mdcatelliI don't have an answer for you, but as a fellow San Diegan I am interested in this as well! A month and a half behind you in processing and getting quite impatient about it.
I have an answer guys. So technically speaking, what the update says is that as of May 31, 2016 they were processing November 2nd, 2015. Which means that they should technically be processing January right now. They are not. BUT - what this also means is that if your processing date is AFTER November 2nd, you cannot make any kind of inquiry at all. If you call USCIS they will tell you they have no further information to give and will do absolutely nothing to help you.
So monkiwiland - you and I will have to wait another month until we can put an inquiry in. Once they update their page again in August, and if it's past November 5th, then we can make a formal inquiry.
I am the same November 5th processing date as you btw. I'll be sure to let you know if I hear anything before august - but I HIGHLY doubt it.

    Hey monkiwiland,
I am also in San Diego. With the exact same NOA1 date as you - November 5th.
I actually havent had an update since December 9th, so also 6 months.
In my experience so far - they will not talk to you because we are still 'within normal processing time' since they are processing September 19th.
Now having said that, they havent updated their site yet for the month, but I suspect it will be a mid-October update for processing AT BEST. Which means we'll have to wait another month at least.
I am also trying to figure out my options and I'll call them again in the next few days if they don't update their website, because if I don't get my interview before september of this year, I have to re-start the whole 485 process again because my medical will expire and I need to renew my canadian passport. Needless to say, I'm pretty antsy.

Is anyone still waiting for their I485 approval? Especially in southern california?
Also- has anyone had a situation, whereby they initially had the notice change to 'waiting to schedule an interview' to direct approval without the interview process?
I'm in San Diego and have had no news since my biometrics on December 9th. Getting a bit frustrated and feeling forgotten by the system.

    Hi Everyone,
I'm not sure if I'm the only one - but I am actually frustrated by how over the place everyone is on this board. And I think it's because there is no single, clear post that states a timeline as well as all the steps of what happens after you get your NOA2.
I am hoping - begging - in fact, that someone who has already scheduled their interview PLEASE post a full post about everything that happens from the time you get your NOA2 approval in an email to the time you scheduled an interview.
I know (and I'm sorry) that this is too much to ask - but this would clear so much for everyone who is somewhere in between getting their NOA2 and NVC and NVC and embassy.
There is no clarity on what is happening, and no one really answers questions fully.
I tried to post a list of questions by timeline a couple of weeks ago, but except one person - no one really answered. If this is a community of support, then I please ask those of you who are ahead in your immigration process to not forget those that are slightly behind. We are in the dark, we don't know what's going on, and we have 10 posts trying to clarify one questions that in the end gets confusing and ultimately loses meaning.

    Come on guys. Please.

I'll even repost my questions on which you could expand:
    1) After you get your NOA2 (email and hard copy), the next thing that happens is you get an email confirmation a few days later from the USCIS that confirms that your case has been sent to the NVC.
--- After that --- I don't actually know what happens because this is the stage we're at. So -
    2) How do you track if your case has arrived at the NVC?
    3) When you call the NVC, appx 10-15 days after you get an email from USCIS confirming it shipped your case, you ask for a new case number. Which technically should be assigned to you immediately on the phone?
    4) After your case number is assigned to you, is your case considered 'ready' for the embassy and gets sent to the embassy THE SAME DAY? If not, how may days pass before this happens?
    5) Some of you have said that once you get your case number from NVC, you can begin tracking where you case is via something called CEAC? No one explained what this is, where to find it, or how far it can track your case?
    6) BECAUSE, at some point, you can't track your case via CEAC, and have to track it through DHL?
    7) Then someone says, that there is some kind of a trick to tracking your case via DHL? There is no clarity on this whatsoever....
    8) At some point, if you are able to track movement of your case from NVC via DHL, it gets to the embassy, and the case status goes to 'READY' - presumably this is what you see what you type your case number at the DHL site? Yes? No?
    9) You then either wait for the embassy to call YOU, or YOU call the embassy and ask for packet 3?
    10) Packet 3 gets sent to you, and you confirm all your paperwork is complete. This is also when you complete your DS160 form, send them a confirmation back, send them a fee payment confirmation back.
    11) Embassy gets back to you and schedules your interview and medical?

    Am I right? Wrong? Off?

I'm really hoping we can all work together on this to clarify all these questions for all those still waiting.
    Thank you.

    Hi Everyone!
Looks like we can officially join this thread after waiting 210 days for our NOA2 approval. We are still elated but are now also wondering what comes next.

First, I just want to say that I am immensely thankful for this website and for the contribution of everyone who shares their stories and relevant information. I’ve read every post in this thread just to gain some information on what happens next. I am somewhat confused and I’m hoping you guys can help clarify things.
My first question is actually about where you are all gaining this information? Is there a website that outlines what happens after NOA2?
Other than that, here is a list of my questions based on what I’ve read in this thread:
Based on what I’ve read here, once you receive an email that you got your NOA2 approval, there is generally a 7-15 days delay so the application is still technically at USCIS. When the application leaves the USCIS Texas Centre you get an email notification that it has been shipped to NVC (DoD). Is this correct? Some of you were able to track when the package with your case arrived to the NVC from USCIS by listing the exact date of when it got there. How did you track the arrival of your case to NVC? Then you wait about 1-1.5 weeks and begin calling the NVC to get a new case number? Who is able to talk to the people at NVC? The petitioner only? Or can the Beneficiary try to call them as well? Is there a particular term that this ‘case’ number is called? Or is it just ‘new case number’? In regards to the DS160 form – can I fill this out and complete it without getting the new case number from the NVC or am I not allowed to complete it without the new NVC provided case number? The NVC generally takes about 7-10 days to process your case. After this it ships your file to the embassy. Presumably it gives you a tracking number (if so, does this get emailed to the Petitioner?) You are then able to track your case on its way to the embassy via this CEAC link that one of you posted? Am I correct in that? Once the file is physically at the embassy, what kind of message do you see through the CEAC? Once the embassy has your file, it sends you further instructions on what to do? In general, do people communicate with their embassies via email and phone? Or do they physically mail you the packet 3 requirements? Is there anything else required from us while we wait for USCIS to mail the packet to NVC and the NVC to forward it to the embassy? Thanks so much guys!
