  1. Today we got an email from USCIS stating,

"There has been a recent processing action taken on your case.
    Receipt Number: XXXXXXXXXXXXX
Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS
Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production
On April 16, 2016, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number XXXXXXXXXXXXX, and will mail it to the address you gave us. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."

We haven't heard anything about our case since last month, when we sent an inquiry as to what was taking so long, as my husband had his Biometrics back in September! Does this mean we don't have to go to an interview or anything?! I mean, does it mean his green card has been approved?! And that it's on its way?! I'm sorry if this is OBVIOUS to some but I'm almost in shock because we have been waiting, so, so long for this!!!!

  2. FYI, There is a tax treaty between the US and Netherlands, so they will have access to most financial info in both directions. He will still have to file in Holland (and if he doesn't, he should still run the program) There is a good change he'll get money back from the dutch government.

I was unaware of the treaty. He was still planning to file in Holland, as well, since he worked from January-April 2015 before moving to the States in May. He received his EAD in November but did not begin working in the States until January of this year. I'm just wondering if we need to claim his income from the Netherlands when we do our taxes here in the States, even though he had no income from May-December.

  3. My husband worked in The Netherlands until April 2015, he moved to the U.S. on his K-1 in May, and we were married in July. I'm wondering how this will factor in to our taxes?

Here are some other points to consider:

He has a bank account in The Netherlands (less than $10,000)
He did not work in the U.S. during 2015. (He received his EAD in November.)
He has a Social Security Number.

Are there other points I need to consider? Does anyone have any advice for us as we prepare to file? What other things, if any, do we need other than my W-2's and my 1098 from school?

    Thanks in advance!

  4. Do you have an EAD card or Social Security Card? We're from Ohio and had one heck of a time trying to get my husband's State ID. The people at the BMV have no idea what they're doing. It got to the point where we were going to have to bring a lawyer down with us. If you have the EAD, Social Security card, and your Passport, that is literally all you need. We found this out 3 visits to the BMV and two phone calls to a lawyer later! Don't let them make you feel bad just because they have no clue how to deal with immigration paperwork.

  5. I'm really starting to get worried. My husband and I send his AOS on Aug. 25, 2015, got NOA 1 Sept. 2, and had biometrics Sept. 23rd. It has been nothing but dead silence since then.

I've called multiple times to check the status of our case, and was told that the National Benefits Center is processing the case now. Our local office is Cincinnati, and I can't imagine that they're terribly busy. It was absolutely vacant when we went for Biometrics. Maybe 5 people came in during the 2 hours we were waiting, listening to the workers gossip about each other. Blech.

My husband is hoping to go home in April for his fathers birthday (he's going during my finals week at uni, the goof ;P ) and I just want the trip to go well for him without having to worry about his AOS!

Does anyone have any tips on how to figure out where your case is at as far as processing goes? Our I-129F was literally approved in 21 days from our NOA 1 date, so...we aren't used to having to wait very long.

Maybe our good fortune is running out :(

  6. You send tEAD paperwork together with the I-485, category ©(9)

Thank you so, so much! I appreciate it very much. It's very obvious now, but I'm sure you can imagine the thoughts that arise as you're trying to make sure everything is perfect. Ha! Thank you again, so so much!

  7. My fiancee and I have finished his Adjustment of Status and EAD paperwork, and I'm very confused as to where we send the EAD paperwork. We are filing them at the same time, so would our category be ©(9) or (a)(6)? Are they both to be sent to the Chicago address? We live in Ohio and our I-129F was processed at CSC, if that helps. I've seen conflicting information as to where it's mailed to elsewhere on the internet.

  8. My fiance went for his visa interview at the U.S. Consulate in Amsterdam and came out APPROVED!:yes::wub:(F)

I am so incredibly happy right now and we could not have made it without all the help, advice, and support from you lovely folks here at VJ! THANK YOU to everyone that helped us along the way and GOOD LUCK to everyone that is currently waiting! It takes time but it will happen <3 Love to you all!

  9. A new form is not needed to change that. They can check intend and put that as the answer. The I-134 is typically filled out by only person though, not a couple together, but if your consulate accepts it that way, it should be fine.

