Isn't your daughter a US citizen? Why would she need biometrics? :)

She is; but on the form they ask to list children ( I believe it’s part n5) and in the instruction they say that the biometric fee needs to be charged also any dependents listed in part 5, which means the children... so does it means I don’t have to list her on that part?? I am so confused :(

  2. Hello there! I have to send out the I-751 form along with supporting docs for my green card. I understand my fee will be 595+ 85 for biometric fee, but what I don’t understand is, do I need to pay another 85$ for my daughter?? she was born on June 2017, and I am not sure as she wasn’t part of my green card application at all 2 years ago ( she is 5 months now). Thank you!!

  3. Hi there!

I was wondering if anybody can help me figure this out...

so Ive received my EAD on oct 19th, 2015, and today (nov 30th) Ive received this letter sayig the USCIS has identified my application as potential interview waiver case, so possibily my AOS will be approved without an interview. They also said, the USCIS is having a 6 months delays, so I might had an interview,..

So what does it mean? does anybody had experienced the same, and is there any negative side of this? what should I expect? any help or advices from whom received the same, it will be very very much appreciated!!

    Thanks

  4. Hi! I was wondering if anybody here can help me with an issue we are having at this moment..

I am in the US with a K1 visa, got married and on the process of my AOS ( just done my biometric appointment). My husband is going to be hired pretty soon for the company he has been working for about an year.. so I am supposed to be added in his insurance once he gets hired.

the issue is...I don't have a SSN ( I applied after I got married, but it was too close to the 90 days expiring visa) and now I cant apply until I will get my work permission. Is there a way I can still be in his insurance right away? Perhaps using my alien number..? I have been reading online about the Obamacare, but I didn't get an answer.. and also we called the insurance that will cover my husband and they weren't helpful at all (they said he needs to talk with he Human Resource that are hiring him....)

any suggestions and help would be more than appreciated!

    thanks

  5. http://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn is a helpful guide on what to do for a k-1 visa holder in order to have your SSN.

I went to my local office last Thursday and just received my SSN.

    1. Have the SS-5 Form filed and ready (k1 holder are Legal aliens ALLOWED to work)

    2. Print out the RM 10211.530 document. It shows we are allowed to have a SSN.

    3. Print an Electronic copy of you I-94 ( https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/consent.html ).

    4. Have your passport with you.

    5. I also brought my original and translated Birth certificate in case they needed it.

You can NOT obtain your SSN if you are married. The lady clearly asked us if we were married, because she had to deny a SSN earlier. If you are married, you have to wait for your EAD.

If you don't print the form and fill it, they have some at the office. Just make sure you have the document in case the person helping you doesn't know you are allowed a SSN.

If you need help, ask away!

EDIT: I just saw you are married. So you will have to wait for your EAD/AP card, sorry. :(

thanks a lot! unfortunately when I went to apply for it (after our marriage) the lady didn't say anything about it.. even if I specified that it was my first one applying.. she said congrats, ur application has been forwarded, and u aren't out of time... untill now, when I got that mail saying they couldn't give to us! but as long as I can apply after I get my EAD.. the call center lady of

the ssn said I couldn't until I had my green card in my hands..and to be honest of that was the case I would have freak out! not able to

work for who knows how long?? no way.... lol. but thanks again!

  6. Hi! I have a question for anybody who has been on an k1 visa...when I moved in the States, nobody told us either what to do first or after..we go married and right after it we applied for my SSN, chaging my last name.

When I went at the office, I told the lady that this website (visajourney.com) says you are supposed to apply for it at least 15 days before the expirations of the visa.. She looked at me and saying that website is not reliable and once she enters the information, the computer would tell her if I was on time or not.

Well everything went fine, she told me my application was being accepted and all..so I just waited patientely to receive it until today, where I got a mail saying "WE CANNOT ISSUE YOU A SSN CARD AT THIS TIME BECAUSE YOUR LEGAL IMMIGRATION STATUS WILL EXPIRE BEFORE AN SSN CAN BE ISSUED..(just as informations, I applied on mine July 20th..my visa was expiring August 10th).

I called the ssn customer service an a very rude lady told me she doesn't know, and probably I have to wait until I have my green card to apply for it again.

But I also read here that u can apply for it once uy receive ur EAD, u can apply it.

So what is the correct answer?? if I have to wait for my EAD that's fine...but if I cant until I have my green card, that means I cant work possibily for a year (or how long it takes )???

if they font consider this website reliable..where they say u have a certain amount of time to apply for it?? because other than here..I couldnt find NO website saying anything!!!!

I hope to find here some reliable and kind persons!

