  1. Hi,

I am trying to create a USCIS online account so to see if my address is up to date, since I will be sending in my I-751 this month.

However, to verify my ID on their side they require your A number (which I have) and a DOS number, but I am unable to find it anywhere. The instructions say that it can also appear as an IV number on your visa, but I do not have an IV number. Instead, I have something called Control Number, but it does not have the 3 letters in front of it or the correct amount of numbers (has 4 extra, just 0001) any suggestions as to whether control number is another version of IV number, or where I can find my DOS number?

    Thanks!

  2. Hello,

    I am currently filing an I-90 as I received my GC but it has an error on my DOB. It's an error on USCIS side (we spoke to them and they confirmed). Now, I'm trying to file out the I-90 but I am having a very hard time. In part 3 it ask;

    1. Location where you applied for an immigrant visa or adjustment of status.

    2. Location where your immigrant visa was issued or USCIS office where you were granted adjustment of status

I am really lost, I have tried looking around online but I still can't seem to find a certain answer. What am I supposed to write? How do I know in the first place where I filed? I can't remember... My case # starts with MSC, does that mean I should put National Benefits Center, MO as my answer for 3.2? And as for 3.1 what do I put? :/

Complete Item Numbers 3.a. and 3.a1. if you entered the United States with an immigrant visa.

I came in on a K-1 visa. I assume I need to file 3.a and 3.a1 then? My POE was JFK so I write New York??

Thanks in advance, hope someone can help! :)

  3. Hello,

    Good news, and bad news..

Today I received in the mail my conditional GC, I went to check the information and my birth date is wrong. This was originally a mistake made from our side when we filed the I-485, but we called later on to get it fixed. From what I understand, I need to file out form I-90 but do I need to pay the replacement fee of $450 (I think) or is it the USCIS? (since we called to get it fixed but they didn't seem to take note of it).

If someone could give me a step-to-step of what I need to do to solve this problem, I'd be super grateful - this has been a roller-coaster of emotions since day 1 :/

  4. Thank you! We actually went yesterday and was told to wait 2 more weeks. She explained it was due to his long name. They must have made a mistake inputting the information and needed a longer time to verify. I just hope when we go back in 2 weeks, they won't tell us the same story. It's been 2 months! We know people who received their social in 1.5 weeks. ?

    Good luck! :D

  5. What number did you call? When we call our local agency, the same agent tells us to wait 4-8 weeks and hangs up.

Same thing happened to us but no one is telling us of a status.

I tried calling multiple times but the people that work at the agency can't do much more than check on their computer screens and tell you if your SSN ahs been issued or not. We were getting really frustrated and decided to go in person back to the office and found out our SSN had been issued the same day (even though the day before we were told it could take weeks still) so I'd suggest going there in person. Face to face is a lot more useful than over the phone :)

  6. Hello,

My husband and I have just recently moved from NJ to California and we are currently filing our application for health insurance through Covered California (we do meet the requirements to receive some sort of aid - which I understand is allowed, even as a K1 in the process of becoming a Permanent Resident). I have already sent in the AOS and I am waiting for my EAD to arrive.

As we just moved, my husband is still trying to find a job so while filing out the application it asks for the income of both;, I am unable to work and he does not have a job yet. This therefore results in 0 dollars as an income, which means that according to Covered California, we are only eligible for ObamaCare (at least until we start having a decent income). Am I allowed to get health insurance through ObamaCare?

My main concern is: Will we be breaching the restrictions of the K1 Visa process by accessing Healthcare through covered California? And to what extent can we be assisted (Tax Credits, etc)?

  8. Hello,

I received the news today that I have received a SSN - finally! My I-94 expires May 7th and I really want to get a drivers license so I can get around. My SSN card should be coming in the mail sometime next week and that leaves me with approx 8 days until May 7th. I'm planning on taking the written test right away, but as I don't think I'll be able to also do the driving test within the 7th, is it possible for me to take the driving test once my I-94 is expired or would I have to wait until my green card is produced? We've tried reading up on it and apparently an EAD is also valid to take a drivers license (as proof of residence) anyone that has tried it that way?

  9. Hi,

My dad is the joint sponsor for me and my now wife in our K-1 visa process. In Form I-864 part 5; sponsors household it asks to provide the amount of people sponsoring in the affidavit (1) and then list persons NOT sponsored in the affidavit (1 for myself and 1 for the optional in item nr.7 "if you have siblings, parents or adult children with the same principal residence who are combining their income with yours by submitting form I-864A) My wife and I currently live with my parents, did we insert the correct amount of people (a total of 3)?

  10. Hello,

I arrived in the US on the 8th of February 2016, I am now married and would like to send in the AOS. As we're looking through the necessary papers to send in I see that they mention the form I-693. I know that is for people that do can't find their DS-3025. I do have one but I can't figure out if I'll need to send the I-693 along with it.

I have attached what my DS-3025 looks like :)

I was not asked to get any vaccinations and I see that my Panel Physician also marked the US vaccination requirements as complete. Would sending in the DS-3025 along with previous vaccination papers (not coming from the panel physician) be safe or do I need to send in a I-693?

  11. Hello everyone,

(K1 visa) February 18th 2016 we went to apply for a SSN and we thought everything went well. Well, it's been more than 4 weeks and still nothing. I called and they said they had to send in some documents and it would take max 40 days (they said they sent it in on March 14). While I was looking at the piece of paper they gave me the day I applied for SSN I saw that the guy at the office wrote that my passport expiration date is 01/07/2014!! What are we supposed to do? We're planning on going to the office tomorrow and point out the problem we but don't want to risk delaying anything any further. Would they be able to fix it by sending copies of my passport (is that what they've been doing?)

  12. Applied February 18th and still nothing. I've been calling every week and at first the lady said it could take up to 40 day.. Called two weeks later and she said it could take up to 6-8 weeks.. They keep giving different information and I'm just surprised it can take them 40 days to send a photocopy (which is what they need to do).. If I were to take 40 days for every photocopy I'd be 5 years behind! But I guess we can do nothing but wait :)

  13. Hello everyone

This is mainly a question to those of you that have already applied/received a SSN card. My fiancé and I went to apply for a card the 18th of February and we just now realized that we might have unknowingly requested them to manual verify if we are in the system (even though the officer didn't mention any of it). We went there and he requested for our information and gave us a piece of paper at the end with my reference number saying "...before we can issue you a social security number card, we must verify the documents you gave us to show your aliens status with the federal state..." And "... If the office verifies the authenticity of your documents we will mail you a social security number card..." Did we unknowingly agree to get a manual verification? :/
