  1. I’m planning to travel to South Asia and I received a stamp in my passport 2 months ago which is valid for a year. Also my actual green card is about to arrive soon. Can I just travel with my passport with the stamp since it’s more convenient to watch only one important document? Or by receiving the actual card I’m obliged to take that too? Thank you guys.

Hi, schedule an info pass appointment so you can get a stamp in your passport. The stamp is enough proof of your residency.

“This office is not accepting walk-in requests or scheduling InfoPass appointments.

There are still ways to get basic information about immigration services and ask questions about your case online without an office visit or a phone call. If you have a question about a pending application”

  3. Hey guys,

I’m not sure if this is the right topic but I need some advice. I have a pending i751 case and my extension letter has expired. I responded to an RFE but I have not received a response in 6 months now. My ID is about to expire as well and according to our local office they don’t accept walk in appointments nor do they schedule one. How do I justify myself at this point or renew government issued documents?

Thank you guys and wish me luck lol.

Check the one on your extension letter, that’s the receipt number that’s updating office transfers! :)

I already did, and says validation error. If you look at the letter, it says "upon receipt of your ASC appointment notice... you can find your application number at the top of the ASC appointment notice"

It also claims you need to look for CRI89 not i751. You guys are looking at the wrong receipt number.

  5. Hey guys, quick question.

Does anyone use the Case tracker mobile app? It has a search bar for your receipt number and another bar named (count) which lets you put in a random number up to 500. The higher the count is the more receipt numbers I'm seeing in an increasing order.  Each i751 applicant has only one receipt number right? Because one of the results shows "case was received at my local office" but the last digit is different from my actual receipt number on my NOA. Under my receipt number it shows validation error. Am I guessing right that is someone else's receipt number and that the message applies to someone else?  Thank you.

  6. Hey guys,

I am going to file the i751 soon with my wife however I have a couple of concerns. For some unforeseen reasons we have not been able to file it yet and there is a possibility that my Conditional Green Card will expire before I receive the response from USCIS for the extension of my GC as it usually takes 2-3 weeks after filing. What happens to my job in such a case? Do I have to notify my employer? Or should they do that? My GC expires at the end of May. Am I going to be illegal and unauthorized to work between the expiration of the GC and the extension of GC? I work in a big technology retail store. Can I get into trouble if nobody says anything and I continue to work in the gap of the expiration of my GC and the start of the extended 1 year GC? Can they fire me? I am also reluctant to say anything because what if otherwise nothing would happen. Thank you guys!

  7. Hello guys,

I live in NYC and received my green card through my wife in the summer. I didn't really start looking for a job for a while because I had part time English tutoring jobs for my countrymen, but it doesn't really work on the long term. Also, I am not satisfied with my English ( especially with my accent) even though it was my major in Europe where I acquired my bachelors. Obviously it's a harder task if you don't share the same language with your students. So I am not sure I can be competitive at English teaching in a country where it's spoken by almost everyone.

Right now I am getting desperate a bit because I honestly don't know what to work. They ask for certificates, years of experience, etc. I also have a permanent disability, I can only use one of my arms which drastically limits what kind of jobs I can take. On the long term, I have my plans, taking a graduate program but I still have to work meanwhile or until being enrolled. Do you guys have any idea where I should look for jobs or what type I would be eligible for? Or who should I turn to? Are there any agencies that help in job placement? Fortunately we aren't in hardship and have enough saved money to invest in my studies and my wife has a decent job but I must start working something, if I don't want to go crazy. I was thinking about some short-term training that could provide me a job and match my qualities and abilities so that I shouldn't be worried about staying absolutely jobless. I would appreciate any pieces of advice. Thanks guys.

  8. Hey guys.

Yesterday while walking on the streets, I was stopped by a policeman. I had a black bag with a beer in it, and he asked me if there's an open drink in it. I said yes because I did open it before but later I decided not to drink from it. He took my ID. I wasn't even drinking, it was just such an unfortunate situation. Finally I didn't get charged, no fine, nothing, he just gave back my ID after several minutes. I was allowed to leave and didn't get anything to sign, etc. He told me to throw the bottle away. Is it something that I should mention at the interview?

  9. Is it allowed to go to the interview without a spouse?? I thought that was equal with a failure. You don't really have to prepare in my opinion. All they test is the authenticity of the marriage. If it really is, there's nothing to worry about. Just have enough evidence, know what you are supposed to know (your wedding date, spouse's DOB, etc) and tell the truth.
