  1. I personally struggle with controlling my stress levels and do freak out easliy...

Tell me about it...I'm right there with ya, sister! :P It's ok to feel the way you do, and it's ok to vent. Most of us don't have friends/family who FULLY understand the visa process & our frustrations, so it's easiest to vent here on the forum where others have shared experiences. That's the best thing about being on VJ...just finding people who understand!

    Chin up...you're not alone. :)

  2. At the end of the day this is a LONG process, and that means that inevitably, one person will end up doing more work than the other from time to time...sometimes the husband, sometimes the wife. It all evens out over time. The point is to be in it together, working towards the end goal as a team. :)

  3. Hi everyone,

I'm preparing my I-864. I will soon ask my HR department for the "employer letter" and want to be sure I am including all the right info. Based on previous posts, it looks like the letter should include:

    1) My job title

    2) Length of time at the company, including start date

    3) My current standing (e.g. "In good standing")

    4) Current salary

Is there anything else I should have them include?

Also, should I have them list the NVC mailing address in the header or does it matter? (Being paranoid, per usual.)

    Thanks for your help.

    Mariel

Anyone know why it take so long.

    thanks

  5. I think most of us have received a 2nd copy of the RFE. When I called USCIS, they said I still had to send back the duplicate RFE, even though they already received my original response. I was instructed to send a copy of my original response, a copy of the email from them stating that they received it, and the new form signed/dated AGAIN.

This is truly ridiculous, but it's happening to most of us out here. Guess we just have to respond again.

  6. I just received a 2nd RFE for the IMBRA notice too  , I think I will just send it back with a note and a copy of the 1st one, and just send it regular mail???

I was just thinking the same as you...send it back with a letter and copy of the 1st, via regular mail.

Seriously, what is their problem over there?!?!? I wonder if they had a system-wide error that generated new RFEs for everyone. Either way, this is beyond annoying. (sorry it feels good to vent.) ;)

  7. Come on! It does not make sense. It is not your fault that they mailed you the same thing twice. They need only one RFE back. Why do you have to go the post office and waste your time? The USCIS customer service persons perhaps thought you are the only one who got the same email twice. Remember, USCIS also sends the same email more than once as well. Just send one RFE back and don't worry about it.

I agree, this is COMPLETELY ridiculous. Could they get their act together?!?! I am at the end of my rope with them. If they were a business, they would be OUT of business so fast it would make their heads spin. It is infuriating that they can give us the run-around like this and we just have to sit back and take it.

  8. This is the "tired husband's" wife here...I just called USCIS and asked about this. They said I should send a letter to USCIS explaining that we already submitted our evidence for IMBRA, and attaching a copy of the one we originally sent back, plus a copy of the new RFE we received.

Great...another trip to the post office and more overnight delivery fees. Could they get their act together already?!?!?!?!? Grrrr.

    The Tired Wife

  9. I have also been very confused by this issue. My legal name is still my maiden name, but I use my married name at work, etc. I just always put down my married name under "other names used" and it hasn't been a problem.

Also, I once asked a USCIS operator about this and they told me that the government assumes a wife will use her new husband's last name, so they almost expect to see this kind of thing if you haven't legally changed over your name yet.

    Hope that helps!

  10. Recieved IMBRA RFE for the I-129 on the 3rd July.Mailed on the 5th.

On the 10th July we received confirmation email saying the following:

On July 10, 2006, we received your response to our request for evidence or

information. However because preliminary processing was complete, the remaining

processing time will be less than the maximum stated in this message. You will

receive a written decision on this case. You can use our processing dates to

estimate when this case will be done. Follow the the link below for current

    processing dates.

On the 13th July my wife recieves another IMBRA RFE dated the 10thJuly.

What does this mean?? the RFE is exactly the same copy as the one we have already filled out and sent back.

Are we to send this back as well?

And after reading the confirmation email a hundred times I can still not work out what the hell they mean! any ideas?

after 6+ months a very tired husband of this whole process is saying thanks in advance of any help.

  11. ??

Arent W2's only necessary if you filed previously jointly with a previous spouse and you need to separate your income from the spouses.

You would show on the 864 what you declared for tax urposes. You cant say that you earn so much, and show a different number as your gross income for tax purposes.

I had a different job in 2005 with a regular salary structure, so there won't be any discrepancy between my taxes and what I report as current salary + commission. I just got this new job recently.

I think you may be right...I thought you only had to provide W2s if you filed jointly, but I've seen conflicting information lately. I think I'm going to stick with the tax transcripts. Thanks!

  12. Hi Everyone,

I am getting my I-864 ready and have a few questions:

    1) Do I have to provide my W2s? I can't find them. Will tax transcripts be enough?

    2) My income is a base salary plus a guaranteed commission. Should I show the total, or the base salary only? (I meet poverty guidelines either way, but tax year 2005 was bad for me, so I feel the need to make this year look as good as possible.) The I-864 form doesn't really allow enough space to show them separately, but a letter from my employer would break out the base and commission as separate. I don't want to cause confusion by listing the grand total on the form while having two separate figures in the employer letter. What's the best approach?

    Any guidance is appreciated.

    Thanks!

  13. Whilst most seem to get a response within a couple of days of their email, there are some that have waited a week or more. You can scan/email or fax the DS-3032 that you received to your spouse, have them complete, sign it and then scan/email or fax it back to you so you can send it off to them straight away. This is what we did. Meanwhile you may just receive the confirmation email from NVC of your email. It wont matter if they get it twice as this doesnt appear to be a big deal with the 'Choice of Agent' hence why they have also been accepting this process via email.

So then my husband (who posted this original question) could sign/date the Choice of Agent form he received in the mail in the UK and send it to me (the USC) to send back to NVC on his behalf. Right?

    Thanks as always!

  14. On the 6th July I emailed the NVC my choice of Agent. It now the 13th and I have heard nothing back.

Today I received in the mail my hard copy of the form to mail back.

Should mail this copy in straight away? Should I re-email NVC? do they normally take a week to get back to you? :help:

Any advice much appreciated, confused as what to do.

  15. I don't think you need to worry. As long as you provided all the info requested on the I-130, you should be fine. Afterall, I doubt that 100% of the applicants follow the instructions on this site!

Be patient...if you will learn anything on this forum it's that these things can take a LOOONNNGG time. Just keep watching your bank account to see when the check has cleared.

    Best of luck!
