OMG Postoffice marked the green card as undeliverable! We have been getting everything on this address, even the EAD card. Does anyone know, or went through something similar?
-
Finished our interview and 1 hour later our online status changed to card ordered for production!
Done with this journey!

Congratulations! What questions did they ask?
-
Yes I was intrigued that they sent you two notices by mail. I thought it was fine for us to only get one letter, because the EAD card is a combo card for both applications. I wasn't expecting another letter. I wonder why they are so variable, and why they have been really slow lately with things. Even the case processing times website hasn't been updated for over a month now.
-
So you receive two emails and two postings on the website, one set saying EAD approved and the other set saying AP approved.
Then you get a letter in mail saying AP approved.
Then you get a letter in mail saying EAD approved, and glued to this letter is the combined EAD/AP card.
Right?
We got emails and text messages for both the EAD and the AP approval. Then an email with USPS tracking of EAD. Then EAD arrived (combo card). Never got an approval notice for the AP per se.

Hello all,
We have our interview scheduled, and 5 days later we had originally planned to take a cruise to the caribbean. We have the EAD/AP combo card. My question is: can we travel with the AP after the interview if the GC is not approved on the spot?
I have also read that some offices have been reluctant to issue an i-551 stamp. Has anyone been in a similar condition recently?

Our interview just got scheduled this morning for May 2015! Finally!

Still waiting for interview to get scheduled. It has been 6 months now since we filed. Our office is still processing cases file in August supposedly. On another note, we did travel and return with the AP without issues.
Any October filers still waiting for their interview?
-
We filed in October and we haven't received an interview appointment yet...
-
Any October filers with interviews scheduled? We are at day 120 with no news. We will be outside normal processing on Monday according to our service center.
-
It takes 60-90 days for an i131 to get approved, and this is provided you do not run into delays due to RFE's. Thus applying in February for a trip in March may be difficult.
You can apply after your trip.
If you are married to a US citizen, having your J1 status expire should not be an issue. As you are aware, Canadians are not issued a Visa, rather they are given status (J1 in your case) upon entry with a DS2019.

Day 112 no news yet...

If anyone know the answer to these question I would really appreciate it. Our i485/i130 application is still pending, and the EAD/AP card has been approved.
1) When you travel and re-enter using the EAD/AP card, what status will one be admitted in?
2) I am currently on a J1 visa and obtained a waiver for the 2 year home residence requirement, does that affect my re-entry?
-
Do you have any friends who wouldn't charge you a fee?
-
Technically, there is nothing that says you cannot translate your own so long as you include a certified translation, but you are an interested party so USCIS may not accept it. You should get someone else to do it.
Free as in you dont have to pay. Rev.com charges ~$20 per translation.
If you want to translate it yourself go ahead, let us know how it goes.
-
You cant translate it yourself. The USCIS website has a template for certifying and translating documents and it should be done by someone who is not the applicant or the petitioner (preferably not related either). http://www.uscis.gov/forms/forms-and-fees/general-tips-assembling-applications-mailing
This is the free way of translating.
Alternatively, you can check out www.rev.com, they do translations online, and claim they are 100% USCIS compliant. In any case, your translation must have the certification mentioned above attached with the application (rev.com does provide you with a front page of such).
Generally speaking, the age of the document should not really matter. Certainly some people have submitted copies of their original >30-year old birth certificates. If you are worried it is too old, and you would be more comfortable with a newer one, then go ahead and repeat the translation and stop worrying about it
-
You pay for what you get.
That's not how most immigration attorneys operate in the US. You clearly aren't getting anything from your attorney, or you think you retained them when in fact all you had was a fee-for-service consultation.
-
If your lawyer is charging you by the hour then I would definitely change lawyers. Immigration attorneys generally charge a package fee with their retainer, not by the hour.
-
You have to make sure you are not subject to the J1 two year foreign residence requirement, which will prohibit adjusting status unless you obtain a waiver first.

Adjustment of Status
10/01/14 - Package (I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131 Concurrent Filing) sent to Chicago Lockbox. (Day 00)
10/02/14 - Package delivered and signed for (Day 01)

10/21/14 - Biometrics early walk-in completed (Day 20)
12/15/14 - EAD/AP approved email (Day 75)
12/20/14 - EAD/AP card received (Day 80)
Quick question if anyone knows, what is my current status after receiving my EAD? My last entry was on a J1. Am I still on J1 status, or is there some other status based on the EAD?

You will not be denied based on an error on your i-94. Like I said above you can either send in an affidavit, or you can go to a CBP deferred inspection site and have it corrected. If there is no rush for your aos, then it would be wise to wait until after the baby is born to file it. Previous divorce + quick marriage after entry + quick aos application may be a little complicated in the eyes of an IO. If you are in a hurry, seek the opinion of an immigration attorney.
-
You will be fine. Just attach a notarized affidavit that says you entered on xx date and did not leave. They will understand it. Out of curiosity, what visa are you adjusting status from and through which route?
