  1. I have looked around this site for a while about what my fiance should bring with him from Cuba, such as required documents... but have had no such luck. So maybe someone can direct me to the appropriate place. I know he will need his birth certificate, but what other documents will be helpful once he is here? I was thinking maybe school records, vaccination record, etc. Also for those that have done this specifically from Cuba... are there certain things that he will not be able to bring into the US, or basically anything distinctly Cuban is not allowed? Thanks for your help.

    Wow, congrats..

Well, some of the things that are helpful are school degrees..

drivers licence.. with a copy of the cuban DL.. he doesnt have to take the drug test.

vaccinations.. alot are good and you will need them when you apply for adjustment of status..

thats all I can think of right now..

    hope it helps..

  3. Yes Darling,,,

President's Day.. a National Holiday... the Gov. offices are closed..

Hi I was wanting to ask you guys if you know if today is a public holiday for the Americans?

I know it is some presidents birthday ot something like that.

Was just wondering, due to our papers.

    Thanks

  4. Hi,

Well everyone knows that there are different ways of traveling to Cuba if you really wanted to.. there are different licenses that the US issues. You can try to obtain one..

And Yes it is good to go to the interview.. and yes you are allowed in the interview with your finace'...

And you being there has nothing to do with the restrictions...They dont ask you anything in regards to the Stupid restrictions we have now days..

My husband just had his interview in Sept. and He told me that there were a few couples that went together,, they allow you both in the interview. As an US citizen you dont even need permision to enter the US embassy.

    Good luck...!!!

wouldn't you have to get US permission just to travel to Cuba in order to be at the interview? How would you get there and explain to the consular your appearance?

You probably are not even allowed in anyhow, some consulates don't let the spouse/sponsor in to the interview.

  5. :D Thank you Peter...

I was reading the forum and came across this great info you provided and I finally know that my packet was received in Havana...

They still haven't notified my fiance but at least now i know where I'm standing..

It's hard when weeks go by and you don't even know what is going on with your case..

I called NVC and they said my package was shipped on May 22,2006 the info. you provided is great...!!!

    Thanks again!!! :D:star:

  6. Is there anything I can do to find out what is going on with my case??

it was sent to Havana May 22,2006 and my fiance hasn't been notified yet. its been almost two weeks I'm afraid they have it just laying around and wasting precious time...

I called the NVC and they wouldn't give me the DHL tracking #... is there something else I can do?? has this happen to anyone else? They said the only thing they can give me is the phone # to the embassy in Havana.. Well,,, unfortunately phone calls to Cuba are very expensive and I need to know if I have other options to try to speed up the process.

    :help:

  7. Success!! My fiancee has her visa in-hand!!! We are elated as you can imagine!!

I wasn't present for the interview (i am here in the us), so she did it alone.

We were prepared for anything the interviewer could give us, but in the end the interview turned out to be quite simple.

where did you meet your fiancee

    when did you meet him?

    How old are you?

    how old is your fiancee?

    what are your marriage plans?

After her response, the CO simple stated:

"this case is approved, you have 90 days to marry upon arrival to the US and 6 months to travel to US."

The CO had our materials (134, evidence, etc) at his desk before calling my fiancee for the interview. My fiancee handed in this material at the beginning of the day (she waited for about 5 hours before her number was called for the interview). During the interview the CO was looking over all the material my fiancee presented in the morning (e.g. 134), which was all in order (thanks in part to the great advice I received from reading visajourney.com for the past 6 months).

The CO also had all of the evidence that we presented in the beginning 129f (he looked through the pictures that were originally sent too).

anyway, she should be here in 2 to 3 weeks! We can't wait to see each other and get married!yeeeeeeeeeee!

    good luck to all!

    congrats,

I'm glad everything went smooth for you!

thanks for the tips on the interview. :star::star::star::star::star:

  8. immigration lawyer in cuba? The date has to do with US side of things, thus I don't know how an immigration laywer in cuba could help.. but if you have an idea.. let me know!!

    thanks

Hi Ryan, I'm sorry I dont really know how it works or how they have that connection but I do know that most of them charge between $30-$50. and they guide your fiance(e) through the whole process, make sure everything is in order and even get them a sooner interview date.
