My fiance has his medical appointment tomorrow in London! Thank you to those who've posted what they medical appt. is like. I've told him what you said, and he doesn't seem quite so freaked out

Then on March 7th he has his visa interview. I'm really hoping both appts. go very smoothly for him. He's planning to leave as soon as he has his visa in hand. He needs to as our wedding is set for April 1st! Yikes!

I'm sorry you haven't had your interview yet. You've been waiting for quite awhile haven't you?

My fiance has his interview on March 7th. He just got the letter last week. Thank goodness it's before our wedding

He's hoping to get his visa within the next day, and then he's planning to book his flight instantly and come over. I can't wait for that.

There's just so much to think about. It doesn't end when he gets here (all the paperwork and everything), but at least we'll be doing all of that together instead of apart.

It took Nebraska about 45 days to process our K-1. It was submitted at the end of August and approved mid October. Remember to check back at the status of where they're at with processing. That was somewhat helpful for us.

Thanks! I think he'll be fine. He has a clean criminal record (has the proper paperwork to bring with for that), we have plenty of evidence to support our relationship.

Another question I have is something that Gladdy mentioned...what was that about a payment receipt? Who does he pay his fee (admin charges) to? Is it done somewhere before the interview? Yikes! I'm not sure I've heard about that unless it came to him with his paperwork regarding the interview.

Having just discovered this board last night and haven't had much support through this process (it's been since July/August), I have a few questions...

My fiance has his interview in London on March 7th. We have all the appropriate documents ready for him to take with, and we've had a lawyer through the entire process so we know it's being done correctly.

What are some possible reasons why a person WOULDN'T be approved for their visa at the interview? Is it true that typically once you've made it to that point it'll be approved?

We're very tight on time with having our wedding on April 1st. We can't afford for anything to be wrong.

I've read that it sounds pretty quick and painless once you're actually in there (aside from the wait time). I hope that's true as I know my fiance will be very anxious.

I can't believe I haven't known about this website as I've been going through the K-1 visa process. I sure could've used the support through some of those frustrating and stressful times!

My name is Alicia, and I'm from the U.S. My fiance, Oliver (Olly) is from England. We met in March 04 in Cancun, Mexico while vacationing with friends. We were staying at the same hotel and met on the first day. We had a great time together that week. At the end of the week we exchanged e-mail addresses with the hopes of staying in touch. I never thought we'd see each other again with 4000 miles separating us.

5 months later (August 04) my friend and I flew to London, England. Olly came up to London for a few days. That's when I knew we'd be friends forever. Actually, I knew in those few days that I loved him and thought of him as my best friend.

We talked on the phone almost everyday for 5 more long and torturous months until he came over to the US in January 05. We had a wonderful time together and decided that we wanted to be together forever.

In March 05 (one year after we met) I went back to England to visit him. We took a ferry to France, and that's where he proposed. That's when we started looking into the immigration process (having no idea how involved it would turn out to be).

June 14, 05-Sept. 14. 05 I moved over to England. That's the nice thing about teaching and having the summer off! Then I went back over for a month over Christmas. We haven't seen each other for over a month now, but his interview is scehduled for March 7th He wants to be here for his birthday on March 11th.

Our wedding date is April 1st. It has been stressful lately up until we got the letter with the interview date. We weren't sure if he'd be here for our wedding. Our lawyer initially assured us he'd be able to come in January, and then things slowed down significantly when our paperwork reached the embassy in London. We thought we were safe with April 1st! There's no way we could've canceled the wedding (our prayers have paid off) as it's a very traditional wedding with lots of guests.

I can't wait until we are married and settled into our own life together. That will be one fantastic day!

I recently discovered this website tonight (about 10 minutes ago) and immediately became a member. I sure could've used this board for about the last 6 months!

My fiance is from England, and he finally has his interview at the embassy on March 7th. This has been a long process (way too long). Our wedding date is set for April 1st

The process went fairly quickly (according to their timelines) until our paperwork was sent to the US Embassy in London. They are soooo slllooowww...

It's impossible to get in touch with anyone at the Embassy. We had some e-mail address that gave us almost no information. We were starting to come up with a plan B for getting him here by April 1st, but finally got the letter about the interview last week.

My heart goes out to anyone going through this! It really stinks. It's nice to know I'm not the only one going through this. It's slightly more common than I thought.
