  1. Hey guys;

:help::help: A co-worker of mine went for his citizenship interview in Charlotte this am and although the interviewer told him he passed the interview, he was given a letter to wait 6 months to a year for them to make a final decision about his citizenship. He had his biometrics done in April of 2007 and they went ahead and scheduled the interview. If there was something wrong, wouldn't it have been know from the biometrics?

When he asked for the reason, she told him she she could not discuss that with him. It is his case, why not?:angry:

They also told him he would be able to travel to the Phillilines on his current LPR status. Is this advisable?:huh:

Does anyone know what this could possible mean?

Did he get a paper like this?

If yes, then no worries....they give this paper away to everyone who don't have oath ceremony right after their interview....

I just had my interview on Jan 10th., passed it and got ther same paper. I will have my oath ceremony ina bout 2-3 months. Some Distric Offices have ceremonies same day, some 2 or 3 times a year.

About traveling on LPR....he is not official US Citizen before he gets paper after oath ceremony. So he can travel using his green card which he got with LPR status.

  2. They are my life and joy...even on crazy days like today LOL. Your munckin has such an angel face....I notice picture every time

Thank you  And he is my life and joy too althoughj yes, it can be hard at times...esp with no family nearby

Tell me about it...no family nearby...

    How old is he? Mine are 3 1/2 and 2 1/2 :)

He just turned 22 months on jan, 8th...we were in Italy for 3 months (we got back dec 9th), it was nice to be able to have showers or go take care of errands or just sit on the couch doing absolutely nothing etc. whenever I wanted to...there was always plenty of people fighting for their chance to babysit!!

I had forgotten the feeling...

Oh yeah...I would love that too....I hope this year we will be able to go home...for longer then just a week.

If you don't mind me asking where from Italy are you?

  4. Here we go...it took me a little bit longer. I uploaded three scans to my VJ album at: http://www.visajourney.com/gallery/index.php?cat=10002

"N-652, Naturalization Interview Results" document which you get after your interview

    and

"N-659, Naturalization Interview Document Check List", a paper which I got together with interview appointment letter.

If you have problems to see images let me know!

Thank you so much! I could read everything just fine!

BTW...that list is the exact same one that they have at the end of their citizenship guide, I sent all those things along with my N400 application already... Do I have to gather them together again??

    Your welcome :)

I took originals with me...I sent them only copies and that it. But they never asked me to show anything....

Thanks again! I will do the same. Whenever the heck they'll set an interview for poor me lost in their july backlog... I won't complain though since I was one of the lucky ones who could still pay the old fees

I will cross my fingers so you will get your interview letter soon!

I wouldn't even file just yet if it wouldn't be to save some $$.

    Thank you!

Well I still had to file ASAeligible because of my hubby's job, it is one of those requirements between the lines that his spouse is a USC...My 90 days mark fell right on the last good day to mail out stuff before the new fees at the end of july, I couldn't believe it! then some on here scared me by saying they knew of poeple who had their applications rejected because they were sent right on the 90th day mark...it didn't make too much sense to me, I don't see what ground they could possibly use to enforce something like that since it's stated in their guidelines (any lawyer could overthrow that I think)...but anyways...turns out my application was NOT returned afterall...it's just stuck in Baltimore right now LOL

I've been meaning to tell you...your kids are absolutely adorable!

Thank you :) They are my life and joy...even on crazy days like today LOL. Your munckin has such an angel face....I notice picture every time :)

  7. What was your answer to the question re: time spent outside the U.S. last 5 years when I've only been here since 2004. Since coming here, I haven't travelled outside the U.S. at all. Prior to my coming here though in July 2004 I went to Hong Kong and China. Any suggestions?

    questions:

    1. How many total days did you spend outside of the U.S. during the past five years?

    2. How many trips of 24 hours or more have you taken outside of the U.S. during the past five years?

    Thanks so much!!

    Ives

At the time when I was filling N-400 I was not in US for 5 years either. If you didn't travel outside USA then put down NONE.