You're right, it's only filled out by one person. I didn't mean to imply that they both put their information on ONE Form I-134, lol Just that they are both serving as co-sponsor. So just to clear it up, my parents each filled out Form I-134; that is, one form filled out by my mother, and one form filled out by my father. (We had some confusion about co-sponsoring and were told after contacting the Consulate that they would each need to fill one out.)

Thanks for the help! I'm glad they don't have to re-do their forms. The printer is running low on ink and we're snowed in here at the moment so we can't run out to get more! :help: Good old Ohio weather.

  10. I've completed Form I-134 for my foreign fiance, and my parents are co-sponsors since I'm a full time university student and only work part time. (Thank goodness the Amsterdam Consulate allows co-sponsors!) They each just gave me their completed Form I-134, and I'm wondering about what they put for #11.

For #11 on my form, I put "N/A (K1 Visa Process for Permanent Resident), as that's what I read to put in another form- (link below) :
    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/439071-i-134-how-to-fill-out-form-for-petitioner-of-insufficient-income/

For #11 on my parents (co-sponsors) form, they put, "All expenses including but not limited to lodging, boarding, food, and incidental expenses until such time that he is able to begin supporting himself."

Should they make a new form to reflect what I put for #11?

  11. How long did it take you to received the packet 3 from the embassy, because without that I cant schedule the appointment for my fiancée, on the CEAC website my case status says "ready"

That's where my fiance and I are at, too! CEAC says case status is "ready". My fiance (beneficiary) will have to go through the U.S. Consulate in Amsterdam, and we have some friends that have already received Packet 3...they got it two days after it arrived at the consulate. I guess we'll just have to hurry up and wait...ugh... :ranting:

  12. Good news! I took the advice of everyone above and called later in the day (well...as opposed to calling right when the NVC opened  ) It only took calling 53 times in a row, but we finally got to speak to someone!

Our case is currently at the NVC, we received our Case # and Invoice ID # (she said we would need it for the DS-160 later)

Case hasn't been sent to the Consulate in Amsterdam yet but she said to call back late next week because it could possibly have been sent by then!

    WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :dancing::dancing::dance::yes:

Should I have received something via mail or email from the NVC about this? She also said that they had just updated our file to show that we had been assigned a case #...

  13. I've been trying to get in touch with the NVC by phone this whole week, obviously to no avail. I've tried calling as soon as they open, and trying and trying and trying again to call back. I keep getting a busy signal, and on Wednesday at 9:00 am I got a machine telling me "The NVC is CLOSED."

I read on their website they're updating their phone system, so maybe this is the culprit? Has anyone else been able to get in touch with the NVC this week? If so, leave your tips for getting through below!

(Didn't post this in the NVC 1 month thread because we haven't been waiting longer than a month. I don't want to be in that boat, so we're trying to be proactive!)

  14. Got our NOA2 email on Dec. 30th, and the hardcopy on Jan. 5th! I was visiting the future hubby in the Netherlands at the time so it was so amazing to be together when the news came! We both cried of joy and happiness. Petition was approved in 21 days! Crazy...so thankful we were at CSC! Updated the time line and the signature.

For all the peeps at Texas, do. not. lose. hope. It will happen! It might take some time, I think they're processing June filers right now? But it will happen! Lean on each other during that time, the wait will be worth it in the end! Good luck to everyone and love to you all.

  15. Hey look at my fiancés embassy review. Although every embassy is different it will give you a brief idea of what questions they asked him.

Do you have a link to your fiances interview? I'm interested in reading that as well just to get a general idea.

  16. Once you receive your NOA1 in the mail it will include a case number. You can sign up on the USCIS case status page to receive further updates via text or email - RFE, NOA2, etc. Unfortunately you won't receive any digital notification with NOA1 since you didn't include the G-1145.

When I go to the USCIS site to create an account to receive those notifications, under "User Type" am I supposed to select Petitioner Filing for Relative or Petitioner Filing for Self? I'm not sure which one to choose since it's a K1 and he isn't technically my relative yet lol
