  2. Well still no AOS touch yet....

Kaffykat did you manage to speak to an immigration officer? I think i'll call on monday as that will be my 31st day since it was transferred with still no email of being received. Congrats on finally getting some info on your case, it's good to know it made it safely out to california!

James and Miranda, looking at your timeline I should be right next to you, so here's hoping for that EAD on monday!!

Have a great weekend CSCers and hope next week picks up for us all!!!

    katie

  3. Hi James and Miranda, I too have been transferred to CSC but have received no email from them. I was transferred on September 14 and aos was last touched on 15 September. I called the mis-info line and they said to wait 60 days from last email to call them again. Congrats on getting your EAD approved, I was touched on that yesterday, the only time since 22 August so i hope i'm not too far behind you!

  4. Hi James! Congrats on getting your EAD! I sure hope I get mine soon, my NOA date is August 8th so I'm just a little bit behind you. It's weird that our cases were both sent the same day and still both haven't been received, probably lost in some bottom-less pit somewhere. Well, happy job hunting, hopefully that will be me soon!!

    Katie

Stina, Hope you have a great trip back to Canada!!

  5. Although I'm not Russian, I just wanted to say hi to you and yor wife. I live in Illinois, i'm in the St. Louis metro east area, and have really found it quite a tough area to find friends. I've been here since June and understand your wife's loneliness. My husband is originally from the Peoria area so we are back and forth a lot. I don't have any suggestions on how she can make friends unfortunately, I just wanted to let your wife know there are other people in Illinois who are going through the same thing as her! I hope things pick up!!

  6. This question goes to Katie and Kattykat,

I also was wondering where my receipt e-mail had gone aswell, but fortunately I got it yesterday. Have both of you got the NOA of case transfer to CSC in the mail yet??

I was thinking that at least that would be something!?

    :(

Sharky, I received an email saying it had been transferred on 14 September and I received my NOA in the post, but as yet still no email saying they've received it. It was sent 2 weeks ago now. It's frustrating but oh well I guess there is a lot worse that could of happened and I should be thankful that the hold up is now when I am with my husband, and not while I was doing the K1. Well tomorrow is another day and maybe then they will receive my case....but I won't hold my breath

  7. I worked in Walt Disney World for 10 months, I worked in Epcot and it was great. I know you said it was quite a ways for you to travel to but I would definitely send your resume to them. They may have things in I.T where you could go in once or twice a week and then work from home etc for the rest, it's just an idea. I loved working for them and although I left to move back to england and do the K-1 visa I found that having disney on my resume has been at least a conversation starter and was great when i applied for jobs back home. Alternatively you may just have to take any job that comes your way, I believe there is a saying "it's easier to find a new job when you already have a job than when you have no job", or something to that effect.

  8. I had my medical back in February. They will ask you to get changed into a gown and then you will have a chest x-ray taken. Then I was seen my a nurse who went through my vaccinations and told me what vaccibations I would need to get, then lastly I saw the doctor. He went through a five minute spiel on HIV/AIDS, looked at ears, eyes, weighed me and then took a sample of blood. he then tested my reflexes and prodded and poked my stomach for some reason. That was it really. You can ask for a female nurse to be present if you want. All in all I found it to be a somewhat painfree experience.

I also had my visa pics taken while I was there I just walked in and had no wait time. I went to the one that the embassy gives as an example in packet 3, it was in Oxford Street. It looks a little shady from the outside but I couldn't grumble with the prices, I got 4 for about 11 quid I think which was good when I was quoted 20 quid from the photographer in my town.

Good luck tomorrow, you'll be fine!

  9. KaffyKat I know just how you feel! My EAD hasn't been touched since 22 August so I won't be working any time soon! I was so relieved when my case got transfered to csc but i'm beginning to think it was more of a curse :P The woman I spoke to said call back 60 days after the transfer email was sent, so I still have another 46 days until I can find anything out. Keep me posted on your situation, at least it's a comfort to know that there are others who are still patiently waiting for our 'case received' email!

  10. Congratulations Stina, that's great news that you've been approved.

Well I still haven't received an email from California about whether they have received my case or not and it got transfered 2 weeks ago. I called the mis-information line who told me I have to wait 60 days before I can ask them to look into it. I'm starting to get a bit worried that my case got lost in the post!