    Thanks

  7. oh I see. I wasn't sure because when I read the instructions about it they clearly said for those emergency, work purposes etc, but nothing about traveling for pleasure.

another question, do I need to attach a sheet explaining why I want travel out of usa, and attaching any documents to prove it? ( I won't have any document with me since if we are going, we won't book it until next year...)

  8. Hello! I hope somebody can help me figure it out this...

Im from Italy and got in the USA with a K1 visa, we got married and all, and now we are putting together all the papers in order to proceed with my AOS ( adjustement of Status).

I am aware this process might take a long time, up to years too sometimes, so I was wondering this: next year we will have a bigger wedding in the USA, so my family can attend it, and after we would like to go for 1 week in Mexico.

Do I need to ask any kind of permission to leave the USA and re-enter? if so, which one? I read u can file a paper called "advance of parole" but that is for "urgent humanitarian reason,or personal family emergency, but I believe an honeymoon trip is not part of it.

I read if u don't file any document they might deny ur re-enter in the United States, and u have to apply for another visa ( I definitely don't want this happens!!!)

Thanks for any suggestions and help!

  9. hello! I am Italian too and maybe it is not helpful but I kinda had the same story...I used to use my ESTA to travel in and out the states to see my boyfriend, until they stopped me and telling me I was abusing of it. Literally, they flew me back to Italy without a chance to see him. I have to be honest I was scared as hell, but after a month we decided to try with the fuance visa, since getting married was part of our plan at some point. I was really scared about the interview and the fact that they denied my ESTA..well they didn't mentioned the topic until the final interview in Naples ( so the visa was been approved already) when they asked me why my ESTA was been the denied and I just told them the truth..I was visiting my boyfriend but apparentely it was getting "suspicious", and that's why we decide to do thing in the best way! we started our process on late January, and Im here in the States since May:) so don't worry! just keep saying the truth, and u will see nothing will happens:)

  10. Hello!

so yesterday i got my k1 visa interview at the consulate, in Naples (Italy). the interview went well! it took me about 10 min with general questions and at the end the consuler told me congrats, my visa has been approved.

After that he said somenthing about receive my tracking number but to be honest I was too excited- nervous to listen carefully (my bad....!!)

This morning I went check my CEAC status and it says:

"Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. Please follow any instructions provided by the Consular Officer at the time of your interview. If further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved, it will be processed and mailed/available within two business days."

What does this mean?? te consular never said anything to me...just that it was approved!! it is normal..??

    Thanks for the help!

  11. I'm not familiar with the K-1 visa but was he maybe talking about the border crossing fee of $160? Below is a link to the state department's website about fees. You can also find more information there about the k-1 visa.

    http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/fees-visa-services.html#temp

thanks a lot! I was reading the website link u sent me but..I dont see anything about the K visa...so I should be good, right..??

  12. Hello!

I need your help about a question..is that true that for k1 Visa we will have to pay an extra fee of 125$ once we arrive at the airport in the USA? and if so, where is written that??

Today and tomorrow I will be at the usa embassy for my visa interview and I met a guy that just like me, he's doing the fiancee process..and he came up saying something about this extra fees...it that true, or is he misunderstanding???

    Thanks a lot!!

  13. me and my fiancé we tried many times to call but we never reached the line.. so I thought "alright, I will just wait to receive the packet 3 and that's it. "

but some days later my fiancé got a mail from

the NVC where there was our case number! so once we found it I tracked our case on the CEAC website, and once U see it's written "ready" it means ur embassy has received it...

the benefit of knowing in advance he case number is that U can check it out where it is, if it's already leaving the NVC, or just arrived at the embassy. Usually after some

    days it's showing up

on the website that it's "ready" the embassy will contact U... if that doesn't happen, U can call

them, and with U case number U can ask further informations about it!

Im sure it will;) when was ur NOA 2 approved? and through what USCIS u went?

  14. A little late seeing this topic but I'm wondering if it is required to call NVC at all?

If I don't call them, I will still receive packet 3 eventually (when it is ready) and it will contain my Montreal case number, correct? Is there any specific benefit to finding out when they received and sent the petition to the consulate?

    Thanks!

  16. How long did it take the "Your case was approved" to change to "Sent to Department of State for Processing"? ...matter of days or weeks?

mine never changed to be honest.. my NoA2 had been approved on Febrary the 19th, and since that day my case is still on "being approved" but meanwhile it has already went throught the NVC (we were NEVER able to reach the line, and we were trying eveyday) and it has already been sent in my embassy in italy! we found out our case number because my fiancé got a MAIL!!
