  1. Hello, I am a US sponsoring my brother for an F1 student visa. He has been accepted to a regionally accredited uni for his MBA program. His interview at the US embassy in Nigeria is a few weeks from now.

    1. As the sponsor which documents should I submit?

2.Does the embassy have the AUTHORITY to pull up my bank accounts to see how much I have? I have a letter from my bank stating my financial solvency. Will that letter suffice as proof that I will be able to support him financially or do I need to send more documents?

    3. What documents does he need to provide? I already sent him the i-20.

    4. I am also in the military, I don't know if there are other documents that I should provide from my job to facilitate the process ..

    Thanks

  2. I went for interview (AOS from B2) sometime last month, I did fairly well but the fact that my name wasn't on my wife's lease and some discrepancies in our answers about our living arrangement raised all d red flags.. I received a mail saying "intent to deny petition" 2weeks after. The mail basically highlighted that our lack of proper evidence to prove a bona fide union raised doubt on the validity and authenticity of our marriage.

I was given 30days to come up with evidence such as *lease agreement * joint asset * affidavit from family and friends etc and any evidence of old experiences.

My question is this, if I decide to take her away from her current apartment and rent a new apartment with both our names on the lease, would it be a desperate move? Because attempts at including me on her current lease have been futile.

We had a joint acct that was closed by the bank for lack of activity bcos I didn't ve a job then. Will adding her within this 30days to my acct be viewed as a desperate move as well?

I need your candid advice pls!!! FYI, we are in a TRUE relationship I was just poorly prepared and nonchalant in gathering evidence.

  3. I went for my interview today. The IO kept us waiting till they attended to everyone else before telling me that they want to start recording the interviews and that she wanted to start with me. The IO was very rude and aggressive, I guess the fact that I and my spouse have a different address raised all the red flags. Anyway, she based almost all her questions on our living arrangement. She didn't open the photo album nor check our emails and text message . Finally, after interviewing us separately with much scrutiny, she gave me a form stating that our interview us being held for review. Hopefully I get approved soon...I answered all the questions pretty well though. Success to everyone going for interview soon!!!

  4. Just returned from my interview and we were approved on the spot! I was so stressed out heading to the interview, and it was all for no reason. The man who interviewed us was so nice and made us so comfortable. We answered a few yes/no questions and other than that the only question he asked was how my husband and I met. I think the whole thing took about 10 minutes. He congratulated us and told us the green card would be in the mail. I can't stop smiling!

My advice to everyone is to just be positive, keep good thoughts, and don't get too stressed out. Everything will be fine! Thanks everyone for their well wishes and advice. Best of luck to everyone here!

    Congrats

  6. You should be able to start the process after you AOS interview, make sure you get a stamp on your passport for your approval. Actually, go speak with them before the AOS interview, they'll probably ask you to take a pre-ASVAB to see if they'll work with you, once you take that, go to your AOS interview, get approved and go talk to them. They'll start the process but you'll have to wait until you have your physical green card to do a couple of things like MEPS.

Have you spoken to a recruiter yet?

Not yet.....I plan on doing that after my interview because of my job.
