  1. According to this page

If you are issued an immigrant visa, the consular officer will give you your passport containing the immigrant visa and a sealed packet containing the documents which you provided. It is important that you do not open the sealed packet. Only the U.S. immigration official should open this packet when you enter the United States.

I had my Embassy processing and interview last week, but was not given a sealed, brown packet. I was only given a CD-rom (which seems to have come from my medical examination maybe).

Has something been overlooked or has the process changed?

  2. Congratulations! On what bases did you file an expedite?

I had an opportunity to transfer internationally with my employer, but they needed me to start in Boston on April 6th. My expedite request was accompanied by a letter from my line manager saying this was the case. I asked to be expedited based on potential financial loss for both me and my employer.

  3. Our visa journey started at the beginning of September 2014. Today, 11th March, I had my interview at the U.S. Embassy in London. I'm approved! 7 months from start to finish, including an approved expedite request.

I'm so happy and excited! This site has been such a great information resource throughout so if I can give back a little by answering a few questions I will try my best!

  4. What did u do to get your case expedited? Looking to have mine expedited as well for my husband.

My request was based on that fact that I have an opportunity to transfer internally from the UK to the US with my employer however if I missed the transfer window, the opportunity would be gone. To tie it in with expedite criteria I framed it as "potential severe financial loss" personally if I have to move whilst unemployed rather than moving with a job, and "financial loss to employer" who are expecting me to start work in Boston in April. This was supported with a letter from my line manager saying the same.

  5. My expedite request was also granted on the 4th, and my case shows in transit today... so maybe yours is too! If you look on the interview thread there is info on how to track your case using DHL that way you will know when you can contact the consulate :) congrats

I had a look but can't find my package through DHL. When I called NVC yesterday the operator said everything was in place and my file should be sent out. She wasn't sure why it hadn't been. So she sent it for Supervisor Review which I'm hoping doesn't 'overwrite' the expedite and make it sit in a supervisor review queue for 60 days!

  6. ...and may I add, if the request is approved, how long after that before the interview?

I submitted an email expedite request on 21st Jan. I received an email saying it was under review on 26th Jan. The email saying the expedite had been granted came on 4th Feb. The was for the London Consulate.

I'm still waiting for my case to be shipped to the consulate. They are the ones who will then arrange the interview. I'm hoping it will be in the next few weeks.

  7. Hi Everyone,

Our AOS and IV packets should have made it to the NVC on Friday 30th January. I have an official request in asking for an expedite due to a job transfer being available to the US within my company, with a potential start date of Monday 6th April. From what i have read this is unlikely to be a good enough reason, but we are hoping. Does anyone know how long it generally takes for an expedite decision from the London consulate?

If our expedite is not approved, it looks like my visa won't be approved until some point in May-July. This would mean I would miss the internal transfer :( Is there anything else I can do to help push it through the system?
