  1. Hi misc111,

I would imagine it depends on the local embassy whether or not they give your the receipt number information on their website. Is there a way to contact your local embassy in India about your case? Phone calls, emails, or walk-ins? If your permit is being transferred to the US embassy in India through D.C., the USCIS in the US probably won't be able to help you, most likely.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards.

  2. Hello all,

Final update: I went to the US Embassy in Tokyo today, and, my permit was peacefully waiting for me there. What they required include my passport, green card, and I797 with an ASC stamp on it (The US local ASC where I had my biometrics appointment stamped on my I797 appointment notice). Entering into the Embassy took some time, because they did baggage check twice (once at the gate, and the second time at the entrance). The process inside went rather smoothly and I didn't need to wait at all.

Hope this information will be helpful to somebody someday!

  3. Hello all,

This is just to follow up.

My reentry permit seems to have been processed properly and is ready for pick up at the US Embassy in Tokyo.

After I started the conversation at this forum, I found this website where the US Embassy in Tokyo updates the reentry permit status for each applicant.

    http://japan2.usembassy.gov/e/visa/tvisa-iv-reentry-status.html

I've been checking it everyday, and today, I found my receipt number on the list. Is63 was so right! USCIS was transferring my permit to Tokyo through their DC hub.

Thank you all very much for the advice! I will go and pick up my permit soon!

  4. Hello is63,

Thank you so much for spending your time to figure out what is going on with my case!

I looked into the possibility you mentioned; It turned out that the zip code of the delivered address shown on the USPS website matched the zip code of the USCIS Seoul Field Office in DC where they deal with immigration cases of South Korea and JAPAN. It is highly possible that my reentry permit was sent there. Hopefully they did that because they were going to forward it to Tokyo soon? I will check with the US Embassy in Tokyo. I will keep you posted.

Thank you again for your advice!!!

  5. Hello Boiler,

On the application form, there are several options for how you want to receive your permit. Pick up at your local embassy (in my case, the US embassy in Tokyo) is one of the options. I checked with the USCIS customer support about this, and, in my understanding, as long as I have my biometrics taken before I leave the US, all I need to do is to wait to hear from the USCIS about when the permit is ready for pick-up at a local embassy. So I left the States after my biometrics was done, but before the permit was issued.

Any idea about what is happening in my case?

    Thank you!!

  6. Hello,

It seems like I am in trouble and I would like to ask for your help.

I applied to the reentry permit in May 2015 and got my biometrics done on June 15, 2015. Since I needed to leave the US shortly, in my original application form, I chose to pick up my permit in Tokyo, Japan. When I looked up my case status at the end of July, 2015, it said that "My document was delivered to me by post office" and gave a USPS tracking number. The USPS tracking website shows, however, that the mail was delivered in Washington DC. I am currently in Tokyo and certainly did not receive anything from the USCIS yet. Plus, I did not list any DC address in my application. Has anyone had a similar problem before? In which case, how did you handle the problem?

Any advice will help. Thank you very much!

  7. Hello all,

I filed I-751 a few weeks ago and just received the ASC appointment notice for my biometrics today.

However, this notice lists two Application/Petition/Request Numbers at the top of the notice, both starting with EAC. One number is valid on the www.uscis.gov website to track the status of my case, but the other number is invalid. Why did I get two numbers? Has anyone gotten two numbers?

If you know anything and share with me, I would appreciate it very much.

    All the best.
