  1. My roommate has a co worker (they work at an immigration law firm) that her husband is in intel for the government. He told his wife (who told my roommate) that the "technical issues" the DOS was having was actually a hacking incident. So its not so much that they are trying to fix the system but trying to determine what all information was compromised. I can't verify if he is or not intel but that is what is going around at my roommate's law office.

  2. Hello Dylan & Claudia,

Another question if I may. At what point did you schedule the medical exam? As soon as you received news of NOA2 approval? Or did you wait until you heard from embassy and received packet 3/4 (not sure which one it is...). Also, were you able to complete medical exam the same week of the interview or did you do it a few weeks ahead? I am hoping my fiancé can make only 1 trip to the capital for both things. I appreciate your help!!

  3. Your post was perfect timing!! I sincerely appreciate that you took the time to write this up! Our case is on its way to NVC as I write and I have a couple of questions for you.

DS - 160: I have begun to fill this application out and so far at no point has it asked for an invoice number. It only asked for the USCIS receipt number. Will it ask for this at the time of submission? I am waiting to get confirmation from NVC that case was sent to Managua.

Police records: It can be just from his hometown police department correct?

Second notice of action letter: Did you send a copy or did you give her the original to take to interview?

Documents: I went through the trouble (and I do mean trouble) of getting a certificate of singleness from the National Civil registry. Sounds like it was a waste of my time. yes or no?

Also, I noticed while filling out the DS 160 that on the G325A for the beneficiary, I accidently wrote in his father's middle name and not his first name. I corrected the information on the DS160. Should the beneficiary acknowledge this error at some point during this process? To NVC? at interview?

Interview: Could a friend accompany my fiancé at least into the embassy? He is extremely nervous and would like his best friend to go with him.

thanks in advance for the help and just heads up I may be asking more questions again!! Que tuani eres!

  4. meh...I psyched myself up by anticipating news today (checking my case status and everyone else's around me every half hour) but you know what it was a good feeling to think today could be the day. I just won't do that again until April haha. It could become a depressing miserable cycle! I'll just revert back to my expectation of late April/early May NOA2. That's reasonable at this point. right? Have a good night VJer's!

  5. OMG I had to share this bit of information b/c I know a bit of hope goes a long way! As you can see from my signature/timeline, my NOA1 was October 6th. I got on USCIS to check my case status and no update BUT I decided to punch in the receipt numbers for the 5 cases before mine and for the 5th one farthest from mine, which was a K-1 visa petition (obviously can't tell if he/she is a VJ member) and saw that it was approved yesterday, as in March 17th!!!! So with some luck and positive vibes going out into the universe it could possibly mean that mine will be looked at and approved today!! I wish I could know for sure that that is the case! I guess I'll know tomorrow evening either by email or by punching in receipt numbers before and after mine!!! Here's hoping to the best news!!! :energy:

  6. Most of you spend a lot of time on this forum and may have already seen this post, but for those that haven't its a pretty interesting read. It is very dated (2007) but I would assume that some of this information is still in place and someone might learn something from it. We are almost to the end! Sept/Oct filer here hanging tight with you all!

  7. Today I called the NVC and they gave me a MNL number. Does any one know what to do next?

    Hi Lukus,

Im still at the waiting stages but from a few websites I found and detailed reading throughout this forum this is what to expect now...

The NVC will assign a case number starting with the code for your designated embassy (in your case Manila) and they will send it to Immigrant Visa Unit at the US Embassy in Manila. Once this office has received your K visa case from the National Visa Center, the Immigrant Visa Unit (IV Unit) will send you a packet 4 instruction including a checklist of required documents. Once you have completed gathering and completing the information and forms required and we have received the corresponding copies from you, the IV Unit will schedule your final visa interview.

Not sure what all the packet 4 asks for but go to this website to get an idea of what basic documents you will need for sure...

hope this helps you out some.

