  1. My file is now in transit- woo hoo! It looks like the State dept updates the tracker in the evening. At least it did today for all the JAK cases I checked earlier.

Yep mine too. Awesome. btw, I tried that trick you talked about earlier. The last three digits of my case number are 001, and 002 doesn't exist. I think I'm the only immigrant petition for Sweden so far this year.

  2. Just to clarify, I never meant to imply that it being past the expiry date was your fault.

I've read elsewhere on VJ that NVC cannot extend the date themselves but as others have said, the embassy will do it for you.

Hi Pheebs, I'm just curious since my case is at the NVC right now and my NOA2 expires tomorrow, where did you read about people's cases being sent back to USCIS for expired NOA2s?

  3. hey usmsbow, I think I have some good news for the two of us. I learned from my backdoor USCIS contact that any I129F cases which were "sent" from the CSC in the second half of December didn't actually leave the building until the 5th of January. It usually takes 2 to 3 weeks to get to the NVC after that. Hope that helps explain the situation for the two of us. He also was insistant that the cases would not be rejected by the NVC due to the I797 being expired.

  4. LOL. I don't believe that. No one on this board has had to wait that long for it to be entered.

I also am skeptical our cases were sent out on December 15th, especially when I got a service reply later that said they'd be sending my file "soon". Nice contradiction CSC. Besides contacting the omsbudsman, I emailed SCOPSSCATA@dhs.gov, which oversees the USCIS service centers. Supposedly they should respond within 10 days...

My case was also finally sent out on December 17th after retrieval from NRC. The congressional liaision office at the CSC actually called my congressional case worker on December 15th and said it would be shipped in 1 to 3 days and to allow two to three weeks for delivery. I got the exact ship day of December 17th because I work for DHS and so I have a USCIS liaision officer who i have a direct line with. (unfortuneately I only found out about this contact a couple weeks ago, otherwise I could have saved a lot of waiting on hold). If you add three federal holidays into the mix, three weeks adds up to this coming monday, so Im very hopeful we all get good news soon. as for the 42 days, that only applies to visas processed at the NVC. K1 visas dont get processed there. they only receive a case number and then are sent to the overseas embasssy/consulate to finish processing. Hope this helps.

personally, I'm in a sticky spot right now bacause my NOA2 expires Jan 16th. If it gets to the NVC before that I'm alright, after that and I think it gets sent back to the CSC for reapproval. Which, considering they use a three legged tortoise to mail files back and forth, will extend my timeline by another few months, assuming they dont screw up again. Although on the expiration stuff i haven't gotten a firm answer on that yet, just rumors from this website. My congressional case wroker is going to look into that issue tomorrow.

  5. Just found out that I'm now in the same boat. Approved Sept 17th, and it is now Jan 3 2015. The NVC never got my papers, and after many emails and calls, the NVC contacted the USCIS and was told my papers are at the National Records Center. I recived that email today. Maybe things have changed since 2009 (the last post i see on this forum).

My case was also approved September 17th and sent to the National Records Center. I talked to a tier 2 USCIS agent at their call center in November who put in an expedite request and got it retrieved and forwarded. That took three weeks. I got my congressperson involved too. I found out from my congressperson's office that it was finally sent to the NVC on December 17th. Now im hoping it gets there before the approval expires on January 16th.

My case was approved at the California Service Center.

  6. I believe it is sent back to USCIS for the date to be extended. If it reaches the embassy prior to the date however, the embassy can extend it for up to a year. Someone else may be able to provide a more definite answer however. Good luck!

Does it have to be the embassy? Or can the NVC make an extension before it's sent overseas (assuming they get it before it expires). The call center both at the USCIS and NVC say the expiration date doesn't matter, but i keep seeing contradictory information on this website. Thanks!

  7. Hi all, my case was approved at the CSC on sep 17th. After a couple of months and no case number I found iut from a tier 2 cis agent that my case had not yet been sent from the csc. She put an expedite request in. Like many of you experienced, my case had to be recalled from the nrc. It was finally recieved and forwarded to the nvc on december 17th. Nvc says it takes 35 days to arrive. Well my approval expires on jan 16th which is 5 days before the expected 35 days. Will my case be sent back to uscis because its expired? The nvc call center says it wont, but I saw at least one posting on this website from a year ago where it was in the same situation. Has anyone heard anything official on this idea of an approval expiring prior to arrival at nvc?
