  1. @ jklm2010

Haha I'm not even at NVC and this is bothering me ... Kabul's that bad huh?

How long were you guys at NVC until it was sent to Kabul?

The scan date of our last package was May 21st and we got our case complete on July 2, so exactly 6 weeks....and that was

after I was after NVC's ### every day or every other day until I got a supervisor review and then actually spoke to a supervisor too.

NVC is so much worse than USCIS, at lease USCIS has an accurate timeframe of how long they're going to take with our cases.

And by the way, our case is still sitting at NVC because Kabul hasn't given them an interview date yet

  2. I'm sorry to say I don't have the answers to your questions, but I just wanted to tell you that you are an awesome person for not selling your cockatiel away or abandoning it. Birds don't get the same attention and love as cats and dogs do and it's sad when they're considered as temporary pets. My cockatiel has been with me the past 3 years and he is my baby and very spoiled and is outside of his cage all day. Your bird is lucky to have an owner like you

  3. It took six weeks for our interview to be scheduled. I emailed them asking to schedule the interview three times, and the third time they explained that it typically takes the embassy in Kabul six weeks to get the petition, to review it and to schedule an interview for us. The last email put us at ease and the timing was right on. Our interview was scheduled for four weeks after we received packet three/four. However, we were able to schedule a medical appointment before we received the packet three/four.

I would also suggest getting MRP before the interview if your spouse doesn't already have one! Maybe I should create a new thread on that topic...

O...m...g......you gotta be kidding me. 6 WEEKS??? That is total BS!

    That is so DEPRESSING! :crying:

And what's MRP by the way?

  4. Yeah, I think that's a good time frame. We got our embassy appointment letter about four weeks before our actual appointment, so you should have time to get the medical done. I don't know if there was a delay or if they embassy still needs to sort through them - that part wasn't too clear to me. When my guy had his medical, they told him they would send the results in three or four days to the embassy. However, in our case, we didn't get the medical done until a week before because my fiance was out of the country taking his final exams. So there is a chance ours didn't make it, but my fiance said that no one else's results were there either.

One thing for the medical - the clinic information says that you need to give 12 passport sized photos, but it's actually 12 photos that are 3 cm x 4 cm. We were able to get an appointment scheduled before the interview date, but at that time, his final exam schedule hadn't come out yet, so when we knew of those dates, we had to reschedule.

Another thing that I would like to share is that I think the Afghan and Iraq embassies have an extra workload because of the SIV. So I think this means that both embassies have a lot more cases to review and they probably struggle with their case load. The Kabuli embassy site is not too detailed; it just gives some basic information, but the Baghdad embassy site has a little bit more details and explains AP a little more:

    http://iraq.usembassy.gov/221g/what-does-a-221g-refusal-mean.html

I think the Kabul embassy sees about 150 applicants each week (probably on Tuesdays?) so if about 30 of them are fiance/spousal visas, and all are put in AP to review the case documentation, then I can see how they get backed up and try to get to everyone's case can be a challenge. Hopefully our patience will outlast the AP wait!!!!

Ugh stupid SIV visas......they need to have a special separate group of people for that category alone so the rest of us don't get backed up because of them.

And I didn't even know that 12 photos are required I thought it was only 2, is that what they said on their website or something??

Yea I think we'll schedule the medical 3 weeks before.....for now we're just still waiting for an interview date :clock:

    Thank you for the information.

  5. I think it should be perfectly fine.

That's what me and my husband did.

We got a legal court marriage in our country and went through a bunch of signatures and courts and stuff but did not have a ceremony because we decided to have a ceremony here in the US.

As long as you go through the proper ritual that validates you and your wife as married in your country with papers to prove it, you should be fine.

    Good luck!

  6. Awesome! Congratulations to you too !

Do you think the interview can happen in August ?

Omg I am HOPING sooooo much that it does.

August was my estimate too, but we'll see.

I can't rest my mind until we have an interview date...at least then I can't count down to something you know?

  7. after submitting DS260 how long does it take for us to hear any words from them? does anybody know?

Unfortunately it's still the 30 days

Hubby called NVC at 930 pm today .Case Completed! :))))

Congratulations! Mine got completed too on July 2nd :D

We're on the same boat now which is waiting for an interview date. That should only take about a couple of weeks hopefully.

  8. Thank you everyone for the replies and info.

I just called NVC again and talked to a representative this time and before even letting you ask any questions they tell you that they will not be able to view any information on their system at all until late Monday.

    This is just absolutely ridiculous.

All of us who are/have been stuck at this stage should have priority over any incoming cases so we can get on with our lives already :protest:

  9. Hi everyone

So I just tried calling NVC to inquire about our case and the automated message reported that NVC inquiries for immigrant visas are unavailabe from July 2nd (today at 3:30 pm) until 7:30am Monday July 6 because of technical difficulties in their system??

Anybody have an information on this? Because I thought the month-long technical problems were pretty much taken care of at the end of last week (that's what a supervisor told me on the phone). Is this a new wave of system issues or what?

Ugh what an absolute HORRIBLE time to be stuck at the NVC :crying::clock:

  10. Hi guys.

Just wondering...our case got put under supervisor review even though we don't have any checklists. What is up with this? Is it normal??

The DS-260 was completed on May 1st and the last package scan date was I believe May 21.

I'm calling every single week even every few days. When I called yesterday she said "we're a little behind so it would be best to check back in a couple of weeks"

"a couple of weeks"! That's so frustrating! A couple of weeks might not have any meaning to them but a couple of weeks goes by like months for all

    of us who are waiting!

So anyone else have a similar experience with supervisor review without any checklists?
