  1. Thanks for the advice so far. We are in the process of filing for her AOS, and from what I have read I need to wait until the AOS is pending before filing for EAD. What else would I get from USCIS stating we are married? I called my local office, and unable to contact a person. I emailed them but who knows how long before I get a response. Why is every step have to be so difficult. Shouldn't there be a set standard of exactly how things are done.

Most people here file EAD together with the AOS. And, you only need a certified copy of your Marriage certificate to establish that you are married for the AOS. Or are you needing this to include your wife in your insurance (as you mentioned in your previous post)? If this is the case I don't know how others did it, but my husband just filled out the forms in my married name with my SSN and gave them a copy of our marriage certificate. I got included in his medical coverage without a problem. Hope this helps.

  2. Hello Mike,

I also came on a K-1. I first applied for a SSN before we got married and had no problem getting my card. After the marriage I went back to the Social Security Office to have the name on my card changed to my married name. I just brought with me a certified copy of my marriage certificate and filled out the SS-5 form again. There was no problem with that, and I got my card in the mail a week later.

Maybe you can try another Social Security Office and see what happens.

  3. Hello PW and everyone here in this forum. I finally got to LAX from Manila via Taipei on Tuesday, 31 October. No problem at all in the POE. For K-1 visa holders, you use the line for visitors and give your passport, the sealed envelope, I-94 (which the flight stewardess will issue in the plane) and a customs declaration form (also given out in the plane; you have to fill it out even if you are not declaring anything).

I was attended to by a Filipino immigration officer who opened the envelope, stamped my passport and attached the departure portion of my I-94 next to my visa. He took fingerprints of my left and right index fingers, took a picture, asked a few questions and that was it. Everything was very straightforward and fast.

I wish everyone here waiting for their visas the best of luck. If you have all your documents in order, there is nothing to worry about.

  4. I have good news too. We're approved!!!! Wooohoooo!!!!:dance::dance:

More info after i've calmed down a bit.

    Congratulations, sillygirl! :dance::dance:

That's interesting. You click the link and the electronic form available is ONLY the DS-156, but NOT the DS-156K or 157. You suppose the other two forms will be coming in electronic format a little later?

Try this link also. I filled out all electronic forms (DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157) for my interview here and had no problem with them whatsoever.

    Good luck.

  5. What a roller coaster ride. After calling the embassy call center yesterday, a very nice lady pretty much made me feel that we were going to have to wait out a CENOMAR check. It had not been processed but was with the CO.

Then out of the blue with no warning from Delbros, the visa was delivered today (Oct 4). So 14 days for us...you can add that to the timeline.

    Finally.....I feel happy and exhausted.

Congratulations!:dance: I'm so happy for you. I'm glad you finally got it.

    Best regards,

    Audrey :)

  6. Congrats to you! We are still waiting and it looks like will have to reschedule her flight (this Sat). She is in Manila, so I'm not sure what the hold up is.

I am sure her visa will arrive soon. The embassy website says visas are usually released 7-10 days after issuance, and you are not over that timeframe yet. Wishing you the best of luck. (F)

  7. Ok now i read a post (can't find it now) about there being a plastic envelope AROUND the brown envelope and possibly another plactic envelope around that and the passport. Christ, can they make it any more confusing? I don't want my wife to open anything at all now but she will need her passport. Someone please comment!

    Joel,

I had to open the second plastic cover inside the Delbros plastic, otherwise I couldn't get my passport. The sealed envelope for US immigration is slit diagonally on one side which I assume is how it should be.

  8. Yayy!!! Congratulations. What are your plans now?

Analyn is on her way to her relative's house because Delbros texted her that they will deliver today, two days after her interview. I only hope she had already left her authorization form. Analyn wants to stay in Manila to see her Aunt who is going to Manila for an operation. The plan is for her to leave Monday.

Wow...only two days after your interview. Congratulations to you too. I have a flight booked on China Airlines to LAX via Taipei for end of October. I still need to fix some things in Manila before I go. Good luck to you and Analyn.

  9. I dont guess anyone noticed my previous post asking for some insight into the "APPROVAL" status after the interview.

    This is my question!

How can you know for certain if you are approved after your interview?

After my interview with the consul, I asked him if I am approved and he said yes and just to wait for your number to be called and the visa will be issued shortly. I saw him put an approved sticker on my folder. At the releasing section, I again saw the sticker there on my folder. It said "Approved K Visa."

From what I read in your post, I would believe you are approved.

  10. Greeting from Titakey!

Leonardo had his interview on Fri -Sept 22.

Everything seemed to go well. The usual questions, etc.

But they are requiring additional documents from the NBI to verify that

    there is no criminal record.

    Hello Titakey!

I am sure Leonardo will get his visa as soon as he submits his NBI documents. The best of luck to you.

    Audrey :)
