    Hi Shanny,

I'm thinking of going to Boston as well for my Infopass appointment since NYC has nothing available. I had read that it was alright to go to other states to get the Infopass but it seems like they gave you some issues? Is that true? What exactly did they say? I don't want to make the 10 hour trip back and forth if I am not able to get my stamp there.

    Thanks!

They weren't very nice and did not want to help me, in my opinion i think back in the days it was easy and they were lenient to giving you the stamp no matter what state you lived in but things and times changed. The guy was explaining something to me of how they don't have a big enough field office to accommodate other people from other locations. I literally had to beg since i flew all the way there and ended up having to take the greyhound home. It was a hectic and difficult process, but don't stop trying with New York because the really sad thing about everything is that week i went all the way there, after i came back i tried the website 'just because' and the Manhattan field office had dates. Crazy right?

  2. I followed the advice of others who commented on this post, tried at like 1pm and 2 pm and they had appointments available. Its a gamble and also if you have time to visit the city you can take a trip there and use the infopass kiosk that they have there, maybe that can also boost your luck. As for me i went to a different state and it was not easy because you can't just walk into any service centre but after much convincing i was able to get the stamp.

    Hi @Shanny89!

None of my business, but why do you need the stamp? I can't see anything on your timeline but from what you've posted it sounds like you just got your NOA/extension letter.

If that's true, and you still have your (expired or about to expire) green card, you don't need the stamp for another year after the green card expiry date; before that you use your (expired) green card and your NOA (extension) letter, which extends the validity of your green card for a year.

PS it would really help us to help you if you would:time:so that others can check to see what stage you're at, which helps us to give more pertinent advice.

@nightingalejules From my previous posts on here, i've stated that i lost my green card. While it would have been nice to keep travelling while i still had a card until it expired, that doesn't relate to me since i have no card at all and i need proof of travel/status.

Immigration is Federal Law. Not sure why they would say that. Unlike the National 'discussion' Federal Officers at the Field Offices have access to your information irrespective of State or location

Exactly, thats why i called back today and spoke to someone else and they said it was ok and that i can go to any office. So to Boston i go....:)fingers crossed

Hello, I tried to but the NYC Infopass is completely booked. Since this is a Federal Matter, I tried Hartford, CT which had tons of spots available (Train ride from NYS), Newark, NJ has a few. Hope that helps?

Did they assist you there? i saw lots of slots open in Boston and i sometimes work there but before i made an appointment i called USCIS customer service and they said i can't go outside of NY because only the field offices that are close to my zip has my case. Therefore if i got to Boston they won't have my case and i've read on here that some NY people went to NJ and they were refused.

  6. August/September filers i need your help!!! i've been trying to make an infopass appointment in new york ever since i got my extension letter and i've had 0 luck. I literally set my alarm to wake up all sorts of hours of the morning and nothing (3AM-6AM) I've checked throughout the day as well as at nights and even a little after midnight as someone suggested on here but still...NOTHING. I've tried all the field offices in New York and they don't have appointments available. Anyone on here has any tips on how i can get an appointment? i really need this stamp.

  7. Sorry for that negative experience you have. Just think positive and be patient (being patient is probably the most nerve racking point), them telling you that you will get a decision they made in the mail is pretty normal. I assume its something they have to say based on the books. A Lot of these USCIS agents lose themselves in these interviews and may get distracted into believing their job is to intimidate the couple instead of getting to know about and understand the nature of the relationship. The only thing i wished you did was not hold anything back and memorize your dates THAT'S VERY IMPORTANT, however it's a little too late for "should haves" and "could haves" at this point like i mentioned earlier, think positive and be patient. Sometimes things aren't always as bad as they may have seemed.

Good luck and please keep up updated...

  8. Hey everyone, do I finally mailed my I751 package out after weeks of preparing. However, now I have another headache. I sent a check f om my bank with the correct filing fee and write it I out to USCIS (not abbreviated) but I forgot to sign my name on the list right hand corner of the check. I tried to stop the process and have the package returned to me but it's too late want it will be there on Monday. Can anyone tell me what might happen? Will they send the entire package back or...? help please I've been losing sleep ever since I found out I made the mistake, because I know it will delay my process.

  9. I already have my husband on my life insurance does that not show enough that i am planning for our future?, i'm not ready to write any will as yet. I think i would like to wait until i have my children before i begin doing so. I didn't know not having a will or Medical Power of Attorney could have such a great impact on the immigration officer's decision. Now i'm worried and confused.

    • The I-551 stamp effectively is a green card so you're all good there.
    • Include actual statements from any joint accounts (at least one per quarter (4/year) since you've been together) Just the debit cards is probably not enough.
    • Your original post doesn't mention why you don't have a lease, but I assume you're staying with someone. That someone (or the owner of the property) can just write a statement that you live there together. You could even go online and produce a lease-type document that you and the person you're staying with can sign. It doesn't have to be a fancy lease.

    Good luck!

@nightingalejules thank you so much for your response, i have included copies of actual statements from the account. I've printed every 6 months, for the past 2 years...

  11. Hey guys, still working on completing my I-751 package to mail and just adding some final touches as my green card (which was lost) expires on November 24, 2017. My question is, do you really need an affidavit to write letters? I mean i can get friends/family to write letters but i really don't want to bother anyone if you know what i mean. Below is a list of all the evidence i have so far, will this be enough to avoid an RFE and also to prove a bona fide marriage? or is it too little? We don't have any children, we rent a room so o lease and no car.

  12. Hi, for those that already submitted I-751 and has a pending case or have already been approved. Can you please help me decide what evidence to submit? My husband and i have no kids and we are renting a room so we have no real lease. However, we do have joint accounts, joint cell bill, we vacation frequently etc. Will this be enough? Also how long did it take for you to receive a receipt notice?

  13. Hello recently i left the states to go to abroad for work and unfortunately lost my two year conditional green card that i've obtained through marriage. I tried several methods to locate it but was unsuccessful, my card expires the 23rd of November. My question is will i have to file both an I-90 and I-1751 and be obligated to pay both fees or is there a way i can only do one of the two?
