  1. It shouldn't take that long for an interview date? Did you try emailing the embassy. Someone didn't get theirs after 3 weeks and when they emailed they found out their interview was just over a week away...

I did, they send me to London's website. I cant get through to them via phone - it is just ringing. When I called NVC first time back in the end of April I was told that I haven't submitted a readiness form ( which I did! , but never mind), after I did it again, status got updated with that date. So it is already 5 weeks since that happened and still nothing.

  2. According to london embassy they are valid for a year :)

"Police Certificates for the United Kingdom: If you have resided in the United Kingdom for 6 months or more since the age of 16, you are required to obtain a police certificate from the ACPO Criminal Records Office (ACRO). Further information is available from their website at www.acro.police.uk.

Note: UK police certificates are valid for 12 months only. Failure to present all necessary and valid police certificates at the time of the interview will incur significant delays to your application. "

    See http://london.usembassy.gov/iv/application_documents.html#008if it helps

Even better! I checked ACRO website before.

  3. Hello all!! I was just hoping to get an idea of how long it took people to receive packet 4 after their medical? I am seeing ~11-15 days on average? My finance's medical was 11/5, last update on CEAC website was 14/5.. so I'm hoping tomorrow is the day!

Hope it will show up soon for you guys! Quite a few people called NVC as they can see once interview date has being assigned on the system, typically beats the post :) Although, might want to be persistent as some are nicer then others.

  4. Honestly there is no way to really answer this. Marriage license varies state my state unfortunately here. So it depends on your state as to what they do. Mine has no waiting period and no blood work. Some require blood work and some require a waiting period. Normally if they require a waiting period you apply for it and then they will "approve it" after the waiting period. . You can look on the states website and it should be able to tell you the criteria specifically and normally give you an email address of the clerks office to call or email them to ask any questions. Hope that helps.

Thanks! Just checked, hassle free stage, looks like. At least some good news!

  5. I've called. NVC gave me a number for general inquiries for London embassy. My suggestion: Don't bother. You will spend 10 minutes listening to a monotone automated voice reading you the entire website, then they will take every detail from you over the phone, stopping short only at a request for the size of your knickers and then (drum roll ...) you will be told how to use the contact form on the website.

Here's what I think has happened in your case.

The CEAC update on your case status was when they received your medical results.

I got no update when I submitted my readiness form. There was certainly no update when they received the DS 160.

My theory is that the DS 160 floats in some kind of black hole until your interview date. It's neither here nor there. You give the confirmation number when you submit your readiness form and then you take your confirmation page print out to the interview and they retrieve it (or let you take the confirmation of a new one if you have amended and re-done it).

It can take up to two weeks from the time they have everything they need from you before they issue the interview letter and then it still has to arrive in the mail.

I think you should use the contact form if you are concerned as they do reply. Be specific about what you are asking or they send you to the website again for information. For example tell them: "How do I know that my readiness form has been receive?"

Questions which seem vague get a very generic response without an answer so you want to be right on target with exactly what you want to know.

I was very specific in my email but reply looked like it has being system generated - not referral to a word of what was in my query. I am going to wait. One day things will happen, hey. Not much to do for control freaks like all of us here :) Could it be some group life lesson? :D

  6. Hey guys,

Question: Is anyone had luck in contacting London Embassy via the phone, if yes what number did you call?

As I dont seem to go get through :( Using this phone Callers within the United Kingdom: Callers from within the UK should dial 020-3608-6998.

Problem is I have had my medical on 16th of April, submitted on 18th of April DS160 and readiness form. They updated case status on 21st (NVC said that it was when London acknowledged my DS160). I heard nothing until last Thursday, 7th of May, so I called NVC ( as advised by someone in this thread) - they said I haven't submitted Readiness form - well, I cant prove that I did! So I submitted it again the same day. My status got updated on 7th of May on CEAC website. I still haven't heard anything from London Embassy so far :( Called NVC just now - they said contact Embassy. I emailed them last week, reply was go on the website and help yourself :(((((

Just want to find out what is happening and feeling quite desperate at this stage.

  7. Hi all

I've not been very good at keeping up here the last few days. I'm finishing up at work end of next week and things have been a bit chaotic, including my mood at times

I noticed that the CEAC updated the day the issued the interview letter. It took two days to arrive. I also called NVC (the letter had been issued, but I didn't know at the time) and they gave me my interview date over the phone and said it had been assigned on Monday April 21st.

I'm not sure they pay attention to the intended wedding date if it is too soon. Our actual planned wedding date was at the end of May. WIth the interview date they assigned it was way too risky to stick with that date. If the visa takes more than 8 days to arrive (and there is a bank holiday the Monday after my interview so we have to expect that it will take a little longer) we may have been flying in the night before the wedding.

It's all a big mystery and like the rest of this process.

I tracked the case status updates while we were waiting and it updated as follows:

When the case arrived at the embassy

When the readiness form was received

When the medical results were received

when the interview date was assigned and the letter was issued

When the MRV fee was paid and appointment date confirmed

    I hope that helps.

And yes, Deborah is correct that they won't do anything until they have everything they need from you, so they will consider you for an interview only once they have received the last thing they are waiting for, whether that be the medical results or the readiness form. I don't believe it makes an iota of a difference what you send first. Once they have it all, it seems to trigger the system to generate an interview date.

My CEAC entry was updated on 21st of April. OMG.

I emailed Embassy today. Hope I will hear from them soon. I don't think my date for interview will be closer then next week at least, judging by posts. I just hope :)

Thanks so much everyone for your posts as one does feel very lost without it!

  8. Hi, I am waiting for my letter any day now - when is your interview date just for guidance :)

Hi. This is probably a silly question and I may be over thinking things slightly but... I received my interview letter today and besides that it is further away than I hoped, it is also at 1pm. I have been following the reviews and questions regarding interviews and have never noticed anyone having their interview in the afternoon. I guess what I'm asking is for some reassurance that they don't just schedule afternoon appointments for those they think they might refuse. Hope someone can please put my mind at rest. Thanks
