... a letter from your employer and bank... i added pay stubs and tax returns... and your gtg.

I had a little trouble with that form figuring out how to answer one of the questions regarding our daughter.. but that was an odd case.

Someone from the bank should be able to notarize it. We also included a written letter from the employer confirming salary etc etc. Was pretty easy.

Thanks! Hopefully someone from his bank will be able to do it. :)

  7. We didnt get an "ead stamp" per say... on the back of the i-94, she hand wrote "Employment is Authorized." I seemed a little odd to me, and we didnt ask for it or anything. Not too worried about it however, with an 8 month old at home, and another on the way... taking a job right now isnt really part of the picture.

We got to the bridge a little before 8am (hoping to beat the crowds), and it was an hour wait then. By the time we left, the line for secondary was out to the road... so Im not too supprised by a 3 hour wait later in the morning.

  8. Sorry we didnt write up a review for the montreal trip, being as Allie posted what we would have posted anyways being as we were there at the same time. My husband had the bright idea to borrow and trailer and towing with his jeep. Once we finished loading up the trailer last nite, we hooked it up to the jeep and well, the front wheels were almost off the ground, hehe. Well, we made the trip over using the Bluewater Bridge POE today. We didnt have any problems coming over. We pulled up to the booth and told him that we needed to activate a K-3 Visa, he filled the yellow form and sent us on in to secondary, after going into a fairly long gripe about how us guys that are doing things the right way get #######. He said he is glad that the new bill didnt get passed. The officer was awesome, he had a very good sense of humor. Upon entering secondary, we got into line and stood there for about an hour, of course being as its the long weekend, there was quite the line. Once we got up to the counter is was a very quick and painless procedure. She was awesome too. All the officers that we dealt with today were really good. She took my passport/visa, and my envelope. She realized it was a k-3 and said oh, i need to go and get my book. Then she came back, she stamped my passport, a few pages in the packet, and stapled the work authorization into the passport as well, and said that the visa expires in 2 years, and then she said we were free to go. They never asked to see what was in the trailer. I made an inventory list of everything I had, and they never asked to see that either. All in all it was an awesome trip despite having to wait in line for so long, but I suppose that it could have been worse. I am very happy to be home, its about time.

  9. GAH! Now you're scaring me. That's exactly what we don't want happening. She's so excited about moving here with me. Me emigrating to Canada instead wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, mostly trying to sell my house in this market we have here would be the problem.

Market problem in port huron? naw, surely you jest!

heh, had the market not been so fubar'd, i probably would have given up on immagration long ago, sold the house and moved to canada =P

  10. Im pretty sure, if im understanding your situation correctly... You'll need to clear that up with the Canadian Gov. But, if the paperwork says she has sole custady, you may not have much of an issue (other than working out the visitation issue)

Also, im not too sure you really need to go down the road of a formal "adoption", the child should be able to enter under your fiancee's application.

Mind you, this is only my humble un-educated opinion, but I think that all you'll need to do, is come to some form of an agreement with... whatever the canadiian equivilent of "Freind of the Court" is... to either waive the visitation for a year, or clairify that he would need to come to the states to visit. Rest of it should not really be a problem for you (after you manage to get the passport at least)

  11. We had our interview in Montreal on June 19, 2007. We received the visa this morning, June 25, 2007. We are so excited, planning the big move for this upcoming weekend.

  12. Rach ran into the same problem... it seems the size they ask for does not exist. If you measure the envelope in inches (and the letter also gives the size in inches i think), its correct, but ehh.. there is something wrong with their math for the cm measurement.

  13. Our interview went without a hitch... well, mostly anyway! end result was APPROVED, and hurry up and wait for the mail, lol. We'll write up a better review tommarow or so.... still a little braindead from the 10h drive home =)

Next step for us i guess, is to review a few other timelines in life, and choose between finishing up our 130, or doing an AOS.... or if there is even a choice.

  14.:dance::dance: Hi everyone this is Lorry here I have Allie on the phone. He is still in Montreal and not near a computer so I am writing in his stead. We are so very happy to annouce we got the Visa YEAH YEAH YEAH!!!!!!

We both did some happy dancing and shed a few tears of joy.. What a relief to have this portion completed at last.

Now we can plan our life together. Allie wanted me to let everyone know that it went very easy....Every one at the consulate was nice and polite. His interview didnt take more than 4min Whew what a hugh relief. We have both been on cloud nine all day. Allie says he will write a more detailed description of what happend when he gets back to Nova Scotia...... To waite for the Visa Express Post.

We both want to thank every one for their help and support it never would have gone so smoothly with out this site.

All you guys are awesome, wish I could hug you all. (F)

    Lorry :dance::dance::dance:

P.S I Love You Baby cant wait to see your smiling face at the Spokane Airport (L)

Rach and I had the honor of meeting him there, he was first in line before us. Great guy! glad to have met him. What a relief when he walked out the tourcher chamber with a big "Thumbs Up". I think he might have been WAY on cloud 9 about then, as the elevator had a good battle of the wits with him on the way out! Btw, you started a trend for the day, every one of us signaled a thumbs up on the way out of the interview room from there on.

    Huge congratz!

  15. Your missing a couple of things there:

    A) A strong seditive to get to sleep the night before at the hotel

    B) Extra alarm clocks for the hotel, as you wont want to risk oversleeping

    C) An extra pack of ciggarettes to chain smoke on the way to the consulate

    D) A case of beer (or fav drink) for the celebration after!

heh... mabey we'll see you in Montreal, we'll be there all day monday.

  16. upon recept of packet 3... you mail back your checklist indicating that you have completed all the forms, including 1-134. However, given the blazing speed at montrial... allot has changed since i filled that out.

i've changed jobs, which also renders my letter from employer obsolete... have my 2006 tax returns now, etc etc...

Should i fill out new copies of everything before the interview? or do they actually want the stuff from 6 months ago? I suppose the safe answer is to do both, and have both copies handy....
