My husband picked up his visa today. :P Although, the blue paper says 2 weeks, it's more like 3-4 weeks The website doesn't work for updates. Thankfully, he lives in Accra. We are searching for tickets now. This is the easy part compared to the rest of this 3+ year wahala!

    Keep hope alive!

@REM4ALWAYSGreetings!  Congrats on your approval!!  I pray your husband reaches you in time for your family reunion.

During the interview did you husband have to present the original marriage certificate, new medical & police records?

Yes, you have to take all documentation back when you return for the 2nd interview that you had take for the first one.

    •  Medicals
    • Police report
    • 2 passport pictures
    • Affidavit of support (I-864)
    • Birth certificate
    • marriage license
    • All other supporting documentation
  3. VISA WAHALA

The US Embassy in Ghana is the gift that keeps on giving! My husband's interview was on the June 22nd. He was approved,   BUT his visa is still not ready. They told us it would take 2 weeks. He went to the DHL pickup office  today(I don't know why they have outsourced this to DHL) and they said come back next week! The website to track the visa doesn't work.

How did take to receive your passport back with the visa?  We were hoping he would be here by the July 22nd for a family reunion.

Gm vj members  I called nvc this morning and the lady who answered the phone said, there's a note stating they will be forwarding our case to the embassy, but she doesn't know when. And I asked her if we will receive any letter from nvc, she said no, but rather from the embassy, I thought we supposed to get a letter from the nvc once our case is forwarded. These ppl can stress ppl. Anyone with an idea pls. Thanks

You will receive a letter from the embassy just like the 1st time around telling the applicant  to go the embassy for an appointment time and instructing what  documents are needed for the 2nd interview. There will be a request for new medicals, police report, etc. I received the letter in the US and scanned it to him.

My hubby had his interview yesterday . Our case was re-affirmed after being denied at his interview last year.   First, I was not allowed to attend  his interview  even  though  my attorney  told me I could. The people and security  there  were very rude. We took stacks of documents  to the interview.  My husband  was asked 4 questions.  Then he was approved. I saw at least 3 other couples that were approved also. It's  been 3 years of ongoing  drama. I wish every else well in their journey.

  7. Good news.  I received my letter to go to the embassy and pick up a package for an interview.  The letter was dated 2/17/17, but I just got it today. It was mailed on March 20th. Check your case statuses on https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

The last update on the website was the  day this letter was generated.

Please, send us good vibes. This has been a 3+  year long journey. We hope for the best.

  8. That expiring soon is a computer generated response. For a long time,  my status said the same, but on Feb 14th it  was updated to admin processing .  This is the message I have now "Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. Please follow any instructions provided by the Consular Officer at the time of your interview. If further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved, it will be processed and mailed/available within two business days. Under the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act, Immigrant Visas for "Diversity Visas" cannot be issued after September 30th of the year in which you were selected to apply for a Diversity Visa. For example, entrants into the Diversity Visa Program in Fall of 2011 were selected for Diversity Visa 2012 Program, and selectees MUST apply and receive their visa prior to September 30, 2012 otherwise they lose eligibility to receive a Diversity Immigrant Visa, regardless of additional administrative processing. In addition, please note that some immigrant visas may not be able to be issued if the annual numerical limit for that category has been reached.

As far as USPS overnight, I do not know. Rarely will FedEx or UPS get it there the next day. I've used both. It makes it around the same time, but USPS has a cheaper rate.

  9. FYI, USPS has the cheapest overnight service!  It's 62.50 .  They always deliver on time with point to point tracking.  I think it outsourced through FedEx.     As of today, I still haven't heard anything about our case. I am submitting contacting my senator today.  Has anyone has any good results from seeking political help?

  10. Here's my latest

My case was reaffirmed on 10/28/16. I sent an email to the embassy on 12/7/16 inquiring about the status of my case, and I received a response below on 1/17/17.

"Thank you for your inquiry. The reaffirmed petition is not yet showing in our system. It could be that it has recently arrived but has but has not yet been unpacked and entered by Consular Staff.  When it is, Applicant will be contacted for an interview.

    Thank you"

  11. I have been advised that it goes to nvc than back to embassy.

1.Please how long did it take to get case from Ghana to uscis

    2. Did you use an attorney to do rebuttal

    3. Did you have to refute allot of lies or was it just a specific concern the co had

    1. My husband's interview was in June 2015. It took a very long time for my case to be returned from the Ghana embassy to USCIS. It was more than the time allowed. I got the notice to revoke in September 2016. I sent a reply on 10/11/16. I got notice it was reaffirmed on 10/28/16. I'm still waiting for it to be updated by NVC.

    2. I did get help. He is not an attorney, but he does immigration cases. I gave him all of the details and the chat logs, FB chats etc

    3. I had one main issue, my ex-husband. They had the timeline between my divorce from my ex and our marriage totally mixed up. I had to correction information on the timeline between my current husband and ex . Then they stated my husband didn't know my friends, family etc. The issue with that is the CO didn't ask him about my friends or family! I have friends in Ghana that I attended college with stateside and they hang out with my husband from time to time, and one of my friends had previously visited Ghana for a medical trip. He helped her get around. They had some pics together and he and my friends always converse on FB. He also chats with my brother. So I presented all of that information for disprove what they had stated. Then they asked for information to prove our relationship prior to getting married. I had all kinds of chats, email, phone logs, etc. I had over 4 years worth of documents to turn in. I also, got friends in Ghana and here to submit affidavits. I turned in 6 of them.

  12. The reason for the visa denial was incorrect on my NOIR. I successfully refuted their assertions that we were in a sham marriage for a visa. I received the notice that the case was reaffirmed on 10/28/2016. I would like to know what happens next? Does the petition go back through the NVC process or will it go back to the embassy? If anyone has gone through the post denial stage, please provide some insight.

    Thanks.

  13. Look, don't try to understand what goes on at the Ghana embassy , because it's not logical over there. I met this lady who used to work with the Ghana embassy for a non-profit. She told me about 2 years ago, the embassy had an overhaul, and everyone was fired . Now, they treat everyone like their committing fraud. They deny visa fo any type of reason rational or not. It's really a pity because they really waste so much time with filing , being denied, and then having to wait another year for the case to be reaffirmed. I am seeing more cases that were denied in Ghana are being reaffirmed. Hopefully, that should be a clue that something is amidst at that embassy. My husband was denied in June 2015. They held his case for so long! Even USCIS, didn't understand why the embassy has not returned my case file to them. When I received my NOIR, the information for the denial on the letter was totally incorrect. I don't know if they didn't review the evidence or documentation we submitted or if they were just making up information to support the denial. Luckily, I had receipts, documents, pictures, etc. to refute every statement made by the CO, and my case was reaffirmed.

I urge everyone to keep contacting their representatives and senators, and maybe someone will do something about the policy and procedures in that office.

  14. If you did the traditional wedding , make sure you still receive a marriage certificate. My husband and I had an a white wedding and not a traditional one. The pastor signed the certifcate, but we have to get another one fro the AMA. I had to get a letter from the registrar stating that the marriage took place. and another certified copy. I-130 is the petition that if filed for a visa for a relative /spouse. CR-1 is the category of the I-130 for people married less than 2 years. I think the cr stands for "conditional residency".