Kaffykat have you received the email that they've received it finally?

  11. Maria,

This happened to me also when I went for my medical in London. They will try and get you to have the injection done there but it's quite expensive. I asked them if I could go back to my GP and get it done there if I needed it, but I was sure I had it done at school and they said that was fine as long as I faxed them a letter from my doctor saying I had it done. If you decided to go this route they will only realese your results to the embassy when you have faxed them through the letter. I went home and called the school I attended as they are supposed to keep a list of all immunizations (this is what my doctor told me to do) Well it turned out they had no records of it and I ended up getting it done at my doctors for no charge. You will need to get it done for when you go through AOS, I would get it done in the UK rather than the US as it is so much cheaper back home.

    Katie

  12. Lina, I'm very sorry to hear of your situation, hopefully things will improve soon and he'll see what he's missing. About the paying in- slip, don't worry if you don't pay it before 30 September, the embassy can either send you a new one if you call them or on the day of your interview you can go up to the guard in charge of letting everyone in and they have a supply of the paying in slips there and he'll just give you a new one. There is a barclays bank about 10 mins walk away- that's what I did.

  13. Hi Lina, I postponed my interview once I got the date. They only sent me packet 4 one week before my scheduled interview date and I was going to be out of the country at the time, infact I was visiting my fiance in the states, so I sent them an email and wrote them a letter and they postponed the interview by 12 days so that I could get home. I think I remember it saying on packet 4 that they will only postpone it for emergencies. I guess you could call the embassy call centre number (It's expensive but when I called they told me what to put in the RE: line of the email so it got to the right department faster) It didn't cause any red flags for me as I was approved and received the visa the next day, but I would think carefully about why you need to postpone as they are going to need a reason, I had to send them a copy of my flight plans to prove I was out of the country.

    Hope this helps!

    Katie

  14. Hi I just wanted to add myself to the list of CSC transfers. I checked the USCIS website thing today and it said I was transfered yesterday to CSC for my AOS. Hopefully this means no interview for us! My DO is St. Louis, my NOA date is 8/8/06, biometrics were done 8/22 and I was transfered on 9/14, they only acknowledged that they received my RFE back on september 11th so things have moved pretty quick since then. Hopefully none of us will have to wait too long to get approved!

  15. I actually met my husbands parents before i met him! They lived in the UK for 2 years and his parents, his brother and sister were regulars at the restaurant that I worked in at the time. I never even knew that he existed although i knew his family. In fact I even met his grandma and grandpa before I met my husband as they came over to visit and came to eat at the restaurant. It was about 8 months later that my now husband and I were introduced my a mutual friend and I realised that he was a member of the family that I always served. The reason I never met him was because they used to come to have lunch after going to church on a sunday and he never went as he had always gone out on saturday night and couldn't be bothered to get up early enough to go out and eat!! We've been together 5 years now and I get on with the In-Laws really well.

  16. I'm in the exact same positoon as you, i just received an RFE for my I-485 application and it was for the I-864. I called the USCIS and was put on hold for an hour (i don't know how i managed to handle that music so long) and finally spoke to an immigration officer who told me that they are in fact not rules but guidelines and that they can ask for whatever they want as many times as they want. I pointed out that the I-864 states that if you send in an IRS transcript you do not need to send them copies of your W-2 and that is why I got RFE'd so i guess they do really have the power to ask for anything. She also admitted that they do lose things so it's best to send in the whole I-864 package again not just what they asked for, and label it as 'duplicate copy.' Another thing to be aware of is that although the form tells you to keep all originals, where you can they do want originals, the immigration officer told me that i should have sent in the original version of the employment letter etc and just kept a photocopy for myself, when i did the opposite and retained the originals so she suggested i send in the original of that also if i wanted to avoid another RFE. It's so complicated, if they just had a transparent system and followed rules it would be so much easier. How are we supposed to comply and give them what they want when each officer may want something different? I guess it's just luck of the draw as to which officer you get....and if you wait long enough to be put through to the immigration officer on the info line they really are quite helpful.
