  1. Hello, yes you will need to wait about two-three months before they send you your interview date after your petition is approved, then after that you will have to wait a couple months for the interview date itself. You can speed things up by having your US citizen fiance contact her local senator.

    Thank you BRO

  2. I am sorry you're going through this. My fiance is Libyan and let me tell you it would be hard even for him, as a Libyan, to get a new police certificate at this time. Things are really bad over there right now. I would suggest having your husband connect with someone he knows from Libya, ask them the best place and how to get it. He probably will need to get in Tripoli. Also, when he goes to get it, he should be prepared to either wait a long time or have pay a fee to speed things up. This is the current situation over there unfortunately.

Thanks a lot just want to mention this to you that even though nobody wants this absolutely and after I emailed to the consul twice explaining him the situation he made second interview to my husband and was asking him specific questions regarding Libya and at the end the man who collects all documents (clerks) told my husband that he can't convince the consul and he needs to bring judicial certificate ( he explain that is for non residents) which I found out it's the same thing just different world, oh he told him get this paper, come back anytime and you'll get your visa. How can this happen when they clearly know the situation in Libya. Police HQ is getting bombed every day and if you mention that you need for US embassy the chances of getting arrested or killed are very high! The consul is sanding my husband to fricking death?!

  3. Unfortunately it's very normal for Tunis. E-mailing won't help, but asking your state senator to contact them will help.

Hello our case was sent to Tunis since 8 February I didn't get date for my interview yet we mailed them and called them but we didn't good answer is it normal to take that long time? How long it would take to get an e-mail ?
    Thank you

  4. Sorry also you need new letter of intent to marry dated recent and signed by you both.

You have to do before interview:

    DS160 online

You can pay it at the post office indicated after you finish the application, the instructions are there, or you can pay it at the embassy on the day of the interview

Medical appointment (has to go to doctor in Tunis stated on embassy webpage)

You have to bring to interview:

    I134F

    Birth certificate

    Police certificate

3 years tax returns or tax transcripts

    W2s

Letter of employment for US citizen with salary made (or whoever is the sponsor)

    Confirmation page of DS160

Records of ongoing relationship - chat records, phone call logs, photos

    Medical documents

    His passport

3 passport photos (they need to be new, not the same ones you used in the I129F)

We finally got our interview date by emailing the embassy since we never received any mail from them. I'm seeing on the timeline there may be some papers we need to file before the visa interview that would have been in the missing packet. I'm assuming not the same papers that need to be taken to the visa interview.
Any help on what those papers might be?

  6. He should not go the day before, but a few days before is fine. It has been a while but I believe he called, made the appointment, went in early, was there for a good part of the morning, then went back the next day or two to pick up the documents. He can go the same week - but don't cut it so close as to the day before.

Hi my question is regarding the visa medical exam ...

Can anyone share their experience on their or their spouse/fiancé experience with the medical exam in Tunis?

How long is it? can it be done in one day?
Do you get the results right away? How much time in advance does it need to be done?

My husbands interview is May 26, I was hoping he would be able to schedule it for that week or even the day before.

  7. No. You need to do your research of which countries he is able to do a transit visa for, which countries do not need a transit visa....specifically for his country. For example, my partner is from Libya and he absolutely couldn't go through Canada. Germany is very easy though and doesn't require a transit visa (for Libyans - so probably not for Tunisians either).

  8. It took about two months for me to receive any contact from the Tunis embassy, you'll need to be patient. But, at the two month mark, after my case was sent from NVC and I had still heard nothing, I contacted the NY senator and she looked into it, and then I magically received the initial contact from the embassy, so I am pretty sure it had something to do with it.

It isn't impossible to get somebody on the phone. You need to call, and ask the operator specifically to speak with the person who processes the type of visa you are applying for. You would want to call around 12-2pm Tunis time. But, they won't reply to your e-mails until they have picked up your case, so not worth the effort. After they start working on your case they are pretty responsive though.

  9. Thanks for the tip. Is the AOS case number the same as the receipt number?

You need your case number for AOS and proof of the emergency. They won't even try to help you if you don't have the case number. I'm currently desperately trying to get the case number but the answer is "it's not been 10 business days yet so I don't give a ###### about your emergency".

  10. I have been a dual immersion (Spanish) teacher for six years now -1st grade. For highest success, one parent should speak only one language to the child. If this is not possible, the next best thing is to have designated language times at home.

When both languages are spoken by both parents whenever, it can potentially cause drastic confusion for the child and devastating academic results (if enrolled in a dual immersion program). I know this from first hand experience as a teacher.

My suggestion is that your wife speaks Japanese only, you speak Spanish only, and your child will learn English in school and by living in America.

There are many schools with immersion programs in the U.S., just be careful it isn't a bilingual program. They're very different. Dual immersion is structured so the child becomes academically proficient in two languages.

Bilingual is structured to eventually transfer a child out of the native language into English.

When I have children, I plan to enroll them in an Arabic immersion program. My husband will speak Arabic to them, I will speak Spanish, and they will learn English at school. I'm confident that as a teacher I can teach them Spanish so that is why I choose Arabic immersion and not Spanish.

  11. This is not the right place to post this. Please Create a separate post for your question.

    Hello All,

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this!

We had our interview (Me and my husband) for immigrant visa this last thursday (Aug 13). The lady told us that our case was approved by the consular and she gave us a paper that says congratulations and wish you a happy life at America. Also she told us that we will receive our passport within 7 days. After about 5 days we received our passports from aramex with no visas stamped and there was a white paper that requested a general information about me (and we submitted all the information via email as the paper indicated) and a yellow one with a X mark on administrative processing.

What I want you to help me with is: is it normal to approve our case and then returned our passport with no visa and as I know if they want to put us under AP they should keep our passports until the AP is complete, is that right?

I wish that you can help with this!

Make an info pass appointment and see what can be done. You can only get the emergency Ap provided you have already applied for your AoS.be prepared with evidence.

    Thanks

  12. Hi - has anyone ever expedited AP under the USCIS reasons for expedite?

I know that there are two reasons listed for emergency AP, which I don't think he qualifies for. But he qualifies for 2 of the USCIS expedite reasons which I have no doubt I can prove. I read that this can be attempted but I'm curious if 1) anyone has done it 2) how long did it take 3) can you make an info pass appointment based on this request

  13. It took two months for me to receive any contact from Tunis embassy and 3 months to receive an interview appointment.

Oh and also you can't do it online they will contact you by email to schedule it.

  14. San Marcos is very far from the hub of jobs which are more so in San Diego, so it isn't surprising that you have to drive far. That is the reality of living in San Marcos - sorry. You can either move into San Diego or you can commute.

And of course there are way more jobs available in LA than in San Diego.

While you're looking for a job, you can volunteer if you're bored. So many opportunities. Check out WorldBeat Center in Balboa Park.

I used to live in San Diego for many years so I have an idea about it. Also - you might consider getting your LCSW from USA.
