  1. You can certainly prepare the I-134 and get the tax records from the co-sponsor. I met the income requirements, but had a co-sponsor as a back up. When my wife went to the interview in GZ last year, there was a woman at the window who took all of the documents she prepared. After reviewing them she told my wife that they don't need the co-sponsors financial forms, and to proceed into the Embassy. Apparently she was a local who had been hired to intake the documents and was peeved by the amount of paperwork she had to sift through.

So, yes you can get it but they may not look that carefully. By the time of the interview they pretty much know everything you have submitted to them. It is a quick 5 minute interview with 2+ hours of waiting.

  2. If the interview goes well, and the consular official takes the passport, you should get it in about 5-7 business days. You need to select a place for the passport and documents to be shipped too. I would suggest the Citic bank across the street from the embassy (next to the 7/11).

So if the interview is on a Monday, and you like taking educated chances, you could consider booking your flight for the following Wednesday.

  3. I would just send a couple pictures, and any receipts that would support you have met int he last two years (matching plane, train, bus tickets, etc). I do not think someone will take the time to play a video of you two, but if you can take some stills from the video and print them that would be great.

In regards to the amount of time it takes, it could a while to hear back. We filed in September 2014, had zero RFE's, and were able to schedule the interview by early May 2015. The interview was in June and we entered July 1st. I did not wait for the embassy to send us Packet 4 (an e-mail that says you can schedule your interview now), I just went ahead and did it after we received Packet 3 in the mail. This saved weeks of time.

Make sure your fiancee has her background check and birth certificate ready. Get extra copies. I believe the background check can be no older than six months old. They need to be translated and notarized.

Once you apply for the K-1, she shouldn't get any other US visa in the interim. Just wait. You may want to plan on going to GUZ with her to help her along with the medical, be there for her, etc.

  4. My wife had her interview last June 2015. At the time they said one to two weeks. Then there was the hacking scandal and all the US embassies across the world halted issuing immigrant visa's until they resolved the tech issue. It ended up taking 4 weeks. I racked up a bunch of points at the hotel, got foot massages, sweat about 5 lbs of of toxins out in the Guangzhou heat, walked an enormous amount, and swam in the hotel pool. Now we are in the USA, I am working and thinking about life their compared to here. Don't rush out, I sometimes wish we were still their.
