Hi all
My understanding is that SSA actually gives you a new social security card. So it’s not just update of citizenship on their records.
I assume that my old SSN card is still “valid” since it’s got no restrictions on it and the new one can be a spare.
thanks

NEXUS is essentially a cross border information share between CBP and CBSA. You're still associated to the original documents entered into the database. You'll still be tied to your Canadian passport.
My bigger question is how do you intend to return to the US without a passport? As a USC, you can't enter on your Canadian passport. Some people have managed to come across by land with their Naturalization certificate, but it's frowned upon.
i can return to USA with nexus card alone (if driving or flying from Canada)
https://help.cbp.gov/s/article/Article-3618?language=en_US
I went to a global entry enrollment center, showed my naturalization cert and had my citizenship added to the nexus profile. Once that was updated I ordered a replacement card That says US citizenship ($25) and got it in 3days.
I wonder if I have to bring my US naturalization cert so Canadian customs looks at it (at a *nexus* enrollment center ). When I got my 10y green card Canadian customs gave me flak when I tried to cross w nexus and I has to go to the center. Hoping not having to travel w the naturalization cert. ideally I get a US passport in time and I’ll just visit the joint office and show the passport.

I’ve crossed the land border plenty w my kid even during covid. Kid has nexus also. American born but has dual citizenship. Never had a Canadian passport nor do I have Canadian indicated on the nexus profile. I just travel with the Canadian citizenship cert, just in case.
Was never asked by Canada customs what citizenship we were just where we live and how long we are staying.
I suppose now the border is open to Americans also so I suppose it doesn’t matter how they perceive me. Altho I haven’t crossed since they implemented the arrive Can app so not sure what kind of info they require (during covid id verbally provide the address where I was planning on staying ).
in any event , after calling American nexus enrollment line they said I have to have US written on the card now.
I requested a replacement online. It cost me $25. I’d expect this to be a free update like when you move and get a new drivers license.
the good news is that the new card came in three days so I at least have a travel document for the US citizenship.
if only Canada had a passport card also. That would be perfect.

Hi guys. Wondering the same. If I go to a passport accepting agency like USPS or county clerk office fo they keep the original naturalization cert or just compare it to the photocopy (non certified) that you bring ?
thanks

Hi all
I had both my jnterview and ceremony this week. No oath same day but only a few days after. It’s a super convenient office so I didn’t mind
Notes from the interview:
I listed speeding tickets under citations and the officer edited those out. The related question where I put those in n400 is intended for criminal/misdemeanor issues.
that’s about it. It’s quite surreal.
good luck to all!

Hi guys
I am a dual citizen now. I plan to get a USA passport but delays are making it a 4 month lead time and I want to travel back and forth between Canada and USA in the mean time (air and land )
My nexus card says CAN on it. I went to global entry office state side to add naturalization cert to my profile. Do I have to carry it with me when crossing the border now or the nexus card is sufficient ? I can request a replacement card online I was told. Would it automatically print USA on jt under citizenship ?
I'm concerned in that case about crossing back into Canada. If the card says USA on it will they automatically recognize me as Canadian when I scan the card at the airport or at the land border?
thank you

Ohhhhhhh this is fantastic ! Thank you for confirming. I have mine scheduled in a couple of weeks. Also at 7:15 AM.
it is great not only to have it same day but also have it in the morning as well. I may not even need to take a day off work at all if I can have similar experience as you.
wo 7:40 am you were done with both interview and ceremony. That’s amazing !
Can prob go and apply for a passport right away then ?

My notice showed up right away. However, the website is limited if you log in through your phone. When you sign in to your USCIS account and go to "Documents" you will see downloadable pdf files under "USCIS Notices" section.
Also, do not hesitate to call USCIS, they will be able to confirm your date, time and place of interview.
Good luck with your interview!!!
Wow. Thank you so much. I did that. And I see the letter. Aug 4th. 🤞

Hi, if you have an online account with USCIS you will be able to download a pdf file appointment letter. You will also receive one through the mail in about 10 days from the day of status change.
Thank you. do you know soon after status change do you see one online ? Thanks.

Hi guys. My address was updated. It took them 2.5 weeks. Now to just get a revised case completion estimate. (august 2020 online filer)
Hi guys less than a week after address updated I see my status changed to interview scheduled. I guess you don’t get kicked to back of the line at new field office if you move. -
Hi guys
How long after “interview scheduled” Under status will the actual date of the interview be displayed? It says that they will be mailing me a notice. Curious if there’s a place to see the date online or it just isn’t showing until some point ? How long did it take for you to see the date once you saw the status online change ?
Thank you

Hi all. Does anyone know how long it takes for the system to show an updated estimate for the new office once you do see your new address updated in the profile ? Side note, I got bio reuse letter in feb (Newark FO) but the new FO is taking biometrics. I called the call center and the reuse is still valid w the new office.

Hello
Newark field office here. aug 2020 online filed. Moved out of state last month and I updated my address via USCIS website.
I was supposed to get reply to address change request last week. How long do they normally take ?
my new field office is scheduling bio appointments but i already got bio reuse letter in feb. assuming this is still good ?
hoping that the new office speeds things up for me.
thank you

Hi guys. I posted below in the Newark thread as that’s my field office. Wondering what y’all class of Aug 2020 say. Thank you !!!

Hi guys.
filed 8/30/20. NOA date 8/31/20. Initial estimate was April 2021 but it’s moved between June and may since then. Got GC via marriage but waited 5+ years to file for n400 so did it via more simple solo filing.
anyway. Wondering what you guys think about timing. I got the bio reuse letter in Feb 2021.
i am moving to Florida over the next 1-2 months. (Ft Lauderdale field office) and am wondering what the chances are of the interview to happen soon before or after? Wondering if doing address change will speed or slow things down at this point ? I have access to both Nj and FL houses and am shuffling back and forth for next couple of months so if Newark interview is imminent I’ll hold off on changing residences officially (like license , car reg, etc)
the online login says my application is being processed by national benefit center… not sure if they will ever show it’s local until the interview update shows up. What do you guys think ?
Thank you. -

I’ve been logging in regularly and it’s been saying June then may.
got bio reuse letter in February.
Today I logged in and saw the below.
Odd. Docs section still shows bio reuse letter. .
it still shows “ is being processed at our National Benefits Center location.”
Newark is my office.
has anyone seen their profile w the below message ? Does it indicate a change soon?
Your next milestone: receive your biometrics appointment notice
Time until decision:
approx. 2 month

my estimate also shows May 2021 but not sure if this is reliable from what I've seen here on VJ...
What was your estimate when you filed ? I filed end of august 2020 and initially it said April. The longest it dropped down to was July before this May status

Hi guys. Late august notice date. Online filed. Just got bio reuse letter yest. Estimate says May but hoping I can get it done by April as I maybe moving by may/June. I’ve read Newark let’s you do oath after interview. Is this standard ? Thank you.
(Ps my orig estimate was April but it’s fallen to June but now says may)

Went to the page where you check receipt number (instead of logging in) and saw this. “we received your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, Receipt Number XYZ, and mailed you a receipt notice or acceptance notice. It is being processed at our National Benefits Center location. The notice describes how we will process your case”
so it’s not processed immediately by the local office ?

Thank you all. I got my citizenship proof sent back to me and a letter that a new card is coming. My old green card one doesn’t have a restriction on it so this will be a nice backup to have.
