  1. Hi Yall!

So we already received the NVC letter; quick question tho', there are two sections to the letter which mention supporting documents required.

Are those to be provided by my husband(US Citizen), or by me? As he isn't sure, hence, i'm asking in case anyone here already started

on the NVC, or already completed the NVC.

Wishing everyone in the waiting good luck to the next stage!

  2. Thanks for a quick reply. So it looks like for you it was around 4 months between NOA1 and NOA2, right?

I'm just worried because it seems like some people are able to track what is happening to their cases during the long wait. Wanted to make sure that mine is fine :)

Yeah thats true! About 4 months, or so. I suggest you download the USCIS app - that way, you'd be able to follow close from time to time. You'll be fine. No worries!! :)

  3. Hi everyone!

I noticed that some of you mentioned "batches" with their cases. How do you have this kind of information? My NOA1 is from March 29. The website just says that my case has been received and there hasn't been any updates this whole time. Does that mean something is wrong? Please let me know, I'm starting to freak out!!! Thank you!

You don't have to worry; you'll hear something soon! There was no email/text either when we got the NOA2 - only on mailing address sometime June 7, and concurrently, the app update reflects status as sent to NVC for processing, which, we recently just got the welcome letter to proceed further actions from our end. Your NOA2 is prolly around the corner! :)

  4. So, we have just received our case#, and understood, we will have a year from date case# issued to complete the NVC requirements prior consulate stage. I am in no hurry, after all, the lease at the current place he is living is almost up end of October, and we have yet to find a place for new address; he is hoping to get on base housing, but it all depends on availability, else, we will have to find a place that we both like. Since, i am coming out to visit my husband in November, can we take action of needful required, and make the payment/submission then? Or do we have to do it immediately?

  5. Thanksgiving? That's November. If you filed in January you should be almost done with everything by then. Unless something terrible happens at the USCIS you will have NOA2 by then and by well in your way through the NVC, possibly even at the embassy by then unless you plan to slow down the NVC stage.

But travelling is no problem at all. In theory. I am going next month and not concerned about being denied entry. It all depends on the CBP officer on the day and whether, in his opinion, you are a genuine visitor. My concern would get that you will be very close to visa issuance by then that he might think you are trying to skip the embassy stage by entering as a tourist and staying.

Hi! Well, i've been looking at timelines, and have a hunch it'll probably take 12-16 months tops. Further, my husband currently in the Navy, so pretty much depending on how fast he can get the next steps done prior my action to take over here. But anyhow, if i do get things sorted before my planned travels, i will just get the flight re-validate to one way. Thanks for the heads up! Appreciate the reply. :)

Yes you can still visit on esta.

Awesome! That's good to know. Thank you. :)

  6. Hi VS residents!

So, i am a Singaporean, and my husband recently petitioned I-130 in January which we have received our NOA1, and as of now, we are waiting for NOA2. Anyway, my question; can i still travel on my ESTA(VWP) to visit him, while waiting for our NOA2? He has bought my flight to come out over Thanksgiving since assuming the timeline till approval of IR-1/CR-1 will take quite sometime.

  7. Hi K-1s. :) My fiance, and i are just planning to start I-129F when i get back Hawaii this June, so, my question is, prior the petition submitted, will i still be able to take trips back to visit him while waiting for the processing to go through the different stages of approval? Since he is with the US Navy, his vacation days are not as convenient as i take my vacations. Hopefully, anyone out here can give some advise?

  8. Hi,

Someone posted your link to my topic. Much appreciate this post! We are about to start on a K1 visa application, and seeing this forum page gives me hope!

Just got packet 3 this week! Here's what it contained:

    1. Cover note from Immigrant Visa Branch

    2. Visa instructions attachicon.gifVisa Instructions for Singapore Embassy pg 1.jpgattachicon.gifVisa Instructions for Singapore Embassy pg 2.jpg

    3. Form I have to sign saying I have all the documents on the checklist attachicon.gifVisa Instructions for Singapore Embassy pg 3.jpg

    4. Instructions for I-134

    5. I-134

    6. Letter for medical

    7. Letter for Certificate of Clearance

We spent an hour completing DS-160 today and printed the confirmation page with the barcode. I'll be paying the S$312 fee at Standard Chartered Upper Thomson tomorrow over lunch and sending off the forms and receipt at the end of the day. I'm hoping for an interview date in mid-December. Fingers crossed!

  9. Hey! Yes you are right. He is a sub guy! Thank you for the advise! I'll focus on helping him out with preparation of the supporting documents. Was hoping we could do it last few weeks while i was there but with all the travelling to visit his family and friends, we can only look towards the next earliest he gets off the boat. Much appreciate it ma'am!

    Sara

Hi, Im also with the USN stationed here in hawaii..you just said "boat" so he must be a Sub guy :) .. i just sent the I-129F 28th of September for my fiancé myself..my suggestion to you is concentrate on finishing the I-129f package first before starting to worry about those other stuff. Its a lot of documents to prepare for the package, don't overwhelm yourselves by trying to do everything at the same time...follow the guide(link provided above by someone)..most things you need to know is on there..your fiancé will be the one to file the petition but you could help him out preparing the package as he will need a lot of information about you.

Ok got it! Thank you for the help!!

Yes, there will be more fees for the visa and the medical. This post by kitthekat will be helpful to you, though the visa processing fee has gone up from $240 to $265. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/463628-singapore-k1s/

  10. Ok got it. So, once it is approved we'll be notified, and after, i can make a prompt application online via the US Embassy Singapore web? Will there be another fee to be made? Or is it just a one time thing when he submits the petition?

    Sara

If he is going to be deployed, then you can get expedited.

    http://www.uscis.gov/archive/archive-news/questions-and-answers-members-military

    Q. I am scheduled to deploy in the near future. How do I notify USCIS?

    A. If you are submitting an application or petition to USCIS, and are scheduled to deploy in the near future, write in bold letters, “I have an upcoming deployment” on the first page of the application/petition, or on a cover sheet attached to your application. If you have already submitted your application and need to notify USCIS of an upcoming deployment, contact the USCIS Military Help Line at 1-877-CIS-4MIL (1-877-247-4645) as soon as possible.

    Q. What are the criteria to have an application or petition expedited for military personnel?

    A. USCIS reviews all expedite requests on a case-by-case basis. Some examples of situations that may qualify for expedited processing include pending military deployments or emergency or humanitarian situations. Please contact your local USCIS office or the USCIS Military Help Line at 1-877 CIS-4MIL (1‑877-247-4645) for more information.

Follow this guide, and yes he can file the I-129F petition while you are visiting. > http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

After the I-129F petition is approved, you need to apply for the K-1 visa at the US consulate in your country. The other forms you are mentioning are not filed until after you enter the US with your K-1 visa, get married and file for adjustment of status. Flowchart> http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow

  11. Hi All,

My man is from Nebraska, but, currently serving the US navy presently based in Hawaii, and i am from Singapore. We are planning to start on our K-1 visa application soonest he gets time off from the boat. My question is, since he is in the USN, is there any possibility the military can assist to speed up the process of submission? Otherwise, can he apply while i am there on visiting? If this is possible, what are the relevant documents that i need to provide, or is it just the petitioner who has to provide all the supporting?

I have been running through the forms instructions and can see that there are other forms to follow after. Other than the I-129F, once approved, should I-485 be applied first, or I-765? Or both can be applied at the same time? And if I-765 is approved, how long duration validity? Apologies for the many questions, but, i'm doing the homework since he is busy now on back to back rotational boat duties.

    Hope to hear something soon!
