Good day all, our k1 visa was approved 2 weeks ago, I am the beneficiary, can any one help with what I can or should do pending when I am contacted for interview?
-
hello wbeem, tsc recieved our response 22nd April and we got approved yesterday. Thanks for the adviceThat sounds hopeful. However, if it is to go back and collect the passport, what a cruel thing to do to make a person wait in anguish for days instead of just saying that they are approved. I will make a point of checking back to check on you guys anyway

they wanted additional evidence of relationship, evidence to show we had a relationship before he filed and sworn afidavit from friends. So, a lil over a week after they received your response? Can I ask what your RFE was?

Thank you Wbeem. You are right. Would mail via FedEx or DHL.I can't speak from personal experience as we did post hard copies with wet ink signatures. You might want to search some profiles from Nigeria with a similar consulate and see what their experience is. I would imagine they would want an original, signed letter, but reports of this are conflicting. I'd be inclined to rather wait a little and let the actual letter come by mail. They won't send another RFE for the same thing and if you are denied on this basis, you have to start all over again. Better to lose a few weeks than to lose another year in waiting.
Is there an express mail service like DHL or similar from Nigeria?

Thank you Wbeem...One quick question, they want another letter of intent from me, I am in nigeria, it will definitely take a long time to mail these letters to the US, the best option I have is scanning. Do you think USCIS will have an issue with it.Why don't you get three Affidavits and get the two of the people providing a sworn statement to endorse the third one. That was you have three separate ones, plus one signed and witnessed by three people and all your bases are covered. It is probably more than they are looking for, but at least you have all your bases covered.

We got the RFE notice today, they want an affidavit from a friend or relative Who have personal knowledge of our relationship and intent to marry. They want two other persons to confirm this affidavit. I want to know if it means getting three letters from 3 persons or just one letter and the other two persons confirms.....I need clarification please

We got an RFE yesterday requesting for more evidence, we are yet to get the notice explaining what exactly they want us to provide. Any idea how long it takes on the average to get this notice?

you are not alone , we got NOA1 08/06/2014, still waiting for NOA2. ..just hang in thereIs there anyone on this thread who hasn't been approved yet? Even with an RFE at least you get something..but hearing nothing at all for like 7 months is pretty sad especially when you haven't seen your fiance in that waiting period..

I had my interview today 07/16/2015 at lagos embassy. My experience was a nice one. After the routine check I walked into the waiting area with my number tag. I waited patiently until my number appeared. He was calm and nice, not intimidating at all. He asked me just 5 questions, after answering, he said "congratulations, your visa is approved". I had just two pictures and some evidence of relationship which I was afraid were not good enough because I couldn't get our conversation log. I didn't allow it get to me. I was confident, the CO was not even interested in what I brought. I think this interview process boils down to how well you know your fiance, sometimes they wanna look into your eyes and see the truth rather than relying on the documents you have to present. For nigerians, my advice on the introduction which is a requirement before marriage in our tradition, do not make the mistake of saying yes if asked if there was any exchange of gift, money or food, also look out for the types of pictures you present because it could be misinterpreted as marriage. We had our introduction too and when asked I said no to those questions. Just before me I watched how a guy tried convincing the CO that the exchange of gifts was a tradition and not the dowry. The CO was not convinced and he was denied. Congratulations to us all who got approved, the wait was a long one and for those still waiting, soon enough the wait will be over. I am totally grateful to all VJ members, your contributions and advices helped me greatly all through this journey. I should have my visa handy in two week.