  8. Hello fellow 2014 K-1 Octoberans,

I'm not much of a poster but I do keep up with all topics from July to October for updates and tips and mainly to reaffirm that I am not alone in the gradual downward spiral of patience and sanity that is this waiting process. Sometimes I don't even have the energy to express my feelings about the process, or even to look up my case on the USCIS website at least. But I've mustered up some energy to say this (and I know you all have said it in a variety of ways already and I'm joining in on the ranting and venting for solidarity's sake) "FML!!! Can we get a time machine around here to get to the moment when our SO is unboarding the plane and into our arms!?!?" Sigh...it will eventually happen I know that for sure b/c IF (hopefully not) I face some horrendous obstacles that I read about on here such as a lost file, or falling in the USCIS to NVC limbo (CSC has its pitfalls - karma! ) or getting pushed around for hours on end by USCIS reps, I will not give up. I will get my man here even if its the only thing I accomplish in my life this year! Well the energy is gone now and im heading to bed. I kudos you all for fighting the good fight against USCIS and for helping us all remain sane and most importantly sharing your story and reaching out. Good luck everyone! I'm here with you all even though you don't see me often! (See you around mid April...)

  9. A few questions...

For those of you who have received your NOA1 did you get a text or email? Or both? I filled out the e-notification form but wasn't sure exactly how they notify us. Also, how soon did they deduct the filing fee from your account?

My other confusion is about the service centers. Are we automatically directed to the TX service center because I saw there are others around the country. I sent my petition to the TX lockbox though.

Ahhh I hate this waiting game! Mark is coming to see me for Christmas and I will travel to England in February most likely but the goodbyes and waiting around are killer! Do you think the holidays will drastically slow down the process?

    Thanks!

    Hi -

I got both the text and email at the same time. I sent a money order I bought from the post office so I cannot relate to the deduction of fee from your account.

Service centers: all K-1 petitions are initially sent to the lockboxes (dallas or lewisville) and there they are redirected to the service centers around the country that correspond to the region you live in. There are only a few service centers that process K-1 petitions, maybe someone else is more knowledgeable as to which ones they are. In the past the Texas service center has transferred its petitions to the other service centers due to large backlogs and we are hoping this happens again soon because Texas seems to be slower than the rest.

Your guess is as good as mine on how the holidays will affect the waiting period. That is so exciting that you will see each other soon! I wish I could but i've been gone too long from my own family that I promised to be home for the holidays. Hopefully early next year I can travel to see my fiance. Hope I answered your questions somewhat.

  10. I sent out the petition on September 30th via USPS Priority and it was confirmed delivered on Friday the 3rd. I have not received NOA1 but believe it is too soon...expecting notification later this week.

I am curious to learn if filing in the fall is delayed during the holiday season and my fiancee is considering applying for a travel visa to visit in Christmas.

I'm just as brand new to this as you are but I agree with ayla 42 that the holidays will increase the delay but we are in it together. I plan on visiting my fiance some time early next year if I don't see any movement in the process by March 2015. Meanwhile, I am becoming addicted to all the forums on this site haha

  11. FINALLY!! :dancing: After so many delays! The lawyer can't see me this day, the secretary forgot to put me down for that day :ranting: , I give up on that lawyer  , I turn to a friend with immigration law experience, I correct the 1000 errors she finds :crying: , I miss her twice last week to look over my papers a second time, I waste a whole package of printing paper :wow: redoing forms here and there to make it just right ...but now the packet is complete! Its sitting on my desk perfectly printed and precisely paper clipped in a sturdy USPS envelope just waiting to be dropped off at the post office...one GIANT step closer to my happily ever after  ...yes I know, marriage is nothing like the Disney movies portrays it to be but hey let me dream while I impatiently wait for my prince charming to arrive. :P If i could put a virgin Mary sticker on the envelope to make sure it arrives at the USCIS office without delay and intact I would do it! But it’s the middle of the night and I don't know where to find such a sticker at this hour and I plan on dropping it off ASAP in the AM so no sticker. Its crazy how my whole future depends on that envelope :jest: ...I have never done so many reviews and cross checks and re-reviewing of any documents in high school or college as I have done on this small petition application. It was nowhere close to a midterm paper or an audit report! jk jk of course I review my audit reports *cough **cough***!! Here goes everything!
