  1. Hello, I’m a Russian citizen who recently became a US citizen and going to Russia next month. I’m planning to use my Russian international passport for my travels. Am I suppose to provide any special paperwork stating that I’m an American citizen now with dual citizenship. Has anybody had any experience traveling to Russia after obtaining American citizenship. Thank you.

  2. My wife went through this same thing last year. Her passport was expiring, and she was not registered to any apartment in Russia. We sent the passport off to the embassy in Washington. They did call and ask why she did not register here at the embassy and she told them she didn't know about it, and she declined to register with them. They did issue her a new passport. It took about 6 months for the new passport to arrive which seemed like a long time, but perhaps it is quicker at their consulate in NYC.

was her international passport expiring or her national?

And what if i leave the country(just for a few days on vacation) with my passport expired(i'm russian married to american and i have a green card),will they let me do it and will i be able to reenter

  3. Hi everybody.haven't been here for a while.but now something came upon us again.my international(zagran) passport expired. And we were just thinking of going on vacation outside the US.When i left Russia on K1 visa to marry Sarah i didn't get a stamp in my passport that i'm moving to the US,i didn't know that i had to do it anyway.

But i'm not registered to any partment in my hometown in Russia anymore(официально снялся с регистрационного учета),i took care of that. And i looked up the NYC consulate requierements to get a new passport.I don't have a stamp but I'm not registered in my hometown in Russia anymore(снялся с регистрационного учета).

Anybody had something similar to this and how long does it take to get my international passport renewed?

    Thank you

  4. i 'm flying from DC to Saint-Petersburg.So it's more expensive than flying from NYC to Moscow

    So then why do it?

You can take public trans on both sides of the pond (the bus, a train) for pretty cheap, so why fly somewhere more expensive? Why not take the train from DC to NYC and the bus/train from Moscow to ST. Petersburg? You could probably save a lot of money like that.

it's not true.i checked it.if i would like to fly drom NYC to Moscow,i would have to take a train to NYC and then train or a plane from Moscow to SPB,it would cost me the same.so it's not a good way.

  5. I'm scared to stay in a hostel after watching the movie "Hostel" a couple years ago! But I guess that was Slovakia which is a lot more dangerous then the Russian Federation. :P

what are you talking about?you're not serious about what you're saying, are you?

  6. My wife didn't register when she came to Russia. The visa company she used never said a word to her about it. I wonder if they pre-registered her like Galina? We are getting ready to go back and now she is worried b/c she is getting ready to apply for another visa. Can it be problem??

  7. Hi all. Now,when my green card is on the way and everything is great we are starting to look for affordable tickets to Russia.I didn't look through many sites yet but so far i couldn't find anything good. Can you please share your experience of finding tickets through the internet or maybe some other way.

    Thank you very much

  8. I received this response -

    Dear Ms. Simpson,

The security check remains pending. Until a response is received we are unable to proceed with processing.

We understand that you are anxious and frustrated, however, the law requires all applicants complete a background check to ensure the safety and security of all Americans. As per the information you were previously provided, we are not able to provide a timeframe regarding the processing of security checks

    Screw these people. Sideways.

  9. if your husband wants you to be with him during the summer,it's understandable.but how can he say things like divorce, when you talk about seeing your family.if he really means it,then it's not love and that's not happy life.what if you say to him no more baseball, monday night football or whatever he likes or you will file for divorce.I know it sounds rediculous because in case of divorce you go to back to russia. But on the other hand when he says about divorce if you go to russia, does he really want this divorce?Does he really want to say good bye to you and never see you again?

  10. hi,i went through it.i thought that it would be different.but from my own experience it was the same.the same questions, the same evidence, the same result.so,there is nothing to be afraid of.if you are in love,if he loves you and if you have everything to prove it,then it's gonna be fine.be cool.

  11. i'm not going to russia untill i get all the documents i need.i don't want anything to happen to me.

and i'm going to contact russian ambassy here in dc to find out all the info i need.

and about possibility of being stopped at the border - jewel,is it possible for you to find out what part(season) of the year the person you know was stopped?

now the law changed and now they are looking for people to take them to army only once a year.and i don't think that they can stop me if it is not the right time of the year.if we go to russia,we will go in fall.and this is the time when people try to pass exams to high schools and universities,it is not army draft time.but i will try to gind out more about it anyway.
