  1. though my parents have not yet reached at interview stage but i guess there would be very simple questions and usually no hard time for parents. They should answer truthfully and best to their knowledge. The answers should be very brief and to the point.

Since you are a long way from interview stage you may post this when that stage comes and many from your country would have the experience of their parents interviews and they might share it with you so dont worry.

  2. your unemployment wont be a problem as long as your wife meets the financial support I 864) requirements and even if she does not you can find a joint sponsor.

Non immigrant visa denials will not affect immigrant visa as both have different qualifications.

You can do all the paperwork for your parents. They need to fill only one form ie DS 260, on line, which you can do on their behalf.

Attorney is not required as it is very simple case. Just read the instructions from USCIS and follow them. this forum is also a great help.

  3. When I petitioned for my husband 5 years ago we didn't need to use the NOA 1 or 2 for anything. It was just a notice telling us what was happening with our case. I filed from inside the USA so i did receive the papers in the mail. I don't know what happens if you live in another country.

I would suggest that if you don't find the answer you are looking for on visa journey that you call USCIS or NVC and ask them your questions. NVC is slow these days and it may take awhile for NVC to receive your case and get in touch with you.

It is still same. Hard copies are not required any where. If someone wants to keep it for record email is enough.

  4. document handling is a total mess at NVC. I also received similar checklist, in my father's case, though all the documents were submitted alongwith the covering letter provided by NVC and after 72 days this checklist was received. In my mother's case they took 65 days and sent a checklist that W2 of joint sponsor for year 2013 were missing although those were sent with I 864. We sent those again and after 75 days another checklist that W2 of petitioner were missing. its so annoying but this is how they handle the cases and not accountable to anyone. contacting them over phone or email is also next to impossible. Its better to send them again or it would add further delay.

  5. my parents case is at NVC for the last 5 months. I had sent all the documents ( financial as well as other supporting documents alongwith the cover sheet and bar coded sheet provided by NVC ) These were received by NVC and confirmed by them on 15 January 2015. But now I have received checklist in my fathers case that they reviewed the documents and some information or documents were missing. They have instructed to provide following documents:

    Passport copies

    Applicants birth certificate

    marriage certificate

    petitioners birth certificate.

All these documents were sent to NVC alongwith I 864. I have been trying to contact NVC via telephone and email but failed so far as each time when I call there is recorded message that the call cannot be connected as they are too busy so try some other time. Same is with email. it is returned back to my inbox with 'delivery failure' notification. Now I am confused whether to wait and keep calling ( which I am doing for last 5 days and failed so far) or send the documents again which will of course again trigger the routine 60 days period when they receive these documents.

    Please advise.

  6. NVC communication is all by email. Call them and make sure they have correct email addresses on file for both petitioner and beneficiary. The Case Complete and Interview Letter we received from NVC were all by email and were sent to all email addresses we had put on their file.

I received wellcome letter from NVC through e mail as well as hard copy through regular postal mail ( though very late)
