  1. My wife is on Birth Control Pills and they asked her about sexual contact but she mentioned she was on the pill and was able to have immunizations on the 2nd day no problem even with recent contact.

She's not normally on BCP/OCP but she's an MD and an OB-Gyn in particular, so she knows the risks about becoming pregnant and having live virus vaccinations (e.g. MMR). So she'll be on the pill for 3 months after her medical (although we've found out that recent guidelines have reduced the exposure down to 1 month).

  2. The original poster in this thread (http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/539787-filipina-wife-now-usc;-hkg-divorce;-risk-in-traveling-to-phils/) filed for divorce in Hong Kong and was able to go through the K-1 visa process after at the US Embassy Manila.

She's now a US CItizen. Read through the thread and maybe contact the OP to she what she did and note the things I and others are pointing out.

Mexico is way too damn far away.

  3. Don't listen to aleful,

That would be what you would do if you were doing IR-1/CR-1 through the lockbox system.

But I can see that you're doing IR-1/CR-1 through DCF, particularly at US Embassy Manila. You just need to have those (I-864 and supporting documents) ready with you when you go for your interview at US Embassy Manila.

Can't help you though with the lease agreement.

    Cheers.

  4. Well, they did switch to 2Go from DelBros a few years back. Maybe once the 2Go contract comes up for renewal, if they get enough complaints of service, perhaps they'll take time to review the quality of service and maybe pick another company.

I mean there's LBC, Air21, Johnny Air & other local freight forwarders that'd love to have the USEM contract right?

And if you do complain, I'd cc your US Senators & Congressional Rep. Just so it's on the record that you're the USC petitioner complaining.

  5. Update: Finished with CFO yesterday.

Got all the requirements from Hank_'s signature list.

    Had a 9am appointment.

Got there at about 630am. Dropped the wife off while I went off to park in a better/trusted location. Hiked over and waited for her.

Met an American from CDO named George and a Danish man waiting for their significant others to get thru CFO too.

Was expecting to have the wife take a cab since I've read reviews and blogs saying that you'd finish up past 1pm. But luckily wife's seminar finished close to 11am and was able to pick her up and go home at about noon.

Wife said that she got some good information from the session, asked some good questions (like I told her to) and when the counselor asked her and found out that we're both MDs and we met at UST, she basically had no more questions for the wife.

  6. We applied on the 11th of Feb and another couple applied on the 3rd of Feb. We both received our email with Packet 3 on the same day... March 2nd, perhaps they group the approvals together each month and notify all approvals at the same time. Or maybe not, could be the person that is working your paticular case.

Actually, you guys should have been calling USCIS Manila for case updates about a week to two weeks about your case instead of waiting for the packet 3 email. From my experience, I gather that I probably would have gotten the Packet 3 email later than I did. And I believe I've read of cases where people had their I-130 approved even quicker.

  7. Balikbayan visa is not needed in this situation.

OP is still a PHL Citizen traveling on a PHL passport. No need to stamp a visa into a PHL passport. You're just a returning PHL citizen.

Balikbayans are former PHL Citizens who have naturalized in foreign countries.

(Example: When I was solely a US Citizen, I'd get the Balikbayan visa stamped into my US Passport. Now, as a Dual US-PHL Citizen, I'm treated as a returning PHL Citizen and don't get anything stamped except date of arrival. I can stay in the PHL as long as I want).

The OP can stay as long as she wants as far as the PHL Gov't is concerned. Don't stay longer than needed, as Greenbaum mentioned.

  8. My wife and I went to the Social Security office yesterday to inquire about her social security card. They told my wife to come back after 3 weeks because she has to be in the US for three weeks. Did they give her the correct information? My wife arrived last Sunday here in California.

From the information I've read here on VJ, and across the intertubes, it usually arrives at your mailing address 3 weeks after you arrive at POE. If it doesn't arrive in 3 weeks, follow up at your nearest SSA office, so it seems their advice is correct.

Assuming of course that you checked yes to the SSN assignment question when you filled out your DS-260. Did you guys do that?

  9. The Primary Sponsor (your husband) and the Joint Sponsor do not necessarily have to have the same residence.

The Joint Sponsor has to fill up another I-864. Whether it's Dad or Mom, or both. Each joint sponsor has to fill up their own I-864.

The I-864A is to be filled up by a household member, if their income will be used by the Joint Sponsor to fulfill the income requirement.

Example: Since my income is from here in the PHL, I can't use it to fulfill the income requirement. So I had my father as a Joint Sponsor. So when the interview came, I brought with me: an I-864 filled out and signed by me, with my information; an I-864 filled out and signed by my father; and I-864A filled out by my mom & sign by both my father and mother.

My parents file joint taxes with the IRS, so the financial/income info was based on that. And since my mom is a household member of my dad, she filled out an I-864A.

  10. Best way to quit in my personal experience as a former smoker:

-Gradual reduction is better than cold turkey.

-Give your friends/smoking buddies incentives to help you quit instead of sabotaging you. In my case, it was a round of beers and pulutan for every 10 days I went without a smoke.

  11. Speaking as a doctor, please stop smoking. It's bad for you to being with. Doing so as an asthmatic is even more foolish.

But when it comes to SLEC and the medical, they're looking for dangers to public health, so if you're clear from TB at the last Xray and are clear now, you should be all set. (Again, if your Xrays at SLEC are clear).

  12. Update: Got a text from 2Go-Mall of Asia at 3pm today saying our IV Packet was received and was ready for pickup. We were out and about today so only made it to MoA past 5pm.

Was expecting something today or tomorrow since I've been checking the US TravelDocs & 2Go tracking sites ever since I saw the CEAC status updated to ISSUED the afternoon of our interview last Thursday. US TravelDocs showed an update when I woke this morning that the wife's passport had been forwarded for shipment/delivery so I spend every other hour checking the 2Go site tracking the package. Saw that it left the Embassy and/or received by 2Go at 9am this morning. And about 20 minutes after my last check on the 2Go website, both the wife & I received the text from 2Go.

IV Packet shipped and in hand on the 3rd business day after the interview. Not bad at all.

Just spend the last 15 minutes reading up on threads and just now cut a small hole into the plastic outer envelope to retrieve the wife's passport, leaving the yellow "Holy of Holies"-"Ark of the Covenant"-"Do Not Open" envelope alone. Luckily the Immigrant Data Summary is clear and unobstructed and can be photocopies through the transparent clear plastic outer envelope.

    Now on to the CFO!!!

  13. hi! Is there anyone of you had undergone tb treatment in slec? Is it really needed to take the medicine in the slec for 6months? And pay for another 245$ for medical? How long usually need to wait for us to proceed to the interview process? Thanks in advance

TB can kill you if it's not treated. All other concerns should be secondary to your health.

Once you are given the all clear by SLEC, you'll able to schedule the visa interview.

  14. In my years here in a PHL, and from what I've seen from the law. I think bigamy will only be an issue if the first husband files a case against the OP's wife for bigamy. I don't think the PHL Gov't will go out of its way to prosecute for bigamy, particularly if she's solely a USC now.

Not a lawyer though. And I guess in this case, being a Dual Citizen would complicate the issue.
