  1. My wife had an interview 21 March where she received 221 g. We submit the documents requested and on 9 Apr we received another 221 g on 9 April 2017. We responded with documents on 2 Jun 2017. We are on AP.  Yesterday the CEAC showed our case "at NVC" it switched back to AP shortly thereafter. I called Manila and after some phone calls figured out that the birth certificate we requested of the PSA had been returned due to error in  delivery. I was assured it would be redelivered by Friday to the US Embassy. My question is this since the CEAC changed to "at NVC" from AP and then back does that mean they found issue with our papers and had already denied her but changed it back to AP after noticing the birth certificate was missing and they are just waiting on the birth certificate to deny her? CEAC is scaring me. Its a CR 1 through Manila. Thanks

  2. In brief my wife was given a 221 (g) after her interview on 21 Mar 2017 We responded immediately with the requested documents. On 9 April we received yet another 221 (g) asking for completely different documents. We responded with the requested documents via 2go  and they were received  according to the Embassy on 1 June 2017. All papers were included except my wife's birth certificate that was dispatched direct to the Embassy on 31 May 2017 via E- Census. The CEAC showed our case was last updated 2 Jun 2017. I immediately contacted the Embassy to ensure that my wife's birth certificate had been added to the correct file. No response from the email of the IV Unit so on .9 June I contacted the customer service desk who escalated the case and informed me that my wife would get a status update within 1-2 business days. Still nothing and CEAC shows zero movement since 2 June. I have recalled the customer service desk in Manila several times and sent two additional Emails. Time is ticking away as my wife has a medical that expires after 6 months in early August. Any ideas on how to ensure that all our documents have made it to one file and are in line for review? I am worried that the birth certificate of my wife that was dispatched directly to the Embassy did not make it into the correct file. Should we order another one? I am confused 1. How to proceed and 2. Why Manila IV is not responding to my emails. I sent them other emails not related to this issue and they have always responded quickly. I wonder if Ramadan could be slowing things down as I know there is a small but significant Muslim population in the Philippines and I have thought they could be short staffed. I am not a Muslim but have been told that many Muslims have short work days during Ramadan fasting If so, when does the Muslim holiday end? Thanks so much and may God Bless Us All

  4. My wife went for a CR1 Interview on March 21. She was given a 221(g) which we replied to. On April 9 we received another request from Manila. She took 2015 tax returns to the interview. Now they are asking for the last three years tax returns of my cosponsor as I have no income. My question is my cosponsors filed an extension. Should they immediately file 2016 or would 2013, 2014, 2015 be what I send? If I send 2016 taxes will they need updated I864 & I864A from my dad and mom? What about updated bank records? 3 months or 6 months for self employed? Just getting a little nervous because I definitely want to send all that is needed so they can issue it this time. My wife's medical will expire in August so I really need help ASAP

  5. To Whom It May Concern:

I am the legal spouse of . Our CR1 case number is . My wife was asked at the interview for proof of a shared life together. The officer asked my wife for a joint bank account or joint debts such as house and lot. I returned to the US on February 8 of 2017. At that time, we had no joint house and lot or any other significant debt in the Philippines. We also did not establish a joint bank account because we were afraid that it would be misinterpreted as us trying to establish ties outside the US and thus damage our case as it relates to stable domicile   My US bank card worked while I was there and since my departure we have used Western Union to allow me to send financial support to my wife.  Throughout our time together in Silay our focus was on maintaining my US domicile and preparing for a life in the US which to my understanding is the purpose of the CR1 spousal visa; to unite families on US soil. I have, however, taken steps to strengthen our ties and demonstrate a marriage in good faith. Enclosed you will find a recent life insurance policy and Last Will and Testament both naming my wife as sole beneficiary. Should any further evidence be helpful in your adjudication of this matter please let me know. I was thinking to turn this into an affidavit and sending it to the Embassy explaining our lack of shared life evidence. CO hats on everyone. I realize there are no guarantees but I would love for some of you guys to tell me what you think

I believe you can only provide whatever you can. On blue sheet, they say that if you can't provide anything, explain on a signed statement. That's your best bet. Good luck.

Thanks Nancy. How would I search VJ for other members who might've encountered the same roadblock. I feel that you are correct a signed statement is our best bet. I'm just curious as to whether or not that would be effective

Do you have anything financial together?  Like joint bills, or that she is the beneficiary on your life insurance or you are listed as next-of-kin at her work etc?

Also what proof of a bonafide marriage did you provide already?

Hi penguin thanks for your response. We presented pictures, western union receipts, travel to Thailand together proof. We have no current joint bills but would be willing to undertake them if we can figure out how being that I am now back in the US. Life Insurance is something I can do but I don't have a policy now.

  8. My wife was given a 221 g today in Manila. The CO asked for some additional documents. All of the additional proofs I understand but one; that is the proof of life together. According to my wife there was a red flag that my wife and I established no joint property, bank accounts etc while I  was in the Philippines for over a year with her. We didn't do anything because we both thought that would show me with ties to the Philippines with no intent to reestablish domicile. Now here we are if we try to establish something now I am afraid they will view it as last minute stunt trying to avoid a fraud charge. I feel like I am in a hard place either way. Please help with your insights and thoughts  .

  9. Your wife must be able to prove that she has intent to return to USA with you or before. To prove that she must show ties to the US. That can be accomplished showing she maintained things like bank accounts, driver's license, contact a realtor about a place to live and others. You must be able to convince the Officer that her stay is temporary and that she is making plans to resume her life in the USA and the more firm plans she can prove the better. Don't know how strict your Embassy is and others I sure have more ideas as to proof but at least this gives you a starting point. God Bless and good journey

  10. Hello everyone!

I'm new here.. I'm waiting for my case to get completed, I submitted all my supporting documents also paid all fees, it says "N/A" after it said completed once...

I dont have any idea what is going on.. Please help.

Hi it's possible that is good news. The NVC could have your case complete. Call them to confirm. Also it would be helpful if you would update your timeline as it would allow us to know where you're at in the process and help us to answer any country specific questions as you approach the Embassy stage as expections of Embassies vary. Thanks and May Christ Bless You in your journey.

  11. My wife and I were married in the Philippines what is needed is another cenomar from the NSO that shows she is now not free to marry. You apply for a cenomar again same as before. This time you will get a cenomar that says our records show 1 likely match...it will list you and your wife as well as date and location of the marriage. It's a little ridiculous but for some reason it's needed. Just apply for another cenomar pay 140 pesos you'll get what you need. God Bless You on your journey
