Just now, Tar999 said:
I applied early January and my case was recently transferred. So maybe that helped. However, I have seen a few random cases get approved, get RFEs and being transferred without any sequence.
You applied for N-400? If yes, then it seems that the ones that do get their cases processed quicker

Hi everyone, I haven't written in a while, so here is my update
I sent the petition in Dec 2017, got NOA on the 14th. They were processing in in California. Then my case was transferred to my local center for processing, then a couple months later in June they sent it back to California. Got my 18 month extension letter sometime later. Still waiting so far

Hi guys!
How are you? Are there any may filers left who didn't have their interview scheduled yet?
I just wanted to tell you how our interview went.
We arrived at the office at 9 am and were out of the office by 10 30, i think. The officer was very professional, we went over all of our petitions, then she asked us questions such as "how did you meet" etc., then asked for the additional documents that we brought to the interview, we went over them too and then she said that everything looks in order and explained about the conditional green card and when we need to apply for the unconditional one, and the interview was over
and a couple days later I looked my case up, and it said "your card is being produced"
That's about it)

We recieved the interview notice for Jan 6, 2016! Yay!

Hi, Lucia21, we are in Michigan and applied in May too. We haven't even recieved the "You case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" letter yet. Our lawyer told us, that it will still be another 4-5 months. So you are not the only one waiting for a year, there are a lot of us waiting.
Oh, our lawyer strongly advised not to use AP (since I overstayed too) unless it is a life/death matter

Lana10, congratulations! What state are you in? I couldn't find it on your timeline

Sorry Allyalexandra, I didn't get an email notification about your post and I usually do, so this might be late. FYI, I never prepared for the test, did pass though but would have to wait 30 days as my previous DL scan was not accepted as a proof, they said they need something physical no copies whatsoever.
I'll advice reading the what every driver should know for preparations. I took the trst same day I got the ssn at anout 4:20pm.
Oh no, it's not late at all. Congrats though! you can start driving now!
I prepared for the test (did tests online), came into the SOS office, waited for 2,5 hours and then the sos employee couldn't verify my documents with DHS and couldn't issue me a pass for the written test or anything. She had to submit a SAVE (alien verification) form for me, and now I'm waiting for USCIS/DHS to resolve this issue! and I have no idea how long it will take

NihonGirl, congrats!! one step closer for you
-
shynepapin, congrats on getting your ssn card!
how was the test? what did you use to prepare for it? only "what every driver needs to know"? or did you do the tests online as well?
I'm going tomorrow
-
......so some june filers already got their inteview letters and some already went to have their interviews... haha, so is it a "skip may filers" thing? I hope not
-
shynepapin, I dont know, you can probably call them and ask.... doesn't hurt to try though)
yeah, I was told by the agent that my ssn card will come in 3-4 weeks, so I guess it is a michigan thing. I applied for SSN august 18, went to them again got my number on august 28th, still no card. but at least I have my number)
-
wow, I've never heard about anyone recieving NPIW letters if they are adjusting from B2 visas (marriage based)
-
Ichavacortiz, you should look on you CA DMV website. this info was for Michigan. and the laws very from state to state
-
this is what I found (it is true if you are more than 18 yo):
The Road Test
PRACTICE PERIOD: After you pass the written test and receive a temporary instruction permit, you are required to wait for a 30-day practice period before taking the road test. However, if you have in your possession a Driver's License from your country, the 30-day practice period will be waived. Your license must be translated into English by a translation service unless the parts of the license that list the name, date of birth, country of issue, issue date, type of license and expiration date are in English.
-
shynepapin, the laws differ from state to state. in michigan, if you are over 18 and can't provide a proof of driving in another country - it's a 30 day waiting period after your written test until you can pass a driver's test. if you have one: the 30 day rule is waived
but 30 days is not that bad)
haha, avania, hopefully there will be no zombie attacks in near future, i dont want our AOS delayed cause of stupid zombies))
-
wow, thats fast!!! yaaaay! i went to apply for one this tuesday (the agent was very nice, cracked some Terminator and Star wars jokes), and he told me that i will get the card in 3-4 weeks
so next step: us driver's license)
-
you should get the first NOAs, stating that the USCIS office recieved your application. usually people get those withing a week or two. did you get those?
-
oh my, sorry to hear about your SSN, avania! but it's good that the app. was finally submitted and you'll get it soon!
-
all quiet on the western front.....)

Hi, I was in the same situation). Call your husband's accountant and ask them how can you apply for an ITIN number (or you can find it on the IRS website). This is an equivalent of SSN for peope who cant qualify for SSN. Although, it takes almost 4-5 weeks to get one, but after you get it, you can open a joint bank account, file taxes together and apply for joint medical even. That should be enough to present at the interview
You can also wait for your EAD and apply for SSN then, but it will take around 3 months from your NOA1 date
I tried opening a bank account without SSN - everybody declined. Even the bank where my husband had an account for 8smth years. The same thing with Obamacare

I DID LOL!!! She said "you live in a big city, we have tons of applications from NY (lol). You are looking at about 4 months for an interview date". She did state I might be lucky to get a date sooner...fingers crossed! We even talked about her dog LOL, thats how great the conversation went! I wish she would just approve my I-485, now that would really make my day (wishful thinking).
Congrats, Avania!
Wait, 4 months since you mailed application, or 4 months since you called??

So there were no new developments in my case for quite some time now, so I was thinking that I should mail new additional info, like new taxes and insurances, etc. Has anyone done that yet? where do you think I should mail it? to the original location where I mailed this ROC form (Texas), or to mail it to the office in California that currently has my application...
