  1. I had my interview on Wednesday at 10:45 am. Arrived 10 minutes early but took some time to get through security and check-in lines. Only waited about 5 minutes before we got called back. Did not get approved on the spot, however about an hour after the interview I got the email/text that my card has been ordered. Hope to have the green card in my hands sometime next week.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

    Congratz and celebrate

  2. My green card just got approved!!!

We had the interview today 2/25, 4:15 pm at the San Diego Downtown office (880 Front Street). We arrived 30 minutes earlier. We started the interview at around 4:20 pm and we were done 30 minutes later.

Our officer was very pleasant and friendly. He started off by swearing us in, asking for IDs and then he asked us: "Tell me your love story." We discussed our relationship from the beginning till the present date. He wanted to know how long we dated before we got married.

Then he asked for proof of relationship, bills with both our names, pictures (with both of us together with family and friends), post cards (wedding, Xmas). We showed our rent contract, renter's insurance, joint bank account and credit card, car contract, car registration and car insurance, jointly filed 2014 tax return. He also asked whether we had joint health insurance which we did.

Another question he asked is what our plans as a couple are.

After that he asked me about where I live, with who (my husband), how much the rent costs and then those yes and no questions on the I-485 forms such as have you ever dealt drugs? etc.

Following that he told us we were approved and that I will get the card in the mail in max 2 months. But judging by the EAD processing time and others experiences shared on this forum, I am almost certain I'll have it by the end of next week (approx in 8 days).

Best of luck to everybody else who is waiting for their green card to get approved! I'll see you in 2 years!

Congratz see you in 3 years for citizenship. :dancing:

  3. Hey guys...its been awhile since ive been in here. CONGRATSS to everyone who has gotten their green card and gotten through the process!

We have our interview on Tuesday Feb 24th...I am taking Proof I was in school(i-20 & i-94), proof of address, joint accounts, joint insurance(renters),signed affidavits from my boss and our mutual friends, multitude of pictures, medical and my transcripts from school plus our original documents that we submitted with our initial applications. My wife is still under her parents insurance for health and car. I don't have either I don't make enough money and I don't have a car. Is that enough?

Also none of us changed our names because we are a same sex couple and we are still having issues in Florida with marriage rights and laws. Do you guys think that will be a problem? Also our interview is at 7am i hope we get someone nice that early!

You should be great. You have plenty of evidence. Try not to make your nerves get the best of you. All the best.

Interview went well yesterday - we were not approved on the spot but were approved today and our status changed to card/document production. We had to wait for three hours (yikes) but we were in the interview room for less than 10 minutes. Also they asked us almost NO questions! I was so surprised. Most of the interview was my husband answering those yes/no questions. The couple in front of us in "line" (they assigned numbers) got a Stokes interview which went on forever, they were called way before us.

I am so relieved it is over... we will see you guys in 2 years!

    Congrats and celebrate.
  4. got form I-72 after my interview. I am lacking 1 vaccine, people who did my vaccines in the philippines forgot to mark that vaccine. As a result, i have to find a civil surgeon to certify that i dont need that vaccine (because its for babies only). Fortunately, i am visiting a family here in California and found the cheapest civil surgeon ever!

I already submitted the form I-693 and now i am waiting for their feedback.

I just reallly hope no more paperwork, gosh this process is sooooo tiring and stressful!

I know its stressful, but look on the bright side if thats the only thing they need to issue your greencard. Stay positive.

  5. I am! I had a SSN in my madian name because they wouldn't issue it in my married name first time round. Yesterday I went to change it the woman said I wasn't in the system same as you and when I asked questions about how long/can I still apply for new jobs etc she told me that she couldn't tell me anything since I am not a citizen and just to wait.

Every time I get somewhere another annoying barrier arrives

I had the same issue, you can still apply for a job or work while your ss card is being processed.

  6. Got my interview on Wednesday.

Little nervous. Terrified I may not bring everything I need...

...do I need to bring copies of everything I've filed with uscis ever?!?

(This was so much easier when I worked in an office and had access to photocopiers, scanners and printers aplenty lol)

You must bring originals and copies of what you submitted. Also any new evidence

Should be originals and copies. All the best to you both.

  7. You would have to get them notarized and signed. It's great evidence to have.

I heard someone say that affidavits are not necessary because anyone could sign and stuff, I don't know

but thank you for the advice, but as of now I think I'm gonna keep at this, the fact that me and my husband live together and gonna be able to answer whatever they ask and everything, I'm pretty confident :)

You would have to get them notarized and signed. It's great evidence to have. But the choice is yours, all the best.
  8. My interview is next week, we did not filed a tax return yet cause I did not got my SSN yet

all we have is our lease agreement with both names on it, proof of rent paid every month, and joint banks statements plus joint credit card approval from bank of america, mail sent to same address and purchases sent to same address, and pictures... we only live together since august so there was not a lot else in documentation together at the moment

Do you guys think we have enough documents? thanks a lot and awesome luck for all of us :):dancing::goofy::dancing:(L)

You should get affidavits from family and friends supporting your marriage.
  9. This is to share my interview experience last January 29

Our interview was video tape recorded and we have two immigration officer in the room. One asking us questions and the other one observing. It feels like a panel interview. She asked me about my Name, birthday, date of arrival in the u.s., my mother's maiden name, address, zip code she also asked the same thing with my husband.

Here the questions she asked after reading the yes and no question in the i-485 form

    1. Where did you meet your husband

    2. How long have you dated before you decided to get married

    3. Who propose, when?

    4. When is your wedding?

    5. Why no wedding ring? (my husband don't believe in this)

6.Did you know about his past marriages?

    7. Is your marriage before and marrying a girl from the philippines any difference, why?

    8. Does your kids go well together?

    9. Any evidence that this relationship is legit? (kinda annoying question!) - I gave 100 pictures of us together, life insurance, healthe insurance, bank account, my military dependent id.

i was actually worried because my husband got retired last October 2014 but they didnt even ask about his income. I think him being in a military counts a lot.

If other VJ members has a nice experience having a friendly IO who interviewed them, mine is exactly the opposite. They don't even smile and the interview was a bit intense because they can be offending sometimes. Which is understandable because of the marriage frauds. Before she interviewed us, she went to a stokes interview and denied the application of the couple. The guy is black african and in his early 30's and the woman is in her late 50's. The woman get out of the room crying. Stokes interview is a separate interview of a couple which they think a fake marriage.

They just gave me a letter saying that they can't make a decision yet and will mail me if they needed something from me. She told me every IO is different and she is the one who dont make decision right after the interview.

But i am still postive.. keeping my fingers crossed

    hope this helps

My immigration officer was not pleasant either, I have been married for about 5 years and one child with my husband. Sometimes you get a nice officer other times not so nice officers. Lets stay positive.

  10. Guys..My hubby & I had our interview yesterday... Interviewer was polite. We went with a lawyer as well. We got an approval letter on the spot after like 5 mins of being in his office. I think I submitted enough evidence of our marriage that he asked us NOTHING about it!

We've been married since 2011. All he asked were questions out of formality I guess, it seemed like he had made up his mind about approving us already. We were just asked questions like full name, DOB, address, SS#, he asked me my parents' names, if my last entry to the US was last August with AP, &that's it! We are so happy it's done... I still have not received updates on my case. My I-485 still says they've scheduled me for an interview...so hopefully I'll get an update via text or get a nice surprise in the mail soon!! God is great!! :dancing:

Great, celebrate. Let's see how soon to get our updates.
