The officer took my expired green card and also the extension letter and told me he's gonna shred it as they are no longer valid and I-551 stamp is as good as green card. Is this normal ? Giving away green card ( though expired) was a weird feeling .. lol
I am sorry for that! I had the same feeling this could happen to me but instead they told me to keep both GC and letter.

It has to be within 30 days of it to expire. First time you call you will speak to a Customer service representative who will just write down your info and within 48-72 hours a real Officer will call you back. They are the ones that will schedule it for you, and if it’s not within 30 days they will just ask you to call back.

OMG I’m so sorry that’s awful to hear... you have to wait out of the normal and on top of that when you submit such thing to see what’s going on you get the most blunt answer from them? Wow.

I got the letter about a week ago about being Transferred to Lee summitt, MO. I don’t know if I’m getting a interview or not the letter just said it was transferred and I might get one

Hello everyone!
I just got in the mail a letter from USCIS... notice type: transfer notice. “We have completed a preliminary review of your case. We transferred your case to the following office so an interview for your case can be scheduled”.
Is this a sure bet I’ll be getting an interview or can they still approve it after a few days?

Walking off a successful early walk-in attempt here in Dallas just an hour before they close. Easy and done!

I had previously had a 'waived biometrics' earlier in the year. Hopefully this means that the case is nearing completion or at least, moving on to the next step.
The application is in California, and has not had any notice stating it's been transferred.
Same. I have an appointment next Monday for a new biometrics after it had been waived early in March.

I get my case # recognized on the new USCIS website (no recent update) but not the old egov website. Old website has always returned with "invalid case number..." 😕
What’s the new and old website?

Hey there.
well I’m the best person to tell you that.
i have been out of the country I think at least 17 times after I got my extension in June coming back at many diferent port of entries all over the country and I have also done 3 cruises.
And I can tell you one think: they don’t even look at your face, I have spent so far less time at the immigration booth than when my green card was still valid haha. No longer than 2 minutes, never any questions, anything that would make me discomfortable whatsoever.

Travel abroad after I-751 before receive green card

Hi guys,
urgent question.
I am a current I-751 applicant, I have a stamp on my passport saying that I’m a legal resident extended for another year.
I am supposed to fly out tomorrow abroad to see my mom and in the main time my I-751 application got approved and in the approval letter it says something like:
“You should not travel outside the United States before receiving your new card, as you may have difficulty reentering the United States. If an emergency arises and you have a need to travel outside the United States prior to receive your permanent resident card, you may make an appointment at your local USCIS office to request a stamp in your passport that shows temporary evidence of status as a lawful permanent resident.”
my question is. I already have a valid stamp that shows evidence of my current resident status that I’ve used to travel before, would I need another stamp or am I good to go?
