  1. PTSD can be treated, BUT if you are on the receiving end of a barrage you also need support.

Someone has to take responsibility, resources exist like http://www.meetup.com/topics/ptsd/ as well as the more formal http://www.ptsd.va.gov/.

Some ex-military do not go the formal route for fear of judgement or being perceived "weak" by their peers. There is no shame, some who suffer have reason to with extended or repeated exposure to high stress environments/missions. Others were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time for a single incident.

Your employer needs to know as well. There may be support via HR for Vets and their families ( not all employers are hire and fire, especially when it comes to possible backlash for "stupidity" on welfare matters).

You cared enough to ask a question and give some details, if you leave your wife, who does she have to help her?

She helped you to make a life change, you needed support and her help when you arrived, not dark moments yourself in a few years time wondering what could have been done to help her as you look back on your life and its start in the USA.

  2. Spoke with centre yesterday, matter unrelated to filing but travel, frequency and other pointers because of elderly family-in law in the US and some "what-if scenarios."

Asked as well about: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processingTimesDisplay.do - as out of dated and as usual you wait long enough on the phone and it is updated!

It was confirmed that work was underway on June filers and that the workload is still heavy. Staff shortages have not helped due to budget allocation and the need to cope with the backlog of "problem cases" which do not go away.

I am tracking this forum to see what I will expect to encounter down the line! As an Aug filer I hope this info helps as more people view than comment in the forums.

  3. A number of May filers using Nebraska have gone through NOA2 and others are "still in process" or got transferred..... read previous I-130 monthly filing threads to source information.

I think dialling in here onto VJ every week or 2-3 days hoping to get movement plays with your head more than it should. PLUS the USCIS environment for checking, taking their time is strong if the press run such stories as this:

  4. I caught the post on voting and resource re-allocation.

We all applied too early and in the wrong year because:

    • Not all those who get a Green Card will be able to vote locally/State level, the citizenship request upswing is less about voting in Nov and more about making sure a person is safe and secure if they feel the rules will change with the new President.
    • And this will make you happy: https://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/overview states "supporting the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) transition to launch the new myUSCIS which makes it easier for users to access information about the immigration process and immigration services. To institutionalize the dramatic improvements that this approach has demonstrated, the Budget supports the Administration’s aggressive goal of hiring and placing 500 top technology and design experts to serve in the Government by January 2017"

I am guessing Nebraska is closing a mix of May and June files at present based on the posts, unless of course you come from the Phillipines which strangely has a hit and miss completion of 1-3 months for files, as in our August filers list one has already got their NOA2 ( CR-1 or IR-1 unknown). It is a pattern which seems to repeat through the other months.

  5. - IR-1 will receive 10 year validity versus CR-1 will receive 2 year validity.

Problems to be aware of for CR-1

CR-1 needs to file I-751 to remove the 2 yr limit condition on the Green Card AND PROVE MARRIAGE is alive, well and a real one .....IMPORTANT ... file I-751 c. 80-90 days prior to expiry date because if you miss it, you could lose legal permanent resident status.

Sorry, I cannot edit the post above ...... A.

  6. The forms are the same.... I-130 BUT the visa - green card is different.

    The difference is:

Married for less than 2 years at the time of getting immigrant visa (CR-1), entering the US with immigrant visa, a conditional green card will be issued. That person would have to remove conditions after 2 years of GC issuance.

Married for more than 2 years, is awarded IR-1 immigrant visa - status with no conditions.

  7. I think we can help others by publishing timelines when we succeed and finish the process for Nebraska as some stats on this site are scary .... 0- 2000+ days!

I am planning in my head on 5 months having filed in Aug the I-130, yet it is not USCIS who play with my head the most.

It seems every airline are now emailing me cheap flights to the USA ..... no not booked one yet, it is so tempting, hence "thinking" 5 months and visiting places I may not see for a long time and taking pics etc.

Limbo land and airlines do more damage than timelines which to be honest I am clueless on.