  8. Congrats Lexa! :) Looks like someone gets to vote in November....

Its kind of funny, but I'm really looking forward :)

Hey congrats again! Actually I am really looking forward to it as well, although I am not definitely sure I will actually be able to (see timeline)....

I have a question if you don't mind...what did you have to bring to the interview? I am about to go look and see if I can find this info somewhere else as well, but for some reason all the posts I found in this citizenship questions so far never reported that. I am just trying to make sure there isn't anything crazy I need to have then, so I am already prepared when they call me for my turn...not that it necessarily means that will be soon anyway`

Did you send anything with your application? I did...hubbys birth certificate, kids bc (all copies), last 3 year taxes, house and care insurance where you can see both names and some other stuff. With interview invitation I also got a paper as a list what documents you need to bring. Right now I can't remeber what type of paper was it, but I will look at it later when I put kids to bed for nap and I can even scan it.

I took all what they asked for with me, but lady there never asked me for anything additional, never asked me to show originals....we just went through papers which I sent with n-400 application.

  9. Getting nervous..

It has been over 5 months since the day I filed.. And almost 3 months since I had my fingerprinting done.

I am sorry..but I just feel very lost and I wish we can all find out how far along our files are. I was hoping to travel outside the country in March, but I don't think its going to happen :(

    Anyone feeling the same?

    Hi Tena,

I usually just read posts and don't post myself, but I wanted to let you know that my wife (who had an N-400 receipt date of July 20) just got her interview letter from the NSC. Her interview is set for Feb. 21, at our local office in Chicago. Our timeline is very similar to yours (fingerprints in September), so hopefully your interview letter is coming soon!

I hope everyone get their interview letter soon. It took me 6 months and 2 weeks to get N-400 through. Still waiting for oath ceremony.

  10. Your spouse doesn't need to be there at the time of the interview, they will not let them in room with you anyway.

Last Thursday when I was in Kansas City waiting for my interview there was a couple sitting and waitning to be called in....and when her turn came up, they both wanted to go in. Officer asked her husband if he is her lawyer and of course he said no. Officer then asked him to sit and wait in waiting room that he has no need for him to be present at the interview.

But of course interviewers ask where your spouses are, they asked me and she was more then happy when I told her that my housband is at home with kids.

  11. For all June 2007 N-400 filers here is my timeline...I had my interview yesterday which I passed successfully.

    06/27/2007 - Sent N-400 to NSC

07/03/2007 - NSC cashed the check

  12. No worries about *. When you use USCIS Case Status Search web page: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/caseStatusSearchDisplay.do just put in whole number, together with asterix.

Even web page says you need to use it:

To view the status of a case, please enter the corresponding application receipt number. The 13-character application receipt number can be found on application notices you have received from the USCIS. It begins with three letters such as (EAC, WAC, LIN, or SRC). Dashes ("-") should be omitted when entering a receipt number. However, all other characters, including asterisks ("*"), can be included if listed on your notice as part of the receipt number. See the FAQs for additional information on this system.

I put mine is as LIN*xxxxxxxxx . If you don't use * you will get error message that your case can't be found.

  13. Congrats on the successful interview.

I am waiting to get my interview date, and am very nervous about the test. I only had the right answer to 3 of your questions!!!!! I'm DOOMED!!!!!!

I hate tests!!! I guess I'll have to do a whole lot of studying before I go!!!!

Hope you hear about your oath ceremony soon!!!

You know what I did? I printed out flash cards and used them to learn all the answers. Ones I knew real good I put away and used others I didn't know over and over again......just take your time...go over questions once a day, it takes a little time and I'm sure you will know all the answers before your interview date :)

  14. Congratulations

    Do you remember the questions?

They have preprinted paper with a name of applicant and 10 questions on it. My first six questions was:

    3. How many stripes are there on our flag?

    4. Who is the President of the United States toda?

    5. Who becomes President if both the President and Vice President die?

    6. Who was Martin Luther King Jr.?

    And my timeline:
