    All,

I am sharing my experience and wonder if someone had a similar experience before. Today I am shocked to learn from the state senator that USCIS sent us an RFE 3 months ago which we have never received. Since we learnt that our case was outside the normal processing time frame, we began calling USCIS (at least talking with 5 tier-2 agents) and even made a trip to the field office. However, NOBODY told us that we have an RFE. The USCIS online status is still at the stage of received the case. This is ridiculous! If we haven't contacted the state senator's office, we would have never known the actual reason of the delay. By the way, we haven't moved since we filed the I-751 and have no problem receiving notice for fingerprint appointment.

We're now waiting for the tier 2 officer to call back and wonder what the RFE is :-(

    Anyone has similar experience?

Hi this is my mom experience.

My mom had many problems with the mail, starting that I never got NOA, she had to make an appointment infopass for the  i551 stamp in the passport (JULY 30 2015), then in February 2016 they had sent RFE, she never got the RFE. She to call to talk to second level officers, To forward the request for evidence, my mother had to go for a second i551 stamp in the passport, on July 6, 2017, and the officer who assisted her advised her to open  a po box, and there were no more problems with the mail, the notice of action that received the request for evidence arrived at the po box, then the notice of  approval of the residence card, and finally arrived at the po box the residence card for 10 years.  My mom's process took 21 months.

I forgot, she contacted the senator, she never got an answer from anything.

    Hi everyone,

I am back to say thank you to everyone in this forum for the many years of advice, my husband was sworn in as a citizen today.  Despite having many red flags(I am 20 years older and divorced with 2 adult children, I'm Catholic and he's Muslim and we come from 2 totally different cultures), our journey from beginning to end was easy and we did it all on our own with some advice from the wise members of this site. Never at any point did we receive a RFE or grief from anyone at USCIS, the NVC, the Amman consulate or the local USCIS office here in New Hampshire. He had one interview in Amman for his visa in, he wasn't called for an interview during removing of conditions and his Naturalization test was easy and quick.

It's hard to believe that after all this time my husband's immigration journey is over, it seems surreal. Although I'm not as experienced as many others in this forum but if anyone needs advice please feel free to inbox me, I check in from time to time. I'll do my best to help if I can.

Once again, thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

    Cathi

    Congrats !!!

Salamat, Mahalo, thank you! The ceremony today was by far the most relaxed and jovial part of this whole process! Very low key and relaxed. The ceremony was short--only 45 minutes--I thought three hours!...and plenty of time for photos. I know that Joan was moved during the Pledge of Allegiance and the Star Spangled Banner. Those two never sounded so beautiful to me even as I struggled to somehow stand, hold my heart and take phone video. In short, welcome home my love. This is truly your home now and I love you. Salalmat po!

Now on to passport, SSN...well...you know!

Just sharing my journey and interview process!

My wife and I got married in February and filed in April of 2016. It was a grueling process for us, our initial co-sponsor didn't work out (which wasted many months of time) and we had to scramble to find a new one. We luckily did... our EAD/AP was approved on December 3rd of 2016 (FINALLY... this was the most frustrating part... waiting so many months where my wife was unable to work or leave the country, especially since she had been back in the states since December of 2015) and our interview happened today!

We filed with an immigration lawyer who helped us fill out the applications. I highly recommend this route... it saved us a lot of time and stress knowing we were doing everything right and providing all of the right documents.

Our interview was in Los Angeles, CA at 8:15am. We arrived a half hour early and waited less than 10 minutes after checking in before being called into the interview room. We had been stressing about what documents and proof of evidence to bring with us, but to be honest with you, the immigration officer barely looked any of it. He was more interested in our story.

We took an oath, then he asked us names, passports, ID's. Then (which I don't even feel this was okay or even legal to do), he asked me about my relationship history and sexual orientation. We are a gay couple. He asked me how many boyfriends I had, then girlfriends, then made a statement of "You must be bisexual then." Blergh. He did the same to my wife. Asked if we knew we were gay before meeting and stuff like that. I don't feel like it's appropriate... you wouldn't ask a straight couple the same questions. But whatever, I'm grateful he focused on that and not on my taxes hahaha.

He then asked about our history, moving in together, asked if we had our house keys on us, then asked us both to show him the key to the front door. Also asked very briefly about our co-sponsor, if he was a US citizen and where he lived.

He didn't ask anything about my work, taxes, income, what we did for a living... didn't look at a single photo or receipts. We had documents showing our apartment lease, joint credit card, and joint cell-phone plan, which he looked at very quickly. That was about it.

And then we were approved on the spot! I guess it's just a luck of a draw with immigration officers!

My suggestion to other couples... be patient! Be there for one another. It's tough on everyone, but you will get through it. Make sure you are filing things properly to save a lot of time and stress! One little mistake can cost you months and that can be very hard on everyone. It's good to over prepare for the interview! I honestly think printing conversations is overkill (we didn't) but bring whatever you need to make you feel secure about the interview.

And finally, it's not as bad as people make it out to be. Don't listen to the horror stories! If your relationship is legit, you've lived together and are an actual couple doing "couple" things (like travelling together, meeting family, etc). you have nothing to worry about.

    Woot!

    Congrats !!!

  6. I would like to take this short, brief time to thank everyone on Visa Journey through me and my wife's journey. We started the I-129F back in November of 2012. Today, finally , 10/21/2016, we have been notified that my wife's 10 year green card is in production.

Now if not for a few of the VJ'ers out there, we would still be sitting and waiting. Has been almost 8 months since they received our I-751 and someone suggested to contact USCIS seeing it was beyond the 6 month waiting time for CSC.

I did this and they said they would take the info to a Tier 1 officer. Guess what, the next day My Case Status was updated, on 10/21/16, saying my card is being produced. If not for the recommendation to contact USCIS, we would of probably still be waiting months before I would of done this. Thank you to that person, sorry cant remember their User Name.

Anyways from 12/20/2013 when we got married, and on 5/20/2014 she got her green card, and today, 10/21/2016 her card has been approved. I have lived watching Visa Journey for years now, and from the bottom of my heart want to thank all for the questions and for the responses, and for the answers everyone has been able to receive on this site.

Please, good luck to all. From receipt of our I-751 on 3/7/2016 till today, 10/21/2016 just a little under 8 months, so even though our journey and your journey seems to take forever, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck to all.

But, I probably will continue to utilize VJ because in a few months our final and last step will be the N-400, but, this will be much simpler, no documentation, no cohabitation, no joint this, no joint that. My wife speaks fluent english, reads english and writes english so her final journey to citizenship, I believe, will be much, much easier than the I-751 process.

    Thank you again

    rjgacek

    Congrats !!!

  8. Hey guys -

Finally got a response to RFE on Saturday 6/11/16, It says "congratulations! your request for removal of the conditional basis of your permanent resident status has been approved."

It goes on more but basically is saying the new card will be here within 60 days.

Anyone got it before 60 days? My license is expired already so I'm a bit nervous driving around without it being extended, I don't think DMV will extend based on this letter.

SO happy and relieved! One less thing to stress about @6.5 months pregnant!

Good luck to everyone!!! I will start looking into citizenship soon. I think my initial gc arrived in July 2013, so I'm not sure if I'm eligible to apply yet or not.

    Congrats !!!
